  1. They certainly deserve it My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  2. Like this all would have been okay if the girl had just been 18-years old? I have no idea. 18, 15 whatever..it just seems so disturbingly cruel that I cannot fathom how people like that could be hired as law enforcement. According to the story this has happened before. I guess the only good that can come from this is the media attention and presure from international groups will hopefully force the authorities to prosecute the guards responsible and throw away the key on these guys, which hopefully may ensure that there will not be repeat incedents of this behaviour. After something like that I am not sure she will ever be fully normal My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  3. http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/americas/11/23/brazil.prison/index.html A 15 year old girl was left in a cell with 20 male inmates. The obvious happened and now human rights advocates are pushing an investigation. Be forewarned if you read the article it is quite upsetting. Her jailers had to be perfectly aware of what would happen to her so in my opinion they are as guilty as the inmates who raped her. I guess one can only hope that the international attention to this will force the government to bring those responsible to trial and adequately punish them. Anyone familiar with brazils system? Will she get any real justice? Is this common practice there? My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  4. (sniff, sniff) "You smell that?" (sniff, sniff) "No, I don't smell anything." "Exactly! We're in Canada!" My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

  6. Met the Hit Man I presume? Good guy or bad guy? Anyway, that is my take on it. Vargas is more skilled but maybe weaker chin. What about his psychological strenth? 7. Generally haven't run into that kind of cop (except in quebec but that is a unique place). Most cops I have come across were ok, and as a matter of fact most were pretty ok to me even as a young guy when I got caught doing things that I shouldn't have. What the hell kind of cops are you running into? Is it possible that maybe your own attitude towards them may have had some influence on your experiences with them? Big difference between reaching into your pocket suddenly and merely not following his commands. If I was a cop and someone was being beligerent and made a sudden movement and reached into his pocket/jacket I could panick. Are you that overwhelmingly perfect that you couldn't? Maybe you need to take off the shit coloured glasses Depends on what you did before you ran When has a court of law ever said that it was? He should show some restraint, but if you are deliberately intimidating him like that don't expect me to cry my heart out when you panick him and get a darwin. You know, maybe you need to step back and examine your all consuming hatred for cops, and your tendency to accuse everyone who does not subscribe to your cop hating as being cop worshipers. If a cop is being a goof, I will do what he says and put in a complaint after the fact. Too many bar-room lawyers and cop haters create their own problems. I do not worship them but at the end of the day their job is to keep me safe. I cannot fathom why somene would wish to be in their face for trying to do thier job but again, maybe you and I have consistently ran into different kinds of cops. Alternately your attitude may be the real problem when you interact with a cop. 8. True, but these "mistakes" tend to happen to those who live outside the law far more frequently than those who don't. I suspect that if a cop pulls over a guy with an extensive record he has a better than average chance of hitting the jackpot if he goes on a "fishing trip" My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  9. Umm, maybe a little something called exercising your rights? If no-one never exercises their rights (in this case, telling a cop "No, I have the right to refuse that request") then it won't take long for the police to get used to being able to do just whatever the hell they want to you and your property. I guess I have dealt with different cops than you. The ones I have run across would not do such a thing unless some circumstances gave them a hell of a reason to be suspicious. Why are we all so afraid of the cops? Why make thier lives a living hell? Maybe the cop knew him. Maybe the cop ran his plate and based on what he saw figured there was a damn good reason to search. No offence to freethefly but by his own admission he has multiple DUI's, and beat the shit out of a guy in road rage. In my experience it as always people who frequently put themselves in the way of the law that are the ones that have these "abuse of power" anectdotes. I have ran into one dickhead cop in my life and one that was a mild jerk. Nobody who I know tat obeys the law has had a problem yet my friends with criminal records seem to always have them. My point is, that I doubt the cop just pulled over a guy for going ten over the limet and saw him on the way to school or church and said "wow...I feel like flexing my authority for no other reason than I can". Something must have made the cop curious. Why handcuff them? My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  10. Why be like that to them? Just because you can? Why do they need to search for a simple speeding ticket. For the chance that they may find a joint? Bullshit. If all i did was go a few miles over the limit that does not warrent a search of my personal belongings So this cop just pulled over an innocent looking guy for speeding and without any reason just arbitrarily decided to search the car? I have never in my life had that happen so I tend to suspect that as with most stories nlike this there is more to the story. There was nothing you did at all to make him suspicious of you? 11. Anyone got a prediction on this? I have not been following the sport for awhile but I am curious. Not a big mayorga fan but I like Vargas. Both have had upsets but while I feel vargas has better skills, mayorga is more psychologically sound. The guy can loose a hundred fights in a row without it affecting his confidence whereas vargas has not looked the same since his de la hoya and trinidad fights. Really hoping for vargas but skeptical. Any opinions? My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  12. Yes, it's really screwing with my head trying to mesh this with the stereotype we in the US have of Canuckia. I think I need to go back and watch "Canadian Bacon" again. Not sure how much time you have spent up here, but I have spent much time in the US. There is really not that much difference between the macro canadian culture and the macro US culture but city by city we differ from any one of your cities as much as your cities differ from other US cities. Vancouver is much like Seattle, Toronto is apparently a cross between Chicago and Detroit, the Maratimes (Newfoundland, Newf Brunswick, Newfa Scotia..etc) are very much like Boston or New England. Guns are somewhat less culturally prevalent here but that does not mean that we do not have guns. An interesting point to note is that before the montreal massacre in the 80's we actuall had weaker gun laws than many states. As for power trippers in uniform, you can find that anywhere. Watch the stereotyping of us though, lest we get a bad case of small man syndrome and overcompensate. 13. Bullshit! Would you allow the police to search your car during a routine traffic stop? I've forced a cop to call in drug dogs and a good number of officers after a refusal to allow him to search my car. 3 to 4 hours later and most likely a lot of the taxpayers money being wasted, they fucktard gave me my ticket and i was out of there laughing my ass off at what a bunch of Barney Fifes they were. They cop told me that I could had saved them a lot of time had I only let him search my car. I told him to fuck himself, took my ticket and left. My lawyer got it reduced to a parking ticket. Sure, I could had let that bozo search my car but why? Why be like that to them? Just because you can? 14. Gosh these Canadians are violent My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  15. Given your desire to kill cops if I met you I would certainly be frightened and expect the worst. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  16. Right. Sorry My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  17. What is your beef with cops about? And don't straw man me by accusing me of thinking they are all good because I have seen some real shitheads (as with any profession). Why do you so desperately want to see cops dead on the ground? My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  18. Very sad. I cannot even begin to imagine how he felt about it when he saw who it was. Can you imnagine what it must have been like for him to tell her parents? 19. Not fun. I do think the guy went a bit over the top however. I believe that once you have breached the perimiter of a persons home the gloves should come off, but going outside the way he did and making those statements reeks of bloodlust and vigilanteism. Could lead to an innocent person getting hurt. Not that I have any real sympathy for the burglars, thier mothers should have had abortions and he rectified that oversite. I would just hate to see some kid playing hide and seek get shot. 20. As it should be. Just out of curiosity, what are the burglary rates in Texas compared to a similar state (size, demographics, economy..etc) where shhoting burglars is a little less fashionable? www.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2006/index.html Look it up. Oh crap, your actually going to make me put some effort into this My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  21. But, but, but ... It isn't their fault. It is our fault. They had the potential to be anything and we let them down. Exactly....it's the systems fault, its societies fault. The village failed to raise the child. They should be given victimization credits towards thier next conviction (twice as many if they are minorities). 23. Can we please keep this discussion out of Speakers' Corner. Please, please pretty please? Feel free to start a parallel topic over there but right now I'm just looking for a little support from my friends in Bonfire. A lot of freaking good your bonfire friend support system will do ya when someone gets in and rape and kills you. If you are unwilling to protect yourself with violence then it is your own fault when you find yourself on the ground bleeding. Get a weapon and learn how to use it. The cops will not protect you as it is not their job to do so. They only come into play after the crime. Your friends on this board are definetly not going to protect you. Feely good support does absolutely no good when someone is splattering your grey matter against your chalky white walls. Only you can protect yourself. If you are unwilling to do that, then you are the one to blame for what happens to you. Time and place for everything My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

  25. Any dog will be a deterrent. Big dogs are better of course, but you don't have to go for a pitbull or a rotwieller. People underestimate how much damage an irish setter or golden retriever will do to an intruder because they are usualy only exposed to thier family-mode disposition. Hopefully it never has to protect you and you just will have one of the most faithfull companions a person can have.
