  1. I have not the slightest clue what cambering means. The definition I got from the dictionary doesn't seem to apply. Help a yankee out. Your legs from the knee down are going backwards, less than 45 from the knee down. That will induce a little backslide also. Try to keep them going 45 from the knee down.
  2. Well for once I got to be an exception. He was my SDU coach, tandem, aff, the s&ta, and had been skydiving over 20 years. I trusted his call on that, and yes I did know the rules
  3. I asked my Skydive U coach the same question when I had like 70 jumps. He said "now". So I guess it's really a matter of how comfortable the tandem master is with your skill set.
  4. How to learn how to pack 1 Find an up jumper who knows how to pack and is just hanging around the DZ that day. 2 offer him/her beer to teach you how to pack. 3 go rent a rig and do a jump 4 get up jumper to show you the steps of packing up to bagging in a quiet area. 5 now you do what he/she said. This will probably require you going back to get him/her to show you some steps over again. 6 Get the up jumper to show you how to bag and close. 7 Go to the main packing area or where ever people are packing and pack it again getting input from other jumpers(now you can start adding discarding "styles"). 8 repeat step 7 until your comfortable haha with your pack job. 9 go jump your pack job, and "yes your going to jump it like that". 10 land and go buy beer I learned at jump 11 and jumped my first pack job on 17, and actually my man Mike Z taught me for free. I bought him beer because he deserved it. Otherwise thats how I learned how to pack. Also right after the last load is a great time to practice, because people have time to sit around and watch you get frustrated while they help. PS a big shout out to all those people that helped and gave me words of encouragement like "Are you really gonna jump that" and "Holy shit thats fucked up are you really gonna jump that", and the ever popular " well at least you have a reserve"
  5. A change of scenery can do wonders for some!! Had a guy like your describing. Last jump I did with him he came under the formation at full track, and I mean right under us. He got torn a new asshole and the cold shoulder after that jump. He left for another drop zone and he did fine he got his coach rating and none of the experienced skydivers there had a problem with him. This still amazes me, because when he was jumping with us no one and I mean no one could tell him anything. I watched him argue with a very experienced skydiver about why he wasn't wrong for tracking under the formation Like I said a change of scenery can do wonders for some
  6. You could try learning to fly in a wind tunnel first. That way you can see if your physically able to fly in a much safer enviornment. Try some light yoga on a daily basis, or at least stretch everyday. My .02
  7. Wow!!! I could barley sit at 179. I think what you really want to do is learn how to do flips and cartwheels upright first. Lets look at an upright flip two different ways. #1 push your upper body forward and pull your lower body backwards while tucking at the same time. #2 (this is exaggerated and basic) stand or extend your lower body tilt forward long enough for the relative wind to hit your legs then tuck. Then extend your body to stop the rotation. In way #1 your trying to muscle your way thru the relative wind. With #2 your using the relative wind and gravity( gravity doesn't want you falling heavy side up) to give you the momentum thru the rotation. Watch video of top freestyle/freeflyer's standing and doing rotations and you'll see what I mean. Once you can rotate like that it's "easy" to stop it half way, since gravity wants you to fall heavy side down PS if you have Crosswind they have a super slo mo of Omar doing exactly what I'm talking about
  8. I always check the altitude of the bottom of the cloud deck on the climb to up.

You been slackin son. No new numbers since Decibel? You've been BASEing to much. Get back to work spreadin the love,it's what you do "best".
  11. Sitfly body position= legs bent at 90 degrees from the knees the torso is 90 degrees from the legs the arms are 90 degrees from the torso and bent 90 degrees at the elbow. That's hard to do and be completly relaxed. It's like form with any sport once you get it into muscle memory you learn which muscles need to be tense and which ones don't In general belly flying is the "most" stable body position(easiest to hold stable) due to fact that the center of gravity and the center of pressure are in almost the same spot. When you freefly(sit or hd) the CG and CP are in 2 different places, which makes those body positions inherently unstable in freefall.
  12. Like someone said PM BIGUN. He can point you in the right direction. Military squares are rated over 300 pounds(worse case scenario). No matter what size you are impact with the ground can cause injury or death!!! I know a guy weighs between 250-270. He opened so hard that his canopy blew up (3 or 4 cells I think)and one riser almost ripped off of the container. There are details and issues I'm leaving out, just want make you aware of what can happen.
  13. First, I'm not "bashing" anyone. Second, I was providing information, and sources for more in depth dissemination of that information. Third, I didn't check the date of the OP. I guess I deserve to be drawn and quartered for that. Fourth, The information I provided is relevant no matter what the date, and unlike you there might be some that find it useful
  14. Wing loading is not the only factor to consider. Me flying a Cobalt 150 at 1.4 is not the same as you flying a Cobalt 105 at 1.4. The 105 is smaller and therefore has less drag, it also has shorter lines so it turns faster. The end result is your flying a faster more responsive wing then me, even though we have the same wing loading. That being said The nitro and cobalt charts are wrong, because they don't take canopy size into account. Check out some of the PDF's on PD's website. Get Brian Germains book. Get yourself informed on the subject.
  15. I wouldn't sweat it, easier for me to say then for you to do, but really don't sweat it. I've seen video of students spinning uncontrollably and they made it through. I would suggest getting video, It will help with any discrepancies between what you think your doing and what your actually doing. AFF is about teaching basic survival skills. Your instructors are not concerned with your "form". They are very concerned about you maintaining AA, being able to get on your belly and stable, and landing safely. You learn how to fly after AFF You have more time then you realize in a skydive. Wait till your fist solo then you'll see. You can screw the pooch all the way down the hill and still have no problem finishing the objectives of the dive. As long as you forget screwing the pooch on the hill and concentrate on the whats in front of you. I swam hard on all my student and unconnected exits till around #30 and maybe a few more till around 100, but as long as I kept my mind focused(stop take a breath move on, it really only takes about a second to do) it was not much of a problem. On the other hand if I got wrapped up in an error I made. I would get into a negative feedback loop. 1. Dwell on mistake. 2. make worse mistake, while dwelling on 1st mistake etc, etc. Just try to think back when you first started flying. I'm sure it seemed like there was so much to do, but after you made it muscle memory through repetition. You probably didn't have to think about a lot of things that you did when you first started. Same deal!! Like someone said you have to relax to arch. Practice in the shower. You'll learn to feel what muscles to use. Your probably poking out your upper torso on exit, thus ending up "face down". It's in the hips and small of the back not the upper torso.
  16. Ahhh now you drop any hint of the subtle hyperbole, since I won't play by your rules. You now feel the need to heap it on. Nice example of what your whining about. Any person so ignorant as to suggest that in the 60's Ali was playing the "race card" is beneath me wasting my "breath" on them. You are close to being right about one thing. I don't know everything, but next to you I'm sure it seems like I do.
  17. If you want that type of response you should try practicing what you preach, because your responses have been nothing but hyperbole and insults. You get what you give
  18. Who is this Cassius Clay you speak of. That would be the son born to Mr. And Mrs. Clay, who later decided to change his name in order to sound more Islamic. I guess the name he was given was not good enough for him. You've guessed your way all through this thread, thats the problem.
  19. I won't bother to point out what a steaming pile of bullshit your response is. Far be it from me to cure someones ignorance. Well instead of merely trying to bash my response, maybe you would like to clearly state your position, and offer facts in arguments against what I have said. Otherwise you just sound like a whiner. Oh my!! The third grade if you don't do x than your y argument. You Rush and your grammar school word games. What a crack up. As I stated earlier. I feel no need to cure anyones ignorance.
  20. Mohamed Ali Mr. Clay could have served like Arthur Ashe: away from combat. He could have been a real morale booster to the troops, but he thought otherwise. Too bad. The name is Ali, and he did serve. He served his beliefs. With as much or more courage and conviction as anyone who served in Viet Nam. He surely could have gone the Elvis route, but he put his money where his mouth was. A true patriot, and I'm sure you'll never get it Good day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vR3mJzlyyrU You stated it perfectly. Only himself was served There may be some people out there that give a rats ass about your opinion. I'm not one of them. So please go play your grammar school word games with someone else. Do you always fling PA's when someone posts a point you can not counter? Ohhh my pussy hurts!!! You made no point. You like to play kiddie word games, and act like it's a rational argument. A simple statement of fact. No more no less. Made my point again I see. Thanks
