  1. Jerry, One of the great DZ.comers out there is sending me the specs for a 24' sleeve. I have access to a long sleeve for a jumbo. I should be able to compare the two and come up with a plan. I'd sure like to run across a ready made sleeve though. :) Thanks, Cael
  2. I need a shorty sleeve for a 28' Jumbo PC. Does anyone have one they can part with? I can also make one if I have to if someone can come up with the specs. Ideas? Thanks, Cael
  3. Zoombrothertom, Those are close but I'll bet you when you see a pic of the B7 live preserver system I have it will ring a bell. It's the PFD system the Army uses (or used to at least) for paratroopers. I jumed them in Panama a lot because every DZ we jumped had a water hazard. I'll post a pic when I get them out next time. but for now here's a pretty good pic of a Mae West. Look at the lowest jumper on the left. ATW, CK
  4. Stratostar, I guess I need to do a better job of explaining. I did start with the apex on the bottom at the top of the POD but S folded it on top of itself similar to the way the canopy is stacked in a chest reserve ending with the stabilizers on top. I didn't stow it the side to side way it's done in a D bag. Thanks, Cael
  5. thanks for the info guys. I packed it as described. the POD lays flat and I S folded it like a chest reserve except starting with the apex. It will take me a couple of times to get the sizing just right but it closed up just fine. (that's a LOT of velcro!) Stowing the crown and suspension lines was strait foreword. The only part that bothers me is just folding the stabilizers and lines on top and then closing it up. I know that if the stabilizers and lines get mixed up it's malfunction junction. A friend of mine that has over 1000 PC jumps was giving the POD the harry eyeball. He said he never jumped those things and didn't like them. It made me a little nervous. We'll see how it goes soon. I'll post some pics of the POD etc next time I pack it. ATW, Cael
  6. I recently got a Jumbo PC with a POD. I've been packing my MK1 PC with a Shorty sleeve but have never packed a POD before. Does anyone have the instructions and some tips for malfunction free POD packing and jumping? Thanks, Cael
  7. The Rangers have also done some static line combat jumps in Afghanistan. Military static line jumping is still very much alive. Hoo Ahh!
  8. MRE cheese? Buhahahahah! I've never heard that but I was only on jump status for 11 years. Mabe he's got it wrong and you're supposed to stick the cheese in your fourth point of contact to prevent a problem on landing. HA! ATW, CK
  9. WOW! That gear looks like it's in GREAT shape! very cool. Have fun with it. ATW, CK
  10. This thread has a lot of positive vibes man. It reminds me of a Dead song......."we gotta share what we gotta use because we done shared all of mine" er someting like that. Cael
  11. My handy dandy Para-Commander handbook lists the RWPC as the logical development of the MK1. "the 1.5oz ripstop fabric is very brightly colored" I've never seen one or a pic of one. (I think) ATW, CK
  12. Howard, It looks like a MK1 with an Iron cross type color pattern to me. Next time I get the chance I'll take a look at the camo one and get more info about it. great PC info on this thread! ATW, Cael
  13. It's tough to find a good PC. I bought one that is junk for $100 but it came with a 3 pin pioneer H/C that is in excellent shape. so it was worth it. I found the MK1 I'm jumping now just by asking the seller of another canopy I was buying if he had any PC's available. I've been on the lookout for an olive drab PC for some time. I contacted Stratostar about it but the one he knows of is in the collection he mentioned. BTW, has any one heard of a "Black Knight" PC? It's a 24'er that is in dark camouflage. I'm told it has extra slots in the apex and will really thump you if you sink it in. ATW, Cael
  14. Howard, I thought I was doing good just having a shorty sleeve. Thanks to everyone for the answers. ATW, Cael
  15. What is the correct length and type of braided cord that keeps the sleeve attached to the canopy after deployment? I have a shorty sleeve on a MK1 PC. The cord I have is worn and has broken on the last two jumps. Thanks, Cael
  16. Your friend must have been in the 505th RCT. I went to their reunion in San Antonio this Sept. I met so many guys with 4 combat jumps I lost count. There was even a veteran there with 5 combat jumps. He had make 4 with the 505th in WWII and 1 with the 187th in Korea! Those guys are great and if you show interest the will tell you great jump and combat stories. Besides skydiving I jump with the WWII Airborne Demonstration team. We jump from C47's with WWII uniforms and equipment to honor the veterans. We use MC1-1C's and -1B's. We have a few T-7's that some of the skinny guys on the team jump. If you know any WWII paratroopers please tell them to contact us. We have a lot of WWII vets as legacy members of the team and they have a great time with us. www.wwiiadt.com Thanks, Cael
