and and this posted in order to "end" the confusion and outrage of the "Have you kicked your packer today" sticker. the same entity that has originally orderded (and is continually replenishing the stock of) above sticker has also recently began dispensing the "will pack for ORAL" sticker. has this post cleared a few things? no? well, good! and for those of you still reading: if YOU don't take your work seriously - no one else will either; and if YOU don't make your work fun - no one else will either! and this boys and girls happens to apply to everything you have done and will ever do in your life. ... ... and regardless of what some of you may think, packing can be not just work but also fun - if you have the right attitude. ... ... ... this statement is very different from your original one. asking for one's personal limits and wondering if any dzs out there plan to enforce an across the board limit are not one and the same. if you are interested in one and not the other maybe you should be a little clearer. if you are interested in both, likewise. so how's this for safety? a few months ago i was packing visiting jumper's main. brand new micron with all bells and whistles brand new main and quite obviously an 'almost' brand new jumper. he was hanging around as i was packing and i asked him what he thought of his skyhook. his reply was: "well, i really like the fact that i only have to pull one handle if something goes wrong." i tried my best to get him to realize that handles were installed there for a reason and he shouldn't assume that a piece of nylon connected to a piece of metal will work perfectly right after another piece of nylon connected to another piece of metal did not. i'm not sure that i was successful but i do know that he is far from being the only one with that mentality. i wish people would realize that safety devices in this sport are nothing more than backup intended to do the work if you can't do it yourself. why would dzs have to do that? for people like you there already is a limit. as for others - if they want to keep jumping let them. there are wind limits for students, but licensed jumpers are all adults with waivers on file who have god given right to make mistakes. you make your choice - let them make theirs. it's relatively easy to figure out what people intend to do - even if they speak foreign language. rw or freefly + pull altitude is usually all the info you need. after that all you need to do is make sure they know which group to follow out. local judges had the same opinion as the people here. the winner of the best costume contest (and a happy recipient of a free day of jumping) was the empire state building. i have it from very reliable sources that the prize will not be shared with king kong due to age restrictions. damn that pesky small print.
