  2. i think the big key is to find someone that enjoys your passion, and i dont mean if your passion is skydiving they enjoy skydiving, what i mean is that they enjoy the fact that you have something you are that passoinate about. i personally had a relationship go haywire cause she didnt enjoy my passion for things, and not just skydiviing although that is the biggest passion i have, she just didnt enjoy the fact that i treated everything at 200%, i must agree that i did not acknowledge her as much as i should but only cause she didnt want anything to do with the stuff i loved, i would love to find someone in the skydiving world who shares my love for it, but if not i want to find someone in the world who understands that i have a passion for somehting the way that i do and will be able to show support for it, that doesnt mean that i want her to start jumping or come to the dz with me everyweekend if she's a whuffo, and it doesnt mean that i want her to try and make every load the way i do if she is a jumper, i just want her to understand that this is something i love and without it i would be incomplete. i did vote for date a skydiver by the way, just cause i think it would be awesome to find a skychick in this world that holds the same passion for jumping that i do. that and ive never seen an ugly skychick The only bad skydive is your last! chris
  3. Quote. Control is an illusion. In life we are really just a long for the ride occasionally choosing doors. that is exactly what i was saying, and you were talking about your solo jump, i did a solo night jump last week, flipped over on my back and looked up, i have never seen a more beautiful sky in my life, it looked like a million diamonds sparkling, awesome, i guess it is ludicrous to ask people what skydiving is to them because it is so hard to explain to someone else, it is uniquely personal to everyone. oh well The only bad skydive is your last! chris The only bad skydive is your last! chris "sonic wookie" harwell Piedra-belluda-roja Rodriguez
  4. my grandmother always asks me why i jump, i always give her the "cause the door was open", she likes to ask if im trying to defy gravity. to me jumping is more of a submission, i am saying that gravity is in control, something else is in control of my life and all i can do is flow with it. we were sitting around at the dz today cause of rain and one of our beautiful skychicks (you know who you are) said the perfect thing, "skydivers are the most zen people in the world" i had never really thought of it that way but that is exactly how i feel, i feel like i have turned my life over to something more grand and all i have to do is flow with it. on to the question, what is skydiving to you, is it just an adrenaline rush or do you do it for something more, also have you noticed any changes in your attitude towards life because of jumping, positive or negative? 5. i was just thinking about this the other day as i was driving home from the dz, bummer, i still get all gigly when im on my way to the dz, i was just wondering if there were some huge number jumpers that still get that way, i get all excited, like to the point of shaking almost, just wondering about you guys The only bad skydive is your last! chris The only bad skydive is your last! chris "sonic wookie" harwell Piedra-belluda-roja Rodriguez
  6. i just got a new vector 3, it comes with their skyhook rsl, ive always been kind of skeptical about using rsl's becuase i dont always want that other chute coming out immediately, my question is do yall think it is work it to keep the rsl in or should i go back to my reservations and take it out The only bad skydive is your last! chris The only bad skydive is your last! chris "sonic wookie" harwell Piedra-belluda-roja Rodriguez

  9. i think its all about what you value in life, i personally live with my parents, im still in school to get a bs in nursing, and i jump with my dad, but recently i sold a bunch of stuff to help my dad pay for my rig, while i understand that people have different priorities for things to do my main priority is 1st school and 2nd jumpin with my father, i feel that i would give up almost anything for those jumps with my dad(however unpretty they might be). i believe that living life is an individual thing, while you do need other people in your life the value of your life is solely up to you, i forget who but one of yall posted about traveling with your daughter, im sureyou would sell every object you owned that was worth money for that experience, i would gladly give up everything i own for those kind of experiences with my father, there shouldnt be people trying to tell others that there is more to life than skydiving, to you there may be, to others there might not, to me there is my family, my family just happens to be in skydiving, and by family i dont just mean those directly related to me, i mean those that i see every weekend at the dz and who, at least at skydive al, would do anything to help each other, thats why i can justify hocking personally useless things to jump. but i understand how it is different for other people The only bad skydive is your last! chris "sonic wookie" harwell Piedra-belluda-roja Rodriguez
  10. just wondering how much yall have hocked for jumps, i cleared out my apartment earlier in the year and had a garage sail to get me a new rig, just thought i would here from some of yall who have been at it longer than me The only bad skydive is your last! chris "sonic wookie" harwell Piedra-belluda-roja Rodriguez
  11. hey guys, sorry about the confusion on here, im new to fundraising to its a shot in the dark that i'll actually get to my goal. but thanks for the interest. and no its not a scam. i get no money from this. here is the breakdown of funds though in case your interested 75% goes directly to the leukemia and lymphoma society 25% goes to paying for the race and entrance fees and other minor things like that. once again. thanks guys for all your interest and like i said before, money isnt the only thing LLS needs. everyones prayers can help just as much. thanks The only bad skydive is your last! chris "sonic wookie" harwell Piedra-belluda-roja Rodriguez
  12. sorry for the lack of clarity, it is link to my website. i am running a marathon to help raise money for the leukemia and lymphoma society. the website is a way to help me get the message out and to maybe get a few donations. as far as the relationship to skydiving, in the past 2 years this community has helped my father and i in many ways. the most obvious is the fun we have and the new family we have met. im not necessarily hoping for money, i would just like to let the skydiving community about my goal and i could really use some prayer or animal sacrifice or voodoo ritual, anything to help rid the world of leukemia and lymphoma. thanks to all who have checked the site and a preemptive thanks to all who will check it in the future. thanks The only bad skydive is your last! chris The only bad skydive is your last! chris "sonic wookie" harwell Piedra-belluda-roja Rodriguez

  15. my dad and i both started jumping about a year ago and we did our first 2way and 3way together last weekend. it was a blast. we go up just about every weekend now and i cant think of anyone better to jump with. it also helps out cause im in nursing school right now and dont really have the money to jump myself. i gotta admit that if it werent for him jumping with me i probably wouldnt have gotten addicted to this sport the way i did. i have a family at the dz now and that doesnt just include my father. 16. cullman, al. skydive alabama. im just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone before. one of our jumpers went to pull, missed and as he was reaching for a 2nd time got into a roll and slightly head down. pulled and the pilot chute went under his arm and across his chest. the report was that "he pulled and bamm he had a fuckin chute". opening was so hard that it knocked his shoes off and also ripped his altimiter off of his hand(most likely due to the lines running down his arm). not only that but the stiching that held his risers in ripped partially. the risers raised enough to catch his rsl which pulled his reserve. it pulled so hard that there is an almost 90 degree kink in his rsl. he landed fine under the two canopies but probably tore some ligaments in his shoulder(waiting on the doc's report). fucked up huh? just wondering if that has been seen before. and hope to get you back soon scottie 2 hottie The only bad skydive is your last! chris "sonic wookie" harwell Piedra-belluda-roja Rodriguez
  17. im looking into getting my first rig pretty soon. i was wondering if it would be a bad idea to go ahead and set it up for a pud system or should i just go with the normal boc until i get more experienced. im wondering what the pros and cons are for that kinda system and whether or not it is suitable for a guy with a hundred jumps The only bad skydive is your last! chris "sonic wookie" harwell Piedra-belluda-roja Rodriguez
