  1. Here's an idea, Don't listen to anyone who gives you advice on the internet. When you have enough experience you'll be able to weed out the bullish!t, but right now you're asking for trouble with a subject like this. What should you do then? Well firstly you don't need to be a swooper to downsize, you need skills! How do you get skills you ask? Lots of sweet jumps and.... Get a coach, get videos of yourself landing and study them with a coach. If you're honest with yourself, you'll end up at a canopy size reflecting your ability, competency, particular interests and risk vs reward factor! Good luck and don't bounce ;-) Skydivers are nothing but a bunch of Narcissistic A$$holes!! Front risers were made for pulling! Pal MuFF#5640 D.S. # 2012
  2. Can a Pulse be swooped? Yes Should you learn to swoop on a Pulse? No Super heavy front riser pressure and they don't like to be loaded. My Wife has a Pulse 150, figured i'd give it a test drive for her :-) btw I weigh 250 out the door. Openings- On heading but super hard/quick :( turns were scary low, nice plain out though, not much left to shut it down at the end of the swoop. IMHO, If you're new and learning the basics, you might want to go to a sabre 2 Skydivers are nothing but a bunch of Narcissistic A$$holes!! Front risers were made for pulling! 3. My preference would be Wings, I've owned Wings, Mirage, Vector and Icon. The vector rig is very well built and high quality but it comes at a price... The Wings is much more inexpensive, especially if you know a dealer ;-) and the delivery time is only 8 weeks compared to vector's 34 or more! The cut-in lateral option is usually free and offers slightly more comfort and better fit. Skydivers are nothing but a bunch of Narcissistic A$$holes!! Front risers were made for pulling! 4. Nice answers to a nice thread, I was expecting a flame war as usual but not so! Nice videos thanks for sharing Skydivers are nothing but a bunch of Narcissistic A$$holes!! Front risers were made for pulling! Pal MuFF#5640 D.S. # 2012
  5. I hear the size of ones Recovery arc is just as important as the length! Skydivers are nothing but a bunch of Narcissistic A$$holes!! Front risers were made for pulling! Pal MuFF#5640 D.S. # 2012
  6. Dude! 1) Swooping safely??? How,why, when, where, and What do you mean? You are a new skydiver and you're performing front riser turns on landing! And by the information in your post, That is not Safe! 2) Insufficient coaching at your home DZ? Where do you jump? any good Swoopers there? If not, go somewhere else ASAP and get appropriate coaching. You will learn much more in a shorter time frame and will have appropriate feedback to help with those bad habits. 3)Jump #'s What's your License? Whats the hurry? Take your time with it dude! You're goal should be the Journey, not the destination. If you're not patient, this sport will bite you. I promise. How accurate are you under your canopy? 4)Recovery arc At your level you do not need to worry too much about different recovery arcs. You do need to know the altitude your canopy uses to do any kind of turn! Front riser, Rear riser and toggles. What is the exact recovery arc for each type of turn you perform? Are you doing straight in double fronts, 90's,180's 270's? If swooping is what you love and are willing to spend the time then moving AWAY from short recovery arc canopies is what you are going to want to do with the assistance of a good coach. Swooping closer to the ground is not safer!! Less time for reaction, less time for correction, please get that out of your head. 5)Swooping safely?? If you want to be safe, Stop Swooping. 6)Please realize your way of thinking is flawed! We do not swoop short recovery arc canopies for safety! One may start swooping under a canopy with a natural quick recovery arc but as skill is acquired and one becomes proficient under that wing he or she will most likely move to a canopy with a longer recovery arc. More time for Reaction and more time for correction. If this doesn't make sense Please see a Coach. Please understand, if you hurry, you will bounce! 7. I almost never post on these forms because of the usual Sh$% show in which I'd prefer being a part of the audience. My Opinion only... But I think it's a nice realistic opinion. 1) Crossbraced Canopies feel much more rigid. That does not mean "safer". In what respect do you mean by that? 2) If you're Comparing a Stiletto to a Velocity you're doing it wrong! The canopy you should have mastered before getting on a Velo is a Katana loaded no less than 1.8:1. The crossfire2 seems to recover too quick to me anyway. 3)Again, My opinion only! If you're not Very proficient/Swooping, loaded around 2:1 minimum and/or not very proficient under a highly loaded canopy then a Crossbraced canopy is not for you. 4) If you're planning on Loading a canopy over 2:1 then a crossbraced canopy will perform better, have much more range in slow and fast flight and will exhibit the qualities advertised and expected. I've seen one guy in particular loading a Katana over 2:1 and he would fall out of the sky, the recovery arc seemed to be more like a straight line to the ground. At his level he was happy to get back on the Velo. So why Jump a Velo if you're not loading it or swooping the F#$% out of it? Consider getting a katana or crossfire2 and work you're way up to a 1.8/2:1 loading before considering getting a race car to drive the family to church... 9. #1 - Eye ball the ground! digital altimeters are great and so are audible altimeters but your Eyes are the BEST!! Use them and trust them. #2 - Concentrate on accuracy first! Be able to land in any direction no matter what the winds are doing and be able to finish the Swoop where you want! #3 - Once you can do that, you can start worrying about techniques and degree of turn! #1 - Oh and the most important!!! Look Awesome, Be Rad and Remember Safety is always #3 Skydivers are nothing but a bunch of Narcissistic A$$holes!! Front risers were made for pulling! Pal MuFF#5640 D.S. # 2012
  10. I will come prepared with rocks to throw at people and hopefully then jump with! But in the meantime I'd like to know if there are any Reputable HEAD DOWN Coaches onsite? Skydivers are nothing but a bunch of Narcissistic A$$holes!! Front risers were made for pulling! Pal MuFF#5640 D.S. # 2012
  11. I'm heading to Lodi March 5-15 and I'm interested in knowing if there are any HD coaches onsite or willing to be? If so, I'd like to bust off 25-40 jumps with a coach. Any recommendations or offers? Feel free to PM me. Skydivers are nothing but a bunch of Narcissistic A$$holes!! Front risers were made for pulling! Pal MuFF#5640 D.S. # 2012

  13. So I now know that Precision has increased the length of the Xaos 27 by 10" and the 21 hasn't been legthened at all! Why has the 27 been lengthened 10" and not the 21? Is it because the 27 is more popular and considered a higher performing canopy? Did the 21 and 27 have comparable length line-sets before this mod? Is there any reason why I can't get a custom line-set made for my 21 made longer? Has anyone ever done this with a xaos 21? I have been considering moving to the 27 this spring anyways but if there's an improvement I can add now, I'd like to! Thanks :-P Skydivers are nothing but a bunch of Narcissistic A$$holes!! 14. Xaos 21 = Sweet sweet Love! She Snivels 800+ feet! Never opens hard! She sometimes searches but nothing like a velo! Pretty Rad for an X-braced! Haven't Jumped it but I heard the JFX is similar with a quicker opening. Skydivers are nothing but a bunch of Narcissistic A$$holes!! Front risers were made for pulling! Pal MuFF#5640 D.S. # 2012
  15. Good choice on the Xaos 21 I just got a 108 loaded at 2.2 and I love it!! JFX is next on the list to try Skydivers are nothing but a bunch of Narcissistic A$$holes!! Front risers were made for pulling! Pal MuFF#5640 D.S. # 2012
