There is no comparison between 1800skyride and the phone number of 1800skydive. The phone number is a number that DZ's request from the phone campany if it's available in their region. Almost every one of the DZ's that have that number are just independant DZ's that got the number. When someone calls that number, they will normally get the DZ's that they will be jumping at. Not saying they are getting the closest DZ to their home, but at least it will be in their geographical region. With Skyride, someone will call them, let's say that person is in Kansas. Skyride sells them a gift certificate or even schedules them for a jump, then after they've got their money, they tell them that they will have to go to Cedartown, Ga. to jump. Or they would have to go to California. Whether it be Georgia or California, the customer still has to travel much farther than they would have to if skyride had not flooded the internet market with their bogus websites. Hence referring back to my earlier post that said they are advertising to be IN the cities or states, and not NEAR those locations. Refuse to Lose!!! I certainly don't have that kind of money, but that's why they call it "Class Action". Well I guess it was an idea anyway. It's kinda like Thomas Edison trying to invent the light bulb. He tried several hundred different ways to make the light bulb work before he actaully got it right. His friends kept asking why he keeps trying stuff that failed, He replied that "Those ways did not fail, They just did not work." The moral of the story is that maybe my idea of reporting them to ICANN won't work and other people's ideas like Google bombing or the law suits that are going on, but that don't mean that those efforts have fail,(or will fail) It only means that they did not work. Yep, that's just like the Tennessee market. No one here accepts their certs, but yet they still advertise to be in Nashville, Memphis, etc. Like I said earlier, if they would only add a location and state on their websites that they are NEAR the cities or states, I would believe that a large protion of the complaints that jumpers and wuffo's alike have would deminish. The reason that smaller DZ's that don't use them loose so much business is because of this false perception that they are IN the city, not NEAR. Refuse to Lose!!! The point was that for someone to support a cause in which someone else or in the cases of skyride or Bush, everyone gets screwed and can't seem to do anything about it,,,, yet. The first thing, GO THE HELL AWAY SKYPAPA! You are not welcome here! And secondly, The idea is a pretty good one to hold it over the other guy's head, but I just can't see us lower ourselve to the level of joining those crooks. I would rather have less business and know that I provided a good, honest service instead of having to worry about some unhappy customer being all over my ass or even get stuck in the middle of their legal issues. And you are right, if someone is looking at skydiving websites whether it be one of skyride's or a site from a REAL skydive center, that person has already made the concious desision that "I want to jump out of an airplane". The only problem I can see with that is that, and I could be wrong, but a; the DZO's that do take the certs are going to be too hard-headed to take the hint and b; There's enough business that I don't think it would hurt the DZO that does take the certs. My DZ is not a USPA DZ yet, but we were planning to join over the winter but if they do let SLYride back in, we will absolutely not join. The only accociation we will have with USPA will be to keep our licenses current so we can go to boogies without be put though the wringer at registration or manifest. Thanks again for the feedback. If their supporters say they are doing nothing wrong, then why do they advertise to be "IN" Nashville, or "IN" Memphis, and not "Near" the city. In Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga, they even give an address, which when someone tries to go to that address, they find either an office building or a residential neighborhood. In their Nashville advertising, the downtown address is one of the skyscrapers. The other one is 2013 Hutton ave. which is a house in a residential neighborhood. Whoops! I slipped up and replied to Skypapa... I see after going back and reading the other posts, and noticing at the bottom of his posts that he is a skyride supporter, maybe even MR. Skyride himself. The only reason we would not know who he is is because he won't come out of his cloak. He may even be the guy who got my original post in the General forums locked. The idea is that since everyone has been trying to get them to quit doing the fraudulent and unethical stuff, and they are not going to stop, it's time to go straight to the source of the domain. ICANN has the power to put a stop to it, but it will take a few hundred reports and complaints to get their attention. It's not a question of IF they can be stopped, it's just a question of HOW? If we can get everyone that wants to stop skyride dead in their tracks to Report them to http://www.ICANN.org. ICANN is Internet Corporation of Names and Numbers. They are the TOP controlling authority over domains and the use of. They will investigate the way skyride is using their domains and once they have found fraud, they will turn off their websites and possibly take away their domains. ICANN has that kind of power. The important thing is that if someone files a complaint with ICANN, is to makes sure to add as much information as you can. Especially add as many of their domains as you can. Add the details of how they are marketing those domains and add their business practices and they way they get credit card numbers before they give a location. Another very important detail to add is the legislation that Skydive Arizona has against them as well as the state of Georgia and any other legislation that may be out there. Also add the links to the news media reports that Gephart (CBS, Utah) and Randy Travis (Fox, Atlanta) ran on skyride. If ICANN gets enough complaints containing valid details and information, they will launch an investigation to stop the fraud. If we can all pull together and innodate ICANN with as many complaints as we can, this be the feather in our hats to finally get rid of the cancer that is give our sport a black eye.
