  1. Have you joined RelWorkers? I think Sven was looking to start a novice comp for RelLeague this year - so maybe check him out at Relworkers.
  2. Previous article by this reporter on the incident drawing heavily on this thread
  3. Sid Hill and Bates are the most used brands that are around here for stock saddles - we used a Sid Hill Cox Poley for a long while this is not an extreme stock saddle - these weigh around 25lbs and they do tend to move your seat around a bit - they are rock solid - deep seat, good thigh rolls. Below is a link to an Australian saddle site to give you an idea of the various types of saddles that are around. The Sid Hills and Bates are built around very solid trees using quality leather - that is what you pay for. A quality synthetic comes in weighing much lighter - so depending on how much weight the horse is going to carry these could be an option too. {http://shop.valleycountry.com.au/catalogue/category2/category109/category118} Have far more serious injutries riding than jumping so stay safe
  4. And of course if its got a little tear and you have a bad landing and the tear rips off and jams in the knee - well then you can get a knee reconstruction and then have 12 months for the meniscus (or whats left of it ) to heal.
  5. After a quick check of Google the "average" risk of dieing in a car accident in the US is 1 in just under 8 million trips and from the USPA site just over 1 in 80 000 jumps thats about a 1 in 1000 ratio ( they are not the same but a good indication of the relative risks) "Feeling" you are just as safe may not be a good way to prepare mentally for any jump.
  6. Hi if you arelucky these websites may point you to the US distriibutors of quality Australian Wine www.houghton-wines.com.au (that ones for Squeak) www.penfolds.com.au www.taylorswines.com.au www.henschke.com.au (buy him a bottle of Grange or Hill of Grace and he will be your friend for life) He may be a Bundaberg Rum fiend - Anyway Australia (being the size of the US - excluding Alaska) is a large diverse country - and we do tend to have regional variations in our cuisine - how about asking him what favourite sorts of dishes he got at home - you may be suprised at what his mum cooked up - how about a pavlova for dessert - as close to traditional Ausise weding fare as you can get.
  7. Isn't that ANZAC day - oops that happened in Turkey - sorry my mistake

  9. From memory - its in a recent ASM somewhere - just under 3,000
  10. 8:00 pm Sunday here - tomorrow night is still young
  11. Been pushed out from late June early July until mid or late August very frustrating - especially as there is no pain over a wide range of movement fancy Perris in Late August
  12. Dave - finally gave up and signed up - remind me not to tease the natives - see you in August
  13. Just had a minor tear of Labrum repaired - March 30 - jumped for 3 months with it no problems - am in absolutaly no pain - have just been told no way back in the air before mid-Augst - risk is tearing bicep of shoulder - so be very careful - pain is not an indication of where you are at
  14. Have done quite a few LCCs - and my B at Ramblers - if you contact them you can arrange to do AFF at the LCC in the one week - someone arrived the weekend before one - left the next weekend with their A and B - worth checking out. You could probaly do the same at an ABC at Skydive Nagambie as well - also worth checking out.
