At 14 jumps, was student/rental gear? This might explain why it has the handle stop installed... Two words that get you in trouble, ALWAYS and NEVER

If you strip away the emotion and fear that most religions feed their flock and dissect with a clear mind...how could religion be logical? Two words that get you in trouble, ALWAYS and NEVER -

I agree with earlier posts. Take the nose, shake the canopy with a push/pull motion. Once you are ready to start flaking, start with the brake lines, grab them and lift up to better see the next line set. Keep the brake lines in hand, grasp the next line set, flake, and continue. By grasping the line sets together it takes some of the guess work out of the process. Two words that get you in trouble, ALWAYS and NEVER

Making 1st Tandem Jump this weekend ... Any Suggestions
HellFreak replied to seadream91's topic in Tandem Skydiving
Your day will be filled with both excitement and a subtle fear of the unknown. Both are normal, both are to expected, both make the day that much more fun. I suggest a light meal and hour or so before you jump. Comfortable clothing, in layers, if you are in a cooler climate. Sneakers on your feet. Arrive earlier than your scheduled time if you have such an appointment. Enjoy the dropzone, talk with other jumpers, ask questions. Skydivers love to talk, especially about skydiving. As a TI, there are two things more than others that I teach all of my tandem students, they are basic and important. One, is to breathe. You can breathe normally in freefall. The air is free, but self-serve. Two, ARCH. This is the typical freefall position. It is simply when your bellybutton is closer to the ground than you shoulders and knees. Your instructor will work with you regarding both of these. The main thing is to have fun. Even if you never jump a second time you will never forget it. Get a video, its great showing it off after T-day dinner!! Two words that get you in trouble, ALWAYS and NEVER -
My suggestion for you would be to first go to the USPA website, find the Skydivers Information Manual and print yourself a copy. This is the guide that instructors and skydivers alike use for training, licensing and referral. This manual is not going to answer all of your questions. Learning this manual, front to back, will NOT make you a skydiver, but it will give you an introduction to the safety and training requirements for new students.
