  1. Yes, because at that time the rest of the world was keeping and raping without even noting their existence. At the time this was written, it was inconceivable to consider blacks (and other indentured servants) human. Thank goodness we have evolved beyond that. We are all engines of karma
  2. Realistically, it's pretty late if they're in their 20's. It needs to start much sooner than that. Right now in New York City, many of the public schools for blacks (and hispanics) are major failure factories. There are those parents who are trying very hard to get into charter schools. The waiting lists for these schools are very long. Yet, NYC government continues to enable bad teachers in bad schools, completely ignoring the crisis this is. And, somehow these people keep getting elected by the very votes from these people who are doomed to a meager existence because of said failure factories. It is a vicious cycle. I'm not hating anything here. There have been no personal attacks in my replies, nor have I advocated violence. That does nothing good, and ends up doing much wrong. Current government policies have exacerbated this problem for 50 years. There is something seriously wrong here, and it's time for my country to have a hard conversation about this. Dude, I've been around this topic for a long time. Yes, horrible things have been done to blacks in the past. That can't be seen as an enabler for the ongoing current issues with the small percentage of blacks who continue to self-inflict damage on themselves and those around them. Drinking out of a different water fountain is not what has caused the current environment where it's ok for BLM to call for dead cops, and lo and behold, cops are being hunted now while the Obama administration says they have legitimate concerns. Sounds peachy keen. There's already more than enough social services for this element of the population, and it's going in the wrong direction. There are many active neighborhood associations (especially churches), county level associations, state level associations, and federal level associations. It's going in the wrong direction. Someway, somehow, a different set of expectations needs to be set. I appreciate the reasoned reply you shared here. We are all engines of karma
  3. Where do you find these, dude? Plus, it was interrupted half way through for a RNC advertisement. LOL... We are all engines of karma
  4. Work harder how? I think you've at least got the correct phrase in the conversation - work harder. But that applies to everyone. How so? I'm really curious to see you dive a bit deeper into that statement, for me, please. We are all engines of karma
  5. I haven't been talking about black people. Let me repeat that, I have not been talking about black people. If you want to get in that line, it's a long one, and you'll have to go to the end. We are all engines of karma
  6. That particular number, murders in the US. That vast majority of that is "socio-challenged blacks" on "socio-challenged blacks". That's the whole issue here. "Socio-challenged blacks" make up a small fraction of the 13% of the population that is black in America. Yet they account for well over half of crimes committed in America. That's the issue here. It's not like whites and hispanics are committing crimes in proportion to their population numbers. It's the "socio-challenged blacks" that are doing so, and far in excess of their numbers in society. Thus, the greater emphasis on those folks by LEOs. And, it's the black neighborhoods that need the LEOs to have that focus. We are all engines of karma
  7. Only due to the near-infinite patience of the moderators here. Yes, I am pissed off, badly. Obama has blood on his hands, IMO, and he continues down this path that is absolutely based on false narratives (to use a polite phrase). "Hands up, dont' shoot". Didn't fucking happen. Obama and his cohorts haven't even tried to correct that one instance. And it continues, unabated. What we've been doing for over 50 years now isn't working. It was identified as such in 1965. Something has to change. And it's not going to change with the current conversation that's being had in America right now. We are all engines of karma
  8. You are wrong. When over 50% of crime is perpetuated by a small fraction of what amounts to 13% of the population, you better believe the cops are going to have to deal with that on a daily basis when policing "those" neighborhoods. Simply following an officers direction will correct the vast majority of this "problem". Are mistakes made? Yes. Is it actually anywhere near what the media makes of this? No. The Washington Post (a very liberal paper) just published a study on death at the hands of cops. Of over 500 death-by-cops this year, 125 were blacks. Over half those killed were whites. Are there bad cops? Yes. Is it anywhere close to being an "epidemic"? No, it's not. Here's the link to the 2015 study done by the Washington Post. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/national/police-shootings/ I can't get to the 2016 study, as I'm not a paying subscriber. Are you claiming that's the normal course of behavior? Absolutely. We are all engines of karma
  9. Just to be clear here. I have never used this term before, and I will never use that term here again. We are all engines of karma
  10. Maybe I've missed this. What is that significant piece you are referring to? Difficult conversation, without a doubt. I don't deny that. But I'll be god damned if I'm going to sit back while good people are being hunted. This has to stop, and it has to stop now. We are all engines of karma
  11. Hey, it's not my word. So, you don't know of a better way to phrase this conversation. That's what I hear you saying. It's not blacks that are advocating death to cops. We are all engines of karma
  12. Did you see the link I posted? They call themselves that, and it's fundamental to this conversation. What should I use, instead? Please tell me. I can't call them blacks, because that's not who we're talking about. There are no personal attacks are hate posts in here. I'm not advocating violence in any way shape or form. Aren't we fully in that context? Please tell me which words I should use to hopefully drive this thread to a productive conclusion. I fully plan on having this conversation with a wide range of people around me, hopefully forged for the better by this thread. We are all engines of karma
  13. No, it's not. The British were the first to abolish slavery, and sanction the capture of slave ships in the early 1800s. Abolition of slavery timeline America had their civil war in the late 1800s. And a lot of people died in that war. Wonderful post. I'm reading it now. A cursory overview doesn't show "hard work" or "personal responsibility" in the hierarchy, but it seems reasonable as a basis for discussion. Maslow's hierarchy of needs Who said anything about getting a "good" job? You get a job, period. Then go from there. It ain't rocket science. The kids see their dad/mom getting up to go to work, and putting food on the table, where they are hopefully taught how to function in a civilized society. And a civilized society doesn't mean you're rich. It means you take care of yourself and your family. Yeah, tell that to black families in inner cities that are surrounded by n-grs. And "we" don't owe that. It's incumbent upon themselves to do so. Yet the n-grs are targeting cops because Obama says they have "legitimate grievances". That's going the wrong direction. Even worse, black families are afraid to point out the bad guys because the n-grs will hurt them. And now you have cops that are stopping active policing because the Justice Department will come after them. It's all going in the wrong direction. That's your mom's and your dad's responsibility. If that ain't happening, then there are serious issues to be addressed in that context alone. Again, that is your mom's and your dad's responsibility. Unfortunately, for n-grs that tends to devolve into gang activity. Have these kids ever seen a responsible adult in their life? Doubtful. Unfortunately, that tends to involve violence for n-grs. Again, no experience with responsible adults, IMO. Actually, as Maslow said himself, he didn't bother studying anyone outside of the top 1%. So, some of my conclusions may be extrapolated beyond the initial small set of data, but my point still stands. I'm going to re-read the post, and follow some of the links. I think the more relevant link is the one I posted about Moynihan's report is far more relevant in this conversation. The Negro Family Did you read this? We are all engines of karma
  14. You do realize the entire world was involved in the slave trade for hundreds of years, right? White southern plantation owners were not running around in Africa lassoing people to drag them back to the farm. It was dominant black tribes there were doing the lassoing, and they were selling to all comers. Not just white southern plantation owners living in America. You realize this is still going on today with Muslim countries, right? What other country, besides ours, had a civil war with 500,000 deaths to put blacks on a footing to exercise freedom, and reap the fruits of their work? Blacks were not the only people in slavery at the time. Indentured servitude was the norm for multiple races at the time in the world's history, not just blacks. And it's time for the n-grs to step up and learn to take care of themselves in a civilized society. That means hard work and family commitment. I don't know of another way. Do you? And how do you suggest fixing it? I'm really curious. Have you thought this through? If you have, share it with me, please. No more platitudes about how our country needs to do more for n-grs. We've done enough. Fifty years, and it's not working. Time to change it. We are all engines of karma
  15. I'm hearing crickets with all of the people who seemed to have an opinion on this topic, and that I've asked how they would have this conversation. It is a conversation this country must have. We are all engines of karma
  16. I recall Obama saying about his new special relationship with Cuba - If it's been going on for 50 years, and it's not working, then it's time to change. That applies in spades to this topic. It's not working. Time to change it. We are all engines of karma
  17. This topic is actually being discussed by blacks. https://www.facebook.com/UncleSamsMisguidedChildren.Net/videos/524313884431282/ This shit has to stop. Now. Hey, keep talking to me. Even better if we can put some numbers together on this. Yeah, it's called the nuclear family. That has a mother and a father that work and teach their kids at the dinner table how to live in a civilized society. That is fundamental, IMO, to a civilized society. Charter schools are clearly the answer here. No more funding is needed. You lost me there. Can you better define what you mean by a "socioeconomic structure", please? We are all engines of karma
  18. They have to want it, and be willing to work their ass off. It applies to all of us. We are all engines of karma
  19. Assuming you think the country needs to have a conversation along these lines, how would you phrase it? We are all engines of karma
  20. Assuming you think the country needs to have a conversation along these lines, how would you phrase it? We are all engines of karma
  21. Our federal government is $19 TRILLION dollars in debt. We're printing money out of our ass. Things that cannot continue won't. And that is exactly where we are heading. This is a topic for another thread... We are all engines of karma
  22. How so? And why did you put America in quotes? Yeah, I've personally witnessed the "war on drugs", that I shared in a previous post. Yet, it was black community leaders that pushed for those laws. This "epidemic" is firmly grounded in black communities trying to stop the predation that was happening in their neighborhoods. And it just keeps getting worse. You have black felons in Richmond, CA that are getting paid $1000/month not to rob stores in their neighborhoods. You have black felons in Rikers that are getting paid $800/month not to be delinquent. That model is fucking insane. Absolutely fucking insane, IMO. Agreed. I'm going to put this out there - if they had Dad's that stayed at home and worked, and taught them a different culture at the dinner table, we wouldn't be in this place. It fundamentally is their problem to sort out. Here we have to disagree. It is their responsibility. You look at all of the folks that came through Ellis Island. None of them got a hand out from the government. And, it took a generation or two for them to move forward. That's the case for _everyone_. My dad grew up in a house that didn't even have indoor plumbing, much less central air. You have to work your ass off. That's a minimum requirement to enjoy the fruits of the American experience. We are all engines of karma
  23. Yes, it can be that simple, IMO. And it would be incredibly effective. Exactly, where is the balance? Our country really needs to find it, and soon. You would think that's a socialist's favorite phrase, until you throw in the work concept. Then, it seems to get a bit frayed on their side. ;-) That's what markets are for, dude. We are all engines of karma
  24. Agreed. Eh, you're saying families can't take care of themselves? If I'm hearing that correctly, you're wrong. When I was growing up, I didn't know anyone (including friends fathers) that did not take care of themselves. Where are you coming up with this? So, families can't take care of themselves, and that's just how the universe works? Is that what you're saying? Understood, but almost 50% of the country is getting some type of assistance, and the Obama administration heralds that as a major accomplishment. That's melodramatic, but I can see where liberal philosophy can bankrupt an entire nation, e.g., Venezuela. These folks don't even have toilet paper anymore, much less food.
