  1. Hello u all ! I'm planning to move and live in Brasil soon. But I don't know where for sure. I just have the following criteria: There should be a beach ! And a DZ !! . And hopefully a nice weather too. I can't wait for paradise to come so I have to find it on earth. I know the big DZs are situated around Sao Paulo, or inland. But I haven't heard a lot about the ones on the cost. If anyone of you could share his experience on places there, I'll be delighted ! Thanks a lot and many blue skies. 2. There is also a small DZ at Hoevenen, near Antwerp, open on WE only. Nice and friendly atmospher. I did my first AFF jump there, beautiful view of the harbour, nice and spacy for landing. - Come to the edge. We can't, we're afraid. Come to the edge. We can't, we'll fall. Come to the edge. And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.
  3. What I like from the poll, it's that the guys that have not tried it yet do not know what they are missing ! - Come to the edge. We can't, we're afraid. Come to the edge. We can't, we'll fall. Come to the edge. And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.
  4. If you go in Brasil, there is a couple of good ones, you can find the list here on DZ.com, most of them have internet sites and contacts. I met some people from Boituva (I think there is 3-4 schools there on the same DZ) and Campinas (they have a skyvan, which is quiet pleasant to jump of!), those 2 dropzones are quiet big, and organize courses even during the week. One bad point, they are roughly 100 kms from Sao Paulo and I don't think there is much to see there. There is a lot of smaller DZs in nicer places. Most of them are listed here. Whatever you do, Brasil is a lot of fun. Just watch yourself... - Come to the edge. We can't, we're afraid. Come to the edge. We can't, we'll fall. Come to the edge. And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.
  5. What is the "Orange Kiwi", gonna need to have a wee there... - Come to the edge. We can't, we're afraid. Come to the edge. We can't, we'll fall. Come to the edge. And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.
  6. My AFF level 1, all went well during freefall, I did all my moves like in the book. Then I pulled, checked, all ok. The navigation was done by radio, I couldn't understand nothing (language was part of the problem..., am french and it was Brasil), could not see the DZ. I finally heard on the radio "Find a free area to land", and that was it. I only did a tandem before so no need to say I got scared the s... out of me. I arrived on the top of a little town, and align my course with a big street (nearly no traffic). I flared to high, did not do a PLF and landed from quiet high on the asphalt. Did not break anything but my legs and back hurted for a while. To top it all, my canopy got caught in a cable, I was trying to get everyone to not touch anything. They told me later it was a phone line. The best part was when a police car pitched up, they asked me where I was from and I told them I was from France, they then looked at the sky and looked very puzzled. I drunk a lot of beer that night ! I did another one out at my 25th jump, bad spotting, I was not the only one to land off. But this time I had it all planned from high and landed peacefully in the middle of a big field. Since then I feel a lot better. I learned my lessons, plan it high !! - Come to the edge. We can't, we're afraid. Come to the edge. We can't, we'll fall. Come to the edge. And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.
  7. I was planning for the Onada Appartment (36 Euros/n) but they are fully booked. The Maurici is between 50&60 a night and slightly out of my bugdet (one more jump a day is one jump more a day!). At the moment my B plan is the Mas Nou Camping, bungalows at 35 euros, or if fully booked, then it will be camping at 17 euros. Still don't have the A plan ! How is food like, price wise ? (am pretty sure it's tasty) - Come to the edge. We can't, we're afraid. Come to the edge. We can't, we'll fall. Come to the edge. And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.
  8. Hey, can anyone let me know if there is cheap small appartment with kitchen and all to rent not too far from the DZ, I plan a trip there in June and still don't know WTF am going to sleep; am travelling in couple so forget the 6 persons bedrooms in the bunk house ! I don't share that much !!! Cheers, J.Blues -------------------------------------------- "Don't eat yellow snow" - Come to the edge. We can't, we're afraid. Come to the edge. We can't, we'll fall. Come to the edge. And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.
  9. I tried to contact them a few month back but did not have any reply. I am always flying through there on the way back home and thought it would be a good spot to stop. Let us know if you have more chance/news. - Come to the edge. We can't, we're afraid. Come to the edge. We can't, we'll fall. Come to the edge. And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.
  10. One of my instructor gave a good trick to spot flare altitude that worked pretty well for me so far. When on final approach, get a glimpse at the trees if there is some not too far, they give a good indications of how far you are from the ground. This doesn't work for desert jumps I guess! - Come to the edge. We can't, we're afraid. Come to the edge. We can't, we'll fall. Come to the edge. And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.
  11. I had the chance to have my first jump out of a skyvan at the boogie in Floripa-Brasil, for new year, it was a great experience ! My favourite was the front loops, once you saw that plane going 3-4 times between your knees, arch the hell out of it ! Great fun and I found it pretty safe. I tried the same just after from a King Air, but the plane was too fast, I got caught side ways and looked like tumble weed more than anything else... Can't wait to jump from that back door again ! J.Blues - Come to the edge. We can't, we're afraid. Come to the edge. We can't, we'll fall. Come to the edge. And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.
  12. Skydive Cape Town. I passed my AFF there and had a very good time. Open all week, up to three planes running on weekend. Excellent view of Table Mountain from the sky. Good organization and nice people ! Cheers, J.Blues - Come to the edge. We can't, we're afraid. Come to the edge. We can't, we'll fall. Come to the edge. And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.
  13. I wanted to say thanks to everyone there ! We just went there to pass our AFF and it was a very good experience, we passes everything as well as the conversion jumps and even managed to add a few solo jumps, all that in 2 weeks ! The view of the table mountain and the bay is beautiful from the sky, all is well organized and the staff was very professional and relax at the same time. Thanks to Hugo and Jaco for their instuctions, to Pete and Mark from flying us to the top, to Dan and Ale for their smooth opening packing ! And to all the rest of the people there to have make us feel at home, could not get enough of it ! Keep it on ! Blue skies ! We'll be back ! Mathieu
  14. Hello ! I was looking for some news on that place as well, I'll be there soon and wanted to do some of my AFF jumps there. I wrote to the guy, he has a site fir his restaurant that also advertise his skydinving club, the latest news were the following : Here some update news for our future skydive club in Pattaya. Now we're working on a new project called Pattaya Air Park, with a lot of air activities. Also there will be a resort, restaurant, 4 new hangars and a club house build within a year. But for commercial flying we need approval from DOA (Division Of Aircontrole) to get an AOC license(Commercial license), takes 3 months, the requist is in for 2 months already, so I think the end of the month we should be operational and start the new club. We have a Seccna 206 waiting for us (see pics) We're planning to do tandemjumps and AFF, operating in the weekends first and see later maybe put in a Wednesday as well. The DZ would like to operate under USPA rules. So that's the good news friends, the bad news, we're still waiting for that little paper, haha, Keep u updated It means I can't do my AFF jump there :( But at least the DZ is still alive ! Rgds, Mathieu - Come to the edge. We can't, we're afraid. Come to the edge. We can't, we'll fall. Come to the edge. And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew.
