If no-one never exercises their rights (in this case, telling a cop "No, I have the right to refuse that request") then it won't take long for the police to get used to being able to do just whatever the hell they want to you and your property. I've forced a cop to call in drug dogs and a good number of officers after a refusal to allow him to search my car. 3 to 4 hours later and most likely a lot of the taxpayers money being wasted, they fucktard gave me my ticket and i was out of there laughing my ass off at what a bunch of Barney Fifes they were. Any dog will be a deterrent. Big dogs are better of course, but you don't have to go for a pitbull or a rotwieller. People underestimate how much damage an irish setter or golden retriever will do to an intruder because they are usualy only exposed to thier family-mode disposition. Hopefully it never has to protect you and you just will have one of the most faithfull companions a person can have.
