    Skydive Alabama

My wife and I jumped at Skydive Alabama for 3 years and was there almost every weekend. Unfortunately, we had to move out of state due to work. First of all the staff are the most professional of any DZ staff we ever been to, and that's about 15 DZ's throughout the states. Secondly, the plane is always flying, if not the King Air, then the Cessna. Curly, the DZO is always working his ass off making sure the plane's in the air by either flying, or if he's short a TM, he's quick to put on a rig to take a student up, or even shoot video; he's an outstanding person with a great since of humor! Stacey, who works manifest; goes above and beyond any manifest person i have ever seen. Overall this DZ is and will be by far my favorite DZ and choice DZ to visit no matter how far we may live away from it. Keep up the good work guys

  6. I am looking to purchase my first video equipment, and I understand that everyone has their own personal opinions on what's the best buy. Here's what i'm looking for: 1. Video camera that can be mounted on top of a helment. 2. Helmet with top mount capabilities. 3. Video editing equipment Basically i want all of my own gear that i can take from DZ to DZ with me. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would be using this for me personally, and possibly to do a tandem video from time to time. V/r Brad "Never take life seriously. 7. It's very possible, but I can't say off hand. I have to know his birth place and other data to find out; but thanks for the inquiry. "Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway."

  13. needs to go back and take his FJC again before himself or someone else. i have to laugh at this, obviously he's calling me a kid for only jumpin a year, and not to the obvious fact that im 35..with two kids, if i may, one 16yrs old and one 10 yrs old. Thanks for making me laugh after a long, hot ass day on the range!! Respectfully, Brad "Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway."

  17. Ok, thanks for the info. I am not immune to screw up the terminology of the situation. I was just going off of what he said. It was a first for my to have line twist that almost gave me whip-lash, but hey, i came out ok, and knew my safety procedures, minus the one with my helmet coming off, but its all good. I appreciate the responses, and will change my theory from bag-lock to a simple line twists. There's no doubt since im a newbee, but it was just a first time thing for me, and i wanted to hear from some of you for advice. thanks again for the replies. V/R Brad "Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway."
  18. Well i explained it to my a good friend, who has been jumping for years, and he's a rigger, and he asked me if any rubber bands were broken, and i said yes, one. He replied then that it had to have been a bag-lock! I have had line-twist before, but this one was only twisted 3 times, and mainly in the risers. I don't know, but it was a first to have my head pushed down from the force of it! "Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway."
  19. I experienced my first bag-lock last weekend, woohoo, what an experience. I did a hop-n-pop, exit was 5K and i pulled stable at 3.5K. My opening was instant, and my head was thrust forward with a line twist just in the risers to the base of my neck. I reached back to my neck to get my hands on the risers and try to kick out. Well, i pulled and my Z1 went flying off, and yes, it was buckled, or clipped beneath my chin. Once my helmet and sunglasses took flight on their own, i easily got out of the twist. I then unstowed my toggles, but my left one would not come down, so i look and saw my slider over it, thus fixin the problem. I landed safely, but for the first time since jumping i almost chopped it; just because i was unsure if i would be able to get out of the line twist. After a 2-hour search in the woods for my wife, son, and myself, we were unable to locate my $300 Z1, but my wife did find my $10 sunglasses, what a relief. In all seriousness, it was a learning experience, and yes i packed it, so i will be more carefull when putting my d-bag in my container just before closing it the next time.
