  2. I loved Herb Alpert and the TJB. Probably because the first album I ever bought (of theirs) was; "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" (See attached photo) It kicked my late-teen early manhood fantacies into OVERDRIVE! Here's some background info not found on the liner notes: The model is Dolores Erickson. She was pregnant at the time of the photo shoot. She was actually covered with shaving cream (whipped cream kept melting under the lights). The LP was released in 1965 and spent 189 weeks on the charts. Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  3. So Robert will understand how his logic is flawed, someone please print out the attached photos, go to the mall, approach at least 100 people over the age of 45. Show one of the pictures (or #3 Front and Back) and ask: Did anyone in your family (father, brother, uncle, etc.) ever own this tie-bar? Let us know how many ID the photo as a tie bar owned by an older friend or family member. Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum

  5. Now… let’s get down to business. It appears that it is fairly common knowledge (don’t slap me georger, I know that is unsupportable) that Brother Lyle has admitted that he saw the “Unsolved Mysteries” show and thought he could sell a movie story-line by accusing his deceased brother of being DB. After all… he hired Skipp Porteous of Sherlock Investigations to find a particular movie producer, NOT to prove his brother was DB. Les Jones reminds us [Here]: “It's worth mentioning that Lyle Christiansen has a financial motivation in implicating his brother. He came forth with his claims in the context of pitching a movie. There's nothing new under the sun - there are at least two cases where people claimed that their own father killed JFK and tried to land a book or movie deal. As with the new D.B. Cooper suspect the accused were dead when the claim was made. Kenneth Christiansen died in 1994.” Lyle seems to busy himself by inventing (very useful) things. I have attached a few of his patents. Patents are a very good way to learn (a lot) about people. Back in February 2007 Lyle called into a radio talk-show [MJ Morning Show] Lyle finally admitted that the only link Ken Christianson had to DB Cooper was "the one that he (Lyle) dreamed up”. He just thought the story would make an interesting movie. Lyle said he couldn't produce any evidence at all that Ken was Cooper. Remember this was in 2007 right after Geoff Gray’s article. So, knowing this, why have Blevins and Porteous pursued this path. Was Lyle just the luckiest man on earth, one who made up a story out of whole-cloth and a New York detective, not being paid by him, found evidence that the fantasy was, in fact real? You decide! 7. From the post by NexusOfCivility...... The Ellensburg, WA Daily Record said (on 12/20/1972: I’m surprised that someone (maybe georger) wasn’t all over this! Assistant U.S. Attorney Lawrence Finegold boarded NWA Flight 305 at PDX on 11/24/1971 and was released with the other passengers. He was one of the passengers that said he didn’t notice Cooper and hence, wasn’t questioned (by the FBI) more extensively.
  8. Jo, First, I am REALLY glad you made it back in relatively good condition. I last heard from you on Saturday (while visiting my Mom) and then didn't hear again. About Tuesday I decided to call you and realized that I had erased the Cell # when I did a mailbox cleanout. When you called Friday, I had been up since 02:00 AM and was too tired to do much of anything. But, I WAS relieved to hear you were home. Now, I want to talk about something that you need to understand. Your analytical abilities (techniques) are what make everyone get in such an uproar about your assertions. It is NOT that they think you are lying. (There is one notable exception to this, but their analytical abilities aren't that great either.) Here is an “indicator behavior” of this analytical flaw that upsets everyone (yes, including me): You accused Blevins of using information from your story in his book: (Not that I am defending Blevins, he has his own "cross-to-bear") But, there are two common techniques to count off seconds when no clock or stopwatch is available (There are probably more as well). Some say “one-thousand and one, one-thousand and two…” others say “one Mississippi, two Mississippi…” This technique is used in many endeavors, X-Ray Techs counting exposure time, Dark-room Techs counting bath times, Cops counting intervals between two markers to estimate speed or following distance, I used it recently to determine the distance of a lightening strike (by measuring the approximate time from flash to thunder). So, it is a COMMON technique. Therefore Blevins most likely wasn’t even thinking of your (Duane’s) story when he wrote that scenario. When seeing it in Blevins’ book, you should have first asked: “How common is this technique?” The answer would have led you to never assuming it was stolen from your story. As I said, this is just an “indicator behavior” that represents a mindset, a mindset that causes you a great deal of grief. Jo, you have just completed a challenging quest. One that caused many people (who don’t even know the real difficulties you faced) to express admiration for your fortitude. If they knew the whole story, that admiration would double. You showed that you could rise to a challenge and be victorious. So now, I challenge you to learn to use standard analytical techniques, based on logic not emotion. If you do, you’ll find less criticism and more support. Again: Jo you amaze me, I never thought you would do it. AND, you did it YOUR way. When I offered to accompany you (last Spring) and you declined, I thought that decision was “wrong-headed”. Now, I understand… you needed to do it on your own. I WAS WRONG, and I’m not ashamed (or hesitant) to admit it! I know it cost you a lot of money, but that may be the best $5k you ever spent when it comes to your “peace of mind”. As we say in the Deep-South, “You done good-‘n-all”. Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  9. Someone please direct me to the information where the FBI says the Amboy chute was silk. Cossey looked at the chute on April 1st and "had a go" with the reporters and the FBI (April Fool's Day). He said the chute was Cooper's. This little joke caused an article posted on the internet stating the chute WAS Cooper's to be quickly withdrawn and the reporter nearly fired. Neither the FBI nor the reporters thought it was very funny. Cossey made several statements about how much it irritates him for mere mortals to ask him about equipment believed to be Cooper's. Cossey said the chute was silk. The FBI has never made any statement as to the composition of the material (that I know of). Reporters (quoting Cossey) stated the chute was silk, not the FBI. So, we are arguing about the validity of an FBI statement that was never made. This is how/why the mythology lives on at the expense of the truth. Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  10. Laurence Gonzales wrote a book about an airport that I used to fly out of, Galt (10C) near Wonder Lake, IL. The book is called "One Zero Charlie: Adventures in Grass Roots Aviation". It is a great read. Galt is the last vestage of the old G-A airports where friends and families set up grills and lawn chairs between the hangars and runway(s) and make a party out of a Saturday or Sunday of "Club-flying". 11. Last year I heard about (think now) a Explosively Pumped Flux Compression Generator that produced as much EMP as a Nuke. Not a weapon of mass destruction, but rather, a weapon of mass disruption. All electronics fried, structures left standing (with a few fires maybe). Hmmmmmmmmmm????? Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  12. What IS that thang Nexus? An ignitron? Are you building a WMD? I loved Georger's 11 meter story. Chip off the old block. Where is Ckret? I want him to get some Amboy chute info. I suppose Petes DNA wasn't a match for the tie partials. I just wonder how the FBI is so sure the tie DNA was Coopers? 377 My guess is the photo was taken before April 2006. 377: Check out W6UF, W6CHE, and W6XBB in the Bay/Silicon Valley area. 16. RobertMBlevins said: Okay, that’s fair enough, let’s see what she objected to: Interview with W. Wayne Walker Mr Walker, a resident of Ashford, Alabama, runs the most comprehensive research site on the D.B. Cooper case, and has been investigating the hijacking of Flight 305 since 1975. Porteous: I guess I’ll start with a very basic question. One of the biggest debates going on Cooper is whether or not he survived the jump. Do you believe he did? Walker: I’m not a skydiver, so, I have to rely on what I hear from those who are. The chute he used was slightly modified and would have been what the skydivers call “a hard pull.” The chute he selected was a very reliable emergency-type chute. Therefore, the skydivers believe if he pulled… he survived (the terrain wasn’t as big a factor as generally believed). Also, Ms. Mucklow testified that he donned the chute like he had done it many times. Those two issues taken together make me believe that he probably survived. He may have been injured, but not seriously. Porteous: Stewardess Tina Mucklow testified that Cooper tried to hand her three packets of the ransom money, and that she refused it. Does anyone know whether he secured the money back into the money bag, or did he put it somewhere else after she refused it? Walker: First, I’m not really sure it was offered to Mucklow alone. It may have been offered to all three cabin attendants or to Mucklow and Schaffner together (Alice Hancock probably was already off the plane). The bag was open (it had no zipper or other method of closure) and he had not yet sealed it with parachute cord or attached to his body. Therefore, I can’t imagine why he would put the money anywhere other than back into the bag it came from. Porteous: Along that same line, do you think these packets could be the same three packets that were found on the river in Vancouver, Washington in 1980? Walker: I don’t see any evidence to support that theory. To make that assumption would be pure (unsupported) speculation. Porteous: Is there any evidence to suggest that Cooper actually directed a flight plan to the crew beyond ‘we’re going to Mexico City’ and then later just agreeing to try for Reno? Walker: Well, here you have hit a “Sluggo Hot Button!” Early in the investigation there was a belief that Cooper was very knowledgeable about aviation. Then later, it was assumed (by the FBI) that he just had some tangential knowledge. I believe he was VERY familiar with aviation (generally) and the B-727-51 (specifically). I also believe he had studied the navigation charts (FAA Sectional Charts) and chose V-23 as the route he wanted the pilots to use. He did not specify Victor-23, but the things he did specify, made Victor-23 the only viable route southeast. This is a very complex issue, and I can go on for hours discussing it but, for simplicity sake, the best example of what I mean is that he ordered “gear down.” Gear down doesn’t make the plane fly slower, make the door (stairs) open wider, or make the jump safer. The only thing it does is increase fuel burn rate, hence eliminating other routes south. Porteous: The F.B.I. has backed off from their initial theory that Cooper was either a paratrooper, or at least familiar with skydiving. What do you think? Walker: I believe he had some familiarity with skydiving. Most likely it was military experience as a pilot, crew member, or loadmaster (kicker) in a military situation. Remember, when I say “military,” I’m not limiting it to the US Military, he was most likely Canadian. Porteous: It’s been listed in most reports that Cooper said: ‘Looks like Tacoma (Washington) down there.’ At what exact point in the flight did he supposedly say this? Walker: This is the most “over-quoted” and “under-meaningful” testimony in the NORJAK case. This event occurred prior to landing at Seattle. The plane was orbiting (in a holding pattern) out over the Puget Sound (from 15 to 20 nautical miles out). They were at 6,000 ft. MSL, on the 307-degree radial of the SEA VORTAC, out to the LOFAL intersection. The weather was scattered clouds at about 5,000 ft. MSL. They were flying a racetrack-like pattern. On each orbit, Cooper would have seen lights out the starboard (right-hand) windows for about two-minutes (as they turned at the south-most end of the loop). Anyone who knew that they were holding over the Puget Sound would know those lights were the Seattle-Tacoma area. In fact, what he probably saw was Seattle, not Tacoma. Porteous: There have been some minor disputes about how many parachutes were left behind on Flight 305 by Cooper, and which ones he took with him. What do you know about this? Walker: I’m not aware of a dispute. Sources in the FBI have clearly identified that the two chutes remaining on the plane were the “Sport Chute” and the workable reserve (opened and with some shock-cord removed). The two parachutes that were missing were the NB-8 (military-style emergency) and the dummy (training) reserve. Remember, there were no D-Rings on the NB-8 to attach a reserve. Porteous: Robert Blevins and I were able to verify that Christiansen made two major cash purchases between the date of the hijacking and seven months later in July of 1972. One was a $5,000 cash loan to the sister of a man Christiansen had known and worked with for years. The other was a cash purchase of a house and lot in Bonney Lake, Washington that totaled $17,500. Just prior to the hijacking, Christiansen was taking home about $512 a month, had little in the bank, and lived in a very cheap apartment. Do these things, in your opinion, make him a stronger suspect? Walker: No! Every flim-flam man, drug dealer, prostitute, thief, spy, and/or burgler makes purchases that their legal income doesn’t support. If there is other evidence that Christiansen was Cooper, then these purchases (beyond his apparent income) would corroborate the assumptions. But, as a stand-alone issue, they don’t mean much. Porteous: Any other thoughts on the case you’d like to add? Walker: Well, just a cautionary word to all authors, journalist, and researchers. This case has accumulated a mythology that is broader and stronger than the reality. Most of the published “facts” are born from this mythology (and therefore, aren’t facts at all). Initially the myths were propagated by law enforcement’s (LE) lack of candor when releasing public information. Then at the same time LE started “opening-up” to the public, the internet brought its “Cut-and-paste without any critical thinking” culture into the investigation. Finding irrefutable sources almost 40-years after the event is nearly impossible. Porteous: Thank you for your time. (Note from Robert to Wayne: Add your website address and some background about yourself below, and I will add it to the end of the interview for readers.) Web address/background info/short bio goes here: I am 61 years old, married, and getting crabby in my old age. I occasionally work as an Instructional Technologist, Health Physicist, or Human Performance Consultant to Commercial Nuclear Power, Department of Energy, and the National Nuclear Security Agency. Some of my other interests are: Geocaching, NASCAR racing, Amateur Radio, Music (I play trombone), Flying (I am a Private Pilot), hiking, and watching my grandson grow. I have been interested in the Flt. 305 hijacking since just a few years after it occurred (approximately 1974 or 1975). In the early years after the hijacking, the only sources of information (mostly the print media) were already publishing half-truths and mangled facts. Finding quality information was very difficult. At that time, the FBI (the lead agency for the investigation) was not releasing very much information to the public. Since then (beginning in November of 2007) the FBI has started releasing more and more information and revealing some of the data gained from their investigation. The only problem is the new data is being applied to myths about NORJAK rather than the facts. To help remedy this situation, I have attempted to build a “one-stop shopping” website to be used by anyone who wants to know more about the facts in the case and save themselves a lot of time and energy. Sluggo’s “Northwest 305 Hijacking Research Web Site” can be found at http://N467US.com/ . If you wish to contact me you may e-mail me at [email protected] . NOTE TO ROBERT and SKIP: Please change name (in intro) to W. Wayne (Sluggo) Walker. There are more people that know me by “Sluggo” than by Wayne Walker. I will be happy to write a bunch more about the V-23 issue. I just figured you want me to be brief. For more background go to http://n467us.com/Sluggo's%20Personal%20Research.htm to see some work-in-progress about this issue. If the bio is too long delete FROM: Para 2 “… In the early years…” TO: (including) Para 2 “…To help remedy this situation,…” That should shorten it enough. All, See Robert’s point? This page was last revised: April 20, 2010. Yeh… that looks like some updates in 2010. So my answer is “YES”. Why did you ask? Is there some rule that says that the owner of a web-site has to update it at some specific frequency? After some specific newsworthy event(s)? Every time there is a certain number of views. Ohhhhh! I get it… You can’t figure out why there is absolutely no mention of you or your book; “The True Story of DB Stupor.” Well Robert, it’s like this… when you run a web-site like mine, you get a lot of information fed to you from all over the world. 99.9% of that information is stupid shit from kooks. Kooks who think their Dad, Uncle, Brother, Sister, Guardian Angel, or Dog Spot was DB Cooper. I don’t give them any space on my web site for three reasons: #1. It is not in the best interest of protecting the integrity of the web-site. #2. It is not of interest to the general readership (viewership) of the web-site. #3. I own the God-damned thing, I pay for the domain, I pay for the bandwidth, I maintain it, and I say what goes in it. The reasons that there is nothing about you or your book “Into the Bias” are numbers 1, 2, & 3. BTW: You didn’t put the interview (either one of the two) you and Skip did of me in your newest book “Into the Trash: The Pooh Story of DB Cooper”. I’ll bet your reasons are pretty much like mine. 23. Robert_Blevins, Sometimes you make some good points; unfortunately this is not one of those times. First, you probably misunderstood my hastily prepared post of this morning. My point was Rataczak was sitting in the 1st Officer's seat with the cockpit door shut (mostly) and with the handsome bodies of (one or both) Alice* and Flo blocking the door when it was open. Fact: No one from the cockpit left the cockpit throughout the ordeal. (That is Scott, Rataczak, and Anderson*). Now you may "pick and choose" what you want to accept as fact (I certainly do, and so do many others), but some things are accepted just because "they make good sense". Read the transcripts, and then make it work. Why would Rataczak say he never left the cockpit in 1971 and then say he saw the bag in 2010? Well, because there are 39 years of time to forget, embellish, wish, prevaricate, and brag in the interval. Of course, if you really believe the FBI is that incompetent, then you wouldn't believe them if they announced solving the crime tomorrow. Unless, it was Kenny Christ that is! I'm sure you would believe them then. Just go on about your task of locating data-points that will fit along the curve you previously plotted. That's the way a REAL investigation is conducted. PS:* Damn, that name Anderson cropped up again. I wonder where that guy got off to? And... why would no one want to talk to the #1 on Flt 305 (Alice (Peg) Hancock). She should have a lot of answers... After all, she was in charge of the Cabin Attendents (Stewardesses in the day). I read in a book once that, Judas Iscariot talked a bunch for "thirty pieces of silver", I wonder how many pieces of silver it would take to get Peg and Harry to talk. Hmmmmmm! I'll work on that.
