How in the world could you have virus scanned a card formatted in camera? The computer would always report an error if you format in camera, take it out of the camera, and do a virus scan.

Rule 1, always, forever and ever, is to format your card in whatever camera/OS you're working with.

Rule 2, ALWAYS, ALWAYS expect that any card you send to anyone, anywhere, will be wiped clean. ALWAYS.
Further, the Panasonic cards are made by a low-grade jobber. It's like putting crap gas in a Formula 1 car.

It's great they replaced the the main board (which is pretty much par for any repair on any camera whether it needs it or not), but to expect any electronics company anywhere in any industry to clean/clear a card and send it back as such, is a risk that a single search on the web, or any rational person could have explained is just plain foolish.

A likely reason the card had issues is that you likely formatted it in a Mac vs in-camera, yes? Again, most any video-savvy person can quickly explain why formatting of cards is crippled due to the Mac OS and file size limitations. This is also why you must use a SDXC 64GB card for PRO files and for most large string video in POV cameras, and it must be formatted XFAT.

I scanned the card on my pc before formatting in the Sony cam.
I was wrong, it was a samsung, not panasonic card.
it was a sdxc 64gig class 10 card. I do not own a Mac
I did save the files before I sent the card off.
The rep at Sony specifically asked me to send in the card so they could recover the files. I really appreciate your help, anything else you can think of?

  2. oink oink!!!
I have lived in America my entire life and have always been a person of conservative values.
a few weeks ago I went to Switzerland and Italy for a base trip. what I realized there made my stomach turn. America "land of the free" BULLSHIT!!!!
I was there for 3 weeks and saw 2 cops the entire time. one was called to a highway accident and the other was on his way to work in the am.
over there the people control the government.
the cops are actually there for the good of the people. not to harass, intimidate, and fine.
would you believe that there are NO undercover cops hiding in the bushes waiting to fine you for living!!!
they have bright orange decals and a blue light on top of their vehicles that is on all of the time.
its disgusting to come back to the "land of the free" and see how corrupt our police and politicians are.
its an ugly manifestation of what our founding fathers dreamed. just like the politicians, the police will not stop until we are subservient to their cause.
I really wish you roided out oinkers could stop juicing for a cycle or two and see that you are not above anyone else or the law of the land. when the police start being policed we will be free.

  4. i just want you guys to know of some problems I had with my sony as100v:
I went to Switzerland for a wingsuit base trip and took the as100v as my primary camera. I use a Panasonic 64gig memory card (sdxc)
the camera worked fine for the first half of the trip, after every jump I would download the videos to my phone for review.
after 100 files were stored on the card, the camera began corrupting files.
there was still over 8 hrs remaining on the card that I could record on. every jump after 100 was corrupted.
I spoke with sony, they had me send in the camera and said they would recover the videos for me.
after receiving the camera they replaced the main board and said my memory card had a virus that caused the problem.
the card was brand new and reformatted before use, also scanned with antivirus. the problem began after it worked 99 times.
when they sent me the camera and card back they deleted all of the videos from the card that were corrupt!
I saved the files before I sent them in thank god. but wtf? shouldn't they have at least asked first?
im pretty pissed at sony right now, their customer service reps will lie to you, and don't think for a min that youll get a supervisor on the phone, not happening.
im very disgusted at sony right now, be careful if you trust these cameras, they can and will fail and gopro has better customer service than sony and that isn't saying much.

Check out the Factory Diver by Skysystems USA, it is offered in XXXL. It is a full face helmet so I'm not sure if that is what you're looking for, but it is an option. They also mention custom sizing on some of their helmets (i.e. open face helmets), I'm not sure how big they can go with custom sizing, but you could contact them to find out details/pricing.

Fuck SkySystems! Hands down the worst customer service I've ever seen in my life. I paid for a helmet from them over a year and a half ago, they won't even return a phone call or email. Do not do business with that company unless you enjoy not having a helmet or your money.

  7. I am experiencing a distortion of video when recording with image stabilizaton on. I just got off the phone with Sony 1-877-865-7669 they are unaware of the issue. If you are experiencing this jello effect on your as100v give them a call and let them know. I asked about a possible future firmware update to allow 120fov without image stabilizaton to solve this problem. They want your feedback. Give them a call

Hey Jeremy, wondering what the image quality is like for you? I've been using mine for a couple weeks top mounted on a rawa helmet with a cookie flatlock and it seems to be whenever I have the stab turned on I get "jello" happening in the background.

My helmet is super tight, I have a big ass chin also that helps stabilize the helmet. When I pan fairly fast I do get the jello effect you are experiencing. I'm not much of a camera flier, but I'm working on getting better. What I've noticed is if I slow down my head movments the jello effect isn't as obvious. I've only done a handful of jumps with this set up and am still learning a lot about it. I really wish the camera offered the 120fov without the stabilization as well.

  9. Here is my new/used helmet.
I would like to get a still setup in the future.
Sony AS100v side mounted to a cookie G3.
I fabricated the mount from aluminum and did the paintjob with Spray paint. Im really happy with how it turned out! im loving the side mount and lack of weight on top of my head!!!

  10. I decided to make my own mount for the Sony AS100v.
it was really pretty easy to do. If anyone wants the template feel free to send me a PM, I still need to scan the template into the digital world so it might a be a day or two before I can send it. The mount is super low profile, minimalizing the snag hazards and its also adjustable up/down. I am shooting with Image Stabilization ON (120)fov and you cannot see the helmet lense in the video at all. I have not tried it in (170)fov, but you can move the camera forward on the mount quite a bit.

  11. How about increasing the size limit of the photo. Every time I try to post from my phone it gets rejected for being too large. Or have an auto resize button? It sucks to have to go to a desktop to resize before posting photos

  12. I use to jump a wings and had nothing but amazing customer service from them. Henri is a great person to deal with. They always did everything they could to make me happy. Stiffened the reserve flap, bottomless corners, anti twist dbag, and wingsuit bridle while I waited!
I now jump a micron because of the reserve pin protection.
I had two out on my wings from lounging in the back of an otter, it almost pushed the pin out, when I deployed it popped. Luckily I reeled it in before it came out of the free bag

it would be a waste of time, even the back fly vents that existed when I bought mine were insufficient for the Rbird (single in the center up high) and I ended up adding to more of my own more inline with the location on a P2. The mod improved the backflying abilities of the suit 10fold but i do feel i sacrificed some of its belly to earth performance....

My R bird flies pretty nice on its back:S.

I agree with you. It takes about 5 years of actual use to really "prove out" a reserve system. The Skyhook passed that milestone six years ago. It's now been installed on over 30,000 rigs from 4 manufacturers and packed by riggers of all skill levels, all over the world. If we estimate an average of just 350 jumps on these rigs (some have none, many have thousands) then the skyhook has been along on over 10,000,000 jumps. USPA claims its members use their reserves every 565 jumps (3,000,000 jumps and 5,309 reserve uses in 2010). This means that the Skyhook has been "used", (one way or another) over 18,000 times. It is not "perfect" (nothing is), but it has certainly been the most "trouble free" device I have ever invented, including the hand deploy pilot chute and the 3-ring release.

Bill, I want to thank you for inventing the Skyhook, it has saved my life and I am very appreciative to have one in my micron. You are the man!

I really see no reason that it wouldn't work on the Ozone.

The only thing I can find on this issue is Chuting Star suggesting that the Ozone can only be top mounted: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3567604

Have shot them an email to confirm.

Do you have an Ozone now?

It sure looks like that mount would fit nicely on the right side of that helmet on the flat spot. It's best on the right side anyway.

looking at the pics on cookies website, it looks like they designed it to be on the left side away fromthe bridle/pc. i am still looking for other side mount options for the g3 if anyone has any other ideas.

  17. I'll bite on#2 and#4
#2 depends on where you mount the sticky. Right on top the visor will open about2" with a camera on it, without a Cabrera it will open all the way. There is also a lense mount option. But neither of these will remove the shake from your video. It's the loose fitting liner of the helmet that causes this. You need a ratcheting strap to tighten down the helmet to your melon.

#4 the liner is held in by velcro, but the mouthpiece is glued in. You can remove the whole thing, but you will have to get some shoe goo and reglue the bottom of the mouthpiece.
