  1. In reply to those suggesting a change to state record rules: Those of you who live in states the size of Europe may forget there's an area of the country which contains the majority of the US population yet has much smaller states. Many jumpers east of the Mississippi have to leave their state just to visit their home dropzone. I traverse four states in the two hour drive to my DZ which is situated on the border of two states. On any given jump we probably have almost as many states represented as we do jumpers.
  2. I wish women would dress more like women, less like homeless men. Dress > dirty sweat pants
  3. I'm not sure if you are really that callous or just playing Devil's Advocate here. ? Your uncertainty if I was being sarcastic (which I was) shows how commonly accepted the idea of male disposability is in our society. Not caring about men dying is pretty standard. Actually, it indicates that you have a posting history that makes it difficult for anyone to presume irony or sarcasm rather than to just assume you mean what you write. And it seems a bit misogynistic to say that the problem for women isn't real because they're not really trying to kill themselves, they're just making lame cries for help. I didn't say the problem wasn't real for women, just pointing out that men commit suicide much more often than women. You said women "attempt it" more often, which misses the point. Suicide is when you successfully kill yourself, not almost OD'ing on drugs. When someone points out a problem that effects men much more than women, they are a "misogynist," but if someone points out a way women have it worse, they are a hero fighting for equality. Perhaps that's why men kill themselves much more often, because they aren't allowed to be a victim like women are. No one cares much about the welfare of men. Women can more easily ask for help.
  4. I am unable to find the data at this point, but I believe that in terms of suicide *attempts*, women are much more likely. But their preferred methods (poisoning in particular) are much less likely to end in death than shooting (preferred by men). Your reply is offensive. This is the same worthless response given every time men's higher rate of suicide is brought up. Perhaps we should actually focus on why men kill themselves much more frequently instead of pointing out that women attempt suicide as a cry for help more often. You've proven my point that people only care about the emotional welfare of women even as men are dying in droves. That you disagree with his reply reflects upon the issue being discussed. That you find his response "offensive" reflects upon you. I say this not unmindful that there's another thread in which you just told Quade "You're so full of shit." Your frothing-at-the-mouth anger tends to overwhelm your posts and the messages you're trying to convey. A lot. I don't expect for an instant that you'll calm the fuck down because I say you really need to calm the fuck down; but dude, you really need to calm the fuck down. Who the fuck do I think I am to tell you that? Nobody in particular, really. You seem to be the one frothing at the mouth here. I'm fine, thanks. I stand by what I've said and I'm sorry you can't handle a little hyperbole.

  7. Who gives a shit? It's mostly men killing themselves after all. If it were women, I might give a shit. And it's not just the US. Suicide is now the #1 cause of death for young men in the UK.
  8. You still haven't given a reason why we need a special bill to protect women and vilify men. I never thought I'd find myself defending people like the men on your list, but at least they're not blatantly pandering to the 52% of voters that are women.
  9. Speaking of child abuse, women commit more of that than men also, but most people don't grab their kids when a woman walks by on the street. And no, I don't think all women are evil, I'm just tired of everyone saying all men are evil as this bill does.
  10. The fact that you claim to be afraid of me just because I'm sticking up for men shows how sexist you are. I didn't say "gender discrimination works in favor of women," I said both men and women are harmed in different ways by traditional gender roles. But that doesn't fit into your neat little "patriarchy" worldview so I'm wasting my time. I hope you like cats because you'll likely be spending your old age with them.
  11. So you're appealing to the fact that men are stronger...that's a bit weak if you look at the facts. Around 40% of domestic violence victims are men and there is literally zero awareness of this fact. Despite men's "greater strength" they don't report their abuse because they will either be ridiculed or arrested. They can't even use their strength to defend themselves from attack or they will be the ones that are arrested. Women initiate domestic violence just as much as men, but only the men get arrested. Not only that, but women use weapons more often to make up for their "lack of strength." They also have much more sympathy under the law and even have a unique legal defense they can use that is not available to men: "Battered women syndrome." Comes in quite handy when you murder your husband and don't want to go to jail. But we need to protect these delicate snowflakes! They are naturally weak and always the victims of big bad men of course. Don't be so afraid of men. We're people too.
  12. Actually I would argue that domestic violence law has swung so far in women's favor over the past century that it actually is discriminatory towards men. If anything we need a "violence against men act." But why do we need to specify the gender at all? Why do we only want to protect women? It's pure and blatant sexism in its simplest form. Quite black and white.
  13. You asked me, I answered. I'm sorry reality terrifies you so much.
  14. This happens to men all the time, but if you're suggesting this still happens to women I'd request you share whatever it is you're smoking with the rest of us.
  15. Care to elaborate on this? In what way is it "open season" on women in "domestic" cases? Usually women are given favoritism over men in these cases under the law.
  16. You're assuming that if there are two boxes they must be the same size. OK Mr Victim, please explain how the mean girls are picking on you. So not only are you saying women have it worse, but you're casting doubt on the fact that men suffer in any way...alright To list just a few, men make up the vast majority of suicides, homeless, victims of violent crime, workplace deaths, combat deaths, etc etc. Bit you're right, only women are ever victims of anything.
  17. In a society that adheres to traditional gender roles, both genders have their freedom of choice removed and are forced into particular roles in order to survive. In these roles, Men and women experience power and powerlessness in different ways. Your viewpoint is only taking into consideration the ways men experience power and the ways women experience powerlessness. You completely ignore the ways men experience powerlessness and the ways women experience power. Likewise in the US, we've only addressed women's problems so far.
  18. Yep. Nope. Ok then, how about men? Do you think men also have no equality and are subjugated & oppressed by having to work outside the home in dangerous & backbreaking labor? How is working physical labor from dawn to dusk every day "power" over those that are receiving the fruits of your labor? It's not power, it's responsibility. Dying for your family is a duty, not a privilege. Traditional gender roles suck for both genders, not just women. Get over the victim complex. Wake the fuck up.
  19. I spent a total of 5 weeks in Subic and saw much worse. Use equine passengers and you'll be getting closer. Blues, Dave You have a problem with women choosing to be sex workers? Are we blaming men because they are the customers? hmm ok
  20. So what are you talking about exactly? Maybe the women stand when the men enter because they're recognizing the sacrifices the men make to protect and support the family. What other examples do you have of women being mistreated by men in the Philippines? What was so shocking? Did the men ride around town on the backs of naked women or something?
  21. Actually, I consider that a pretty good point. I've been in cultures where the women had no desire to embrace the US idea of 'equal'. The women recognized that there is significant power in being a woman if you know how to use it. And they knew how to use it. Obviously, there are downsides to being a woman. But keep in mind that there are downsides to being a man as well. -------------------------------------------------------- My brother lives in the phillipines. Needless to say that over there (ive visited twice) and there is NO equality between men and women. Women...and I mean this literally are meant for two purposes over there...cooking and screwing. This is probably the main reason why my brother went over there. They all wait standing up to allow the men to sit down first. He hired a girl from the mountains to help out around the house. Now over there you dont go to the grocery store every few weeks and load up...you go every day. To get enough food for that meal. You get fresh meat and vegetables every day. Obviously the main goal over there is to find food to eat that day. To say the culture difference is night and day is being modest. So back to the girl...she would get thrown off because the month my brother is there they eat meat...every day...which is like a once or twice a month thing for them. So initially she would be guilty and not eat. Then she flipped the switch and would gorge herself. She was unable to find a comfortable medium and eventually they had to fire her due to her mental problems. So if ANYONE from the USA is concerned about womens rights. Go to the phillipines. Learn a few different cultures. Maybe when you get back youll learn the USA isnt so bad after all in that regard. So you say the women in the Phillipines have "no equality" because they have to work in the home. So, what are the men doing? Most likely highly dangerous jobs, being injured more, and dying younger than the women. They are no more "free" to pursue their "dreams" than the women are. Both are mired in shitty gender roles required for their survival as a unit. Suggesting that the women are in some way subjugated or oppressed more than men is a little silly in this light. I'd rather be in a house than dead.
  22. like being expected to whizz standing up even when you're drunk & dog-tired. I'm just sayin'. oh and all that extra pay above the glass ceiling. real bummer. I'm sorry to break the news to you my friend, but the wage gap doesn't actually exist anymore. Nor does the "glass ceiling." Welcome to the 21st century. There are, however, plenty of men in the "glass cellar." When's the last time you thanked a garbage man? Not many women like to do that kind of work. Women have been freed from their gender roles, men are still stuck in theirs. Wake up bro.
  23. I guess I'm just confused about why we need new laws that punish only men and make women appear even more universally innocent when in fact domestic violence is near 50/50 split on who the offender is, and it's usually mutual violence. Why are we only concerned about "violence against women?" Why not be concerned about violence against anyone? Men are by far the bigger victims of violent crime. We already have laws in place that require the male to be taken away even when he is the victim of domestic violence. Women attack and kill their partners with almost no repercussions in the law whatsoever. Most go completely unpunished. I don't understand why we want to go further down this road. Most male victims of domestic violence are too scared to even say anything or report it because they will just be ridiculed. If you're laughing right now you're only proving my point.
  24. Idiot traditionalists think they can put the genie back in the bottle. Not gonna happen. Marriage is dead.
  25. So, how will this effect atheists, beer drinkers, drug users, and females who skydive in Spain? Do kafir jumpers who visit Dubai have any problems?
