  1. Let the teams have the option of bringing their own videoflyer or pick one up from a pool provided by the organizer. If your team videoflyer gets hurt, use your alternate or pick one up from the pool (or elsewhere). What if we just get rid of the NJ and rejumps? A bust is a bust. If the videoflyer blows the video, the team loses points. If you brought him, he's part of your team and you deal with it the same as any other teammate that makes a mistake. If you picked up the videoflyer from a pool then that was your choice to use a hired gun; everyone makes mistakes. Obviously the organizer should make the best efforts to offer the most qualified cameraflyers but that should be as far as they need to go. Whether the videoflyer is with the team or from the pool, you (the team) live with the results. So what about re-jumps? If a camera shuts off - tough luck; hopefully a second camera was being used. You don't get a rejump for a premature deployment or other equipment problems why should there be one for cameras? If it was your camera flyer that decided to only use one camera that was your/his choice. If you picked a pool camera flyer with only one camera, that again was your team's choice. In reality the top national teams will bring their own camer flyer and have a qualified alternate on the team. The option to use another camer flyer in case of injury allows these teams to continue to compete.
  2. I've had a couple of helmets painted (Sky Systems Factory Diver, Oxygn). I took them to a place that specializes in motorcycles and motorcycle helmets. For a single color, the price was about $40 including prep and primer. A 3-color job which required masking was under $100. In addition to the painting skills and materials, the most important thing is doing very good prep work. I think that even a single color paint job would be difficult to do well with off-the-shelf spray paint.
  3. Don't know if this is helpful but Seattle Fabrics has 5/8" side release buckles. If you only need a few, I have some on hand.
  4. Shannon is no longer marketing weight belts. I manufacture the belts that Shannon was selling so contact me if you want additional information. My email address is [email protected]. Art Bori Cutaway Enterprises
  5. I don't keep the bottle of silicone in my rigger's kit. I picked up a freebie from a PIA Symposium a while back. All it is, is a piece of pack cloth with a piece of polar fleece sewn inside of it. The fleece is loaded up with silicone and folded over...kinda like a silicone taco
  6. I have a black NVertigo that's never been used. Email me for details: [email protected] Art
  7. Hi All, Seemingly mandatory posting disclaimer: I've been lurking for quite a while and with some unexpected downtime I decided to uncloak and post something. I'm recovering reasonably well and expect to get back in the air by May at the latest. As luck would have it, just before I left for the 300-way I walked my girlfriend through the entire process of manufacturing weight belts. Amongst the other things she's already done for me, now she can cover that aspect. Actually before the surgery, we did build some belts. Luckily it was my left leg so I could operate most machines reasonably well; well except for the bar-tacker. I couldn't sit for long but we got everything done and shipped on time. Happy Holidays to all! Art was Red Base - SV6B now downstairs futon - flat on my back.
