  1. Here in France things are (as publicized) not so hot. I know plenty of people who are out of work and/or have lost their jobs. I'm glad I don't have to look for work here. But I know in my field at least, back home in Chicago, if not just in the states in general, things are looking a lot better then they were a few years back. People are actually hiring now whereas they weren't when I was in my second year. Which is good news for me, since I'll be looking for a job soon enough. 3. The sale of chewing gum has been prohibited in Singapore since 1992 'Celebrate we will, cause life is short but sweet for certain'
  4. You probably haven't been eating well balanced meals. Have you been getting enough protein? Anything with soy, fish, dairy products, eggs, ect... I've been a vegetarian for 9 years, and am still alive so it can be done
  5. ...and I was just thinking about how I can't wait to get out of Paris and back home to the midwest... but I tend to bring the good weather with me
  6. Yep, I've been playing. It is pretty dumb, but a good time killer. 'Celebrate we will, cause life is short but sweet for certain'
  7. Worked on me. When I was growing up, and to this day, my parents know if they tell me I can't do something, I go and do just that. But if I'm offered and 'incentive' to do something then I'm all over it. Its kind of human nature. (buy one get one free....open a checking account and get 50$ free...ect.... people like incentives) 'Celebrate we will, cause life is short but sweet for certain'
  8. Try mixing in negative as well as positive reinforcement. If you're always punishing him for things then this will just discourage him and he may think that no matter how hard he tries, in school for instance, he won't be able to live up. Try setting a scale. In the case of school, maybe a C is acceptable. If he gets a B or A (or the equivalent), offer him $5 for every B and $10 for every A. If on the other hand he gets a C or D that earns him chores, or the confiscation of video games ect. I know when I was in school my parents had a kind of reward system for grades and that worked great for me. I loved getting money/ rewards for doing well and that was a big motivation. I was never punished for bad grades (and really don't think kids should be) but I always got a talking to and I hated those, and that was encouragement enough not to do poorly. If you try this making a gradual switch could be a good thing so he doesn't think he's won the battle, or just propose it as the new plan for the semester. Constant punishments are hard on the parents as well as the children and maybe positive reinforcements in this case could help alleviate some of that.
  9. Pod Util has worked great for me, along with having my ipod set up for manual on itunes. 'Celebrate we will, cause life is short but sweet for certain'
  10. Its all about where you drink the beer. Weisenhof in Germany is fantastic. Budwiser dark in the Czech Republic is nothing like in the states (aka pretty darn good). For US beer I prefer Magic Hat (east coast) and Leinenkugel (midwest). The Guinness in Dublin was also yum (though apparently I'm allergic to it? Still good though!)
  11. It wouldn't recover all the energy used to generate the wind, however it would certainly recover some of it and would save the operators money for sure. I don't have any specifics yet, but was thinking of doing a research project on it, and was just wondering if anything like it already existed. 12. Does anyone know if there currently exists in any wind tunnel a means of recycling the energy from the exhausted wind? I.E. wind turbines at top powered by the exhausting air? 'Celebrate we will, cause life is short but sweet for certain'
  13. If you're thinking of giving skydiving a try this is for sure the place to go. All the people there are very chill yet totally professional. I went for a tandem and got hooked and am just finishing up my liscensing. If you get a chance, camp out for a weekend. Friday night bonfires are tons of fun and everyone is super friendly and inclusive. They make it hard to leave. I can't imagine going anywhere else.
