  1. Wait, WHAT? There was not a single post above that being anything but nice and trying to help a newbie camera flyer. But of course you know everything already don't you. ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. 1) camera flying costs (a lot of) money 2) a dvd camera is totally unsuitable for skydiving 3) you don't listen to any of the advice here from very experienced jumpers + your own camera flyer Good luck with camera flying ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Plenty of posts in this forum about the GFX, including some of mine. Personally I would not buy one based on the product quality of the GFXs I've seen, alone. Also Parasport's customer service is non-existant. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. Me either, and all of a sudden I have zero interest to ever jump there ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. He might be doing it wrong, but that entire DZ is wrong for letting him do all that. Don't they have some regulations about using tandems as "flying base for students" (plus jumping camera, plus flying a damn circuit) in Poland? ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. AFAIK, he still is a staff member of Aviacom. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Nol Camfferman is a rigger (AFAIK both Dutch and FAA), and he's also a TM/AFFI. He has packed my reserve at least once and I've jumped with him a few times. Not sure what other vouching you want/I can give you ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. Meh, I've had a 2out with 2 very compatible canopies (student main and student reserve) and they still downplaned. I also had a good number of reserve rides, both as real reserves and as mains. I agree with "get the biggest reserve you can" because the chances of you flying just your reserve are way way higher than a 2out and even if you have a 2 out, no guarantees the 2 canopies will play nice together. F.i. I very very much doubt my vengeance will play nice with any size reserve. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. I had more trouble with the occasional weird opening (inflation issues) when I underloaded my vengeance at 1.15-ish. Solution: gained a good amount of weight and now fly it at 1.4 Canopy opens a lot better now ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. Aside from the tips already given, I find a few simple tips helpful: - Never get behind the edge of your target field, especially if it's even a bit windy (this presumes a big landing field, if not, get help from your instructor about where the "do not cross" line should be). Make your pattern "wider" rather than "longer" if you need to to not get so far back you cannot make it back into the wind. - Never fly low above something you do not want to land on. - Always aim for the middle of a field, ie give yourself room on final if you made an error in the winds - less wind means you'll fly further, more wind means not as far, and some room left/right means you can easily avoid someone else if need be. Never paint yourself into a corner. ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. This one just showed up in my facebook feed ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. No idea. For me personally this letter seems to do no good whatsoever, as I have had my cutter replaced, both of my rig have the cutter up top and The Netherlands have grounded all Argus AADs regardless of manufacturer's opinions at this time. ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. I got this today: ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Now why on Earth would you think we need to grow up? Most of us Dutch wingsuiters are quite mature, thank you ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. The error99 thing was exactly why I switched to Nikon a few years back. No regrets ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Try wrapping up the camera body in plastic (use something like a garbage bag) and some ducktape, make it (air)tight. Try jumping it like that. ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. If that was a sony .6, that lens is about as wide as a hama .45 (or even a bit wider). And that's on the same camera. Numbers don't tell the whole story. Try before you buy. I was used to the sony .6/hama .45 on older cameras so I bought the raynox hd5050 for my HC5/CX105. Stupid move, it was way too narrow for me. The raynox hd3030 series are awesome though IMO. ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. No, you just are told to keep your arms in front of your body for the freefall part, not "fly" as that puts pressure on your shoulders. IMO, if you're having pain now, jumping freefall by yourself might not be a good idea. Definitely tell your instructors about your issue, for your own safety. ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. My fusion has 1000+ jumps and is on it's 2nd lineset. Absolutely nothing wrong with this canopy. My vengeance has way less jumps, is also on it's 2nd lineset but has a good numer of patches and other repairs done. It doesn't look as nice, but this canopy is also quite airworthy. So, it depends. F111 canopies are a no go. Anything hybrid you have to look at real good. ZP, if it's been taken care of halfway decent and been jumped over grass and not been wet, probably no biggie. Most canopies I think are retired before their useful life is over, because of newer models coming out. ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. Also, no place to put an audible altimeter (later on you'll want one, or even 2). ciel bleu, Saskia
