  1. Just completed my AFF at this drop zone, the people are awesome, Dan and Leslie are both encouraging and supportive, couldn't ask for a better vibe whilst learning. the pilot is also a champ, can't rave enough about my introduction to this wonderful support :) THankyou Kalbarri Skydive! I recommend to all to check this little diamond of WA out. blue skies!
  2. We use DVD architect, will this make a difference?
  3. The firmware and settings on the card say : "info version":"1.0", "firmware version":"HD2.08.12.38", "camera type":"HD2", Thanks guys, I think I'm getting closer to resolving the issue. These forums are a great to way to gain information! :)
  4. Thanks thats excellent news! I'll have to ask my tech guy. Do you know if I'll have to change it every time I edit a gopro hero and then a hero2, or is there a happy place codec that will do them both? Cheers.
  5. Sorry, yeh the render in Premiere comes out well but during editing the source is slow. The render in Vegas has pixelization.
  6. Yeh, the biggest problem is under canopy when the slider is flapping and the TM can't reach it, we didn't have as bad of a problem with the original go pro Hd's though
  7. Render in Vegas, adn the source in Premeiere.
  8. Hi guys. Just wanted to post my issues and gather any information you may have as well. We have a few new gopro hero 2's at our dz and we have found that the video is a bit of a problem during editing. We have Sony Vegas and Adobe premiere. We found that there is a lot of pixel-ization (if that's a word) in the sunny spots in the sky or the water. Also, it's when there is a bit of jiggle the shot looks blurry. We've tried a few different modes and fps but it's still an issue. Totally bummed cause the colors and sharpness is excellent compared to the original hero HD's. Premiere runs really slow cause of the frame rate if we use 50, but it helps with the pixelization if we use 50 (?) The photos however are awesome. In 5mp's in the 1/2 second mode they are sweet, and the colors are much better than the hero HD. Has anyone else used these yet and run into any problems or encountered a way to fix them? (please don't say use another camera- I'm trying to see if there is a way to fix this issue with this particular camera) Cheers!
  9. So it looks like one of the other tiny dslr models, the Samsung nx-10 offers and optional wired remote. Maybe this could be an alternative? Also, the sony nex offers a 'smart accessory terminal'. The only thing I can find on this is that you can put a flash in it- but with a name like 'smart accessory terminal' one would think you could adapt more than just a flash?
  10. Ooh! I'm totally obsessed with this camera and I'm ready to preorder! I've never flown stills because of the weight issue, so I need a little guidance on which model would be best. The 3 or 5? Would the 16 or 18-55 mm be the best choice? Looks like you can put any alpha lens on it, and there IS a wide angle and fisheye option as well. Which one is recommended for freefall shots?
  11. As well this is from video. It's me and my boyfriend in Mourya Australia around xmas time this past year
  12. I spent just over 2 months in New Zealand and visited many of the dropzones. I must say that Abel Tasman has not forgotten what 'fun jumping' is. Most other dz's balk at sportys because our ticket price is not good enough to even consider the financial loss that may occur if they allowed us on a load. Heck some even just jack up the price to $75-$100 for sportys in which case WE have to consider the financial loss. NOT Abel Tasmen. they were a breath of fresh air. From the first time we set foot on the dz we were treated with hospitality. Not only was the entire staff friendly, but the even wanted to jump with us! Even they're students were cool ;) They also have some kitchen facilities and front porch seating for your typical skydiver shootin the s&*t downtime.. and the after jumping social time ;) The views are great, mountains and ocean all around. Weather was always nice. Fletcher is quick and seats 10. Hands down best dz in NZ.
  13. Mmm Hmm. Jewels and I both learned HD in the tunnel, and I must say it worked well for us. However, don't go in there with expectations to get it in an hour. I had about 2-3 hours before I even started learning HD. And it took another 2-3 hours to get off the net unassisted. Then another 2-3 hours to transition from a sit. That's just me, but be ready to spend a lot of time :) Aside from cost, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Oh yeh, cost wise it's waaaay cheaper than trying to learn in the sky. I also feel consistency is key. Once a week is good, but I really started feeling an improvement when I was going 2x/week. Look into a league @ your local tunnel if you can. It's most cost effective, and gives you consistency. Also, just being on the net and feeling out the body position really helps with flying in the sky. It allows you to experience what it feels like, even if your not flying it by yourself in the tunnel. So, even if you don't spend all those hours perfecting it in the tunnel, you'll still get help with flying in the sky.
  14. I'm going to be posting clips of edited footage on my website as I travel, and then make one big movie when I'm done. I'm going to keep a few tapes with me and send them to a friend in the US to store for me for when I get back in case I need them. I was thinking about saving the edited footage on disc and sending that back also, however, the apple people told me its better to import footage from tape, and maybe impossible (?) to import off of DVD.
  15. Do you mean 'bigger' as the tetra drives or the 500- 750 size? I could see how a few 500's would be beneficial in case one fails you don't lose everything.
  16. hey all, looking for some suggestions. I have a mac laptop, and will be traveling extensively for a year. I've discovered I'm gonna need an external hardrive. The compact sizes generally run 120G-160G. The "bigger" models run 350G-750G and a tetra-mother size. Is it realistic to expect that I will want all of my footage (raw and edited) stored on the drive requiring the super big one? Or, will I probably load on a few tapes, edit, use the footage and move on? I'm gonna keep all my tapes, but I may want to go back and use parts of the edited footage too. I'v ebeen shooting 3-5 hrs of footage a month. Any suggestions?
  17. Thanks for the warning, I'm used to jumping in CO: alt 5,200. So much fun :)
