  1. Dave and Costyn, I see your point. Maybe I'll change it later. WINGSUIT ACROBATICS team O zone ZF#5 , HISPA#70 Blue Skies... ...Big Fat Clouds
  2. Hey guys First of all thanks to everyone for all your feedback. It was really helpful. Costyn, Jarno and Dave G: You dudes are pretty damn cool cats (or birds, whatever). You have been very helpful. I really appreciate it. Jarno, thanks for the invite. If you guys ever swoop the pond this way, same goes here. Costyn, if you still don't have the URL Jarno has it, or let me know. Dave (bob) and Ian: Nice to 'meet' you. Ian I may need to contact you later (thanks for the tip). Chuck and Jarno: Thanks for inflating my head ...(place joke here). Chuck, check your PM. I sent you the URL. Matt, Mark and Jarno: You 3 stooges cracked me up. Thanks for your "contribution". All the people that PM'd / e-mailed me (a lot more than people who actually posted here): Thanks for your responses and your willingness to help. Unfortunately, I only needed a handful of people to check the site. But it will be up as soon as it's all finished (or very, very closed to it). Sorry for not replying to most of you guys, but there were too many and I'm too lazy/busy. Now time for my 'puke front' (that's Mexican / or PuertoRican for 'opposite of feedback'. Matt knows what I'm talking about): 1- Jarno, I re-worked the sub-menus. Now they stay. 2- I'm sorry for the "flash haters", but I am not about to please a few Microsoft IE users that are too lazy to tackle the daunting task of one simple mouse click. There are other browsers out there (no need for conformity). I have been using firefox for awhile with no problems, although I must admit I do use IE for testing, to make sure users of the sacred MS IE can see the sites fine. Besides, like Dave said, this is not a business site. We are not asking people to "please visit our site so we can sell you stuff". This website offers education, entertainment and information, which are free . If someone doesn't want to enjoy that, simply because there is flash in it, so be it. Remember we are offering something, not selling. 3- Costyn, we should definitely exchange notes on the acrobatic moves. That's what is all about, to spread the knowledge. I need to brush up on the CSS stuff. BTW 4- The line 'the first aerobatic wingsuit team': I agree. SoulFlyers is a team and the do some cool wingsuit acrobatic moves. They have been a source of inspiration for me since before I even thought of doing my first wingsuit flight. (As a matter of fact we tried to contact Loic via e-mail some time ago, to discuss some of the acrobatic stuff, but he never replied.) However, I don't consider them a purely 'acrobatic wingsuit team'. IMO I think they are more a group of friends that each specialize in a different discipline or even a different sport, which they combine to have fun and make cool videos. Sorry, but I never heard of Hans Bergren and the Norgies were they an acrobatic team? If so, what kind of stuff were they doing? Are they still around? Where is the video? I searched but I couldn't find it. I think we might keep our self-proclaimed title in spite of any "controversy" it may cause. I like the idea of being the "first" at anything anyways. Maybe it is because we are used to having several "firsts' under our belts at Z-Hills with Z-Flock. 5- The 'Tips & Tricks' section is not just a data base. Every trick listed there will be linked to specific instructions to that trick, illustrated with video and/or 3d graphics . Again, thank you all for your help. 3. OK I reworked the height. How is this one? I use flash menus because I can bundle graphics (header) with the navigation buttons together and recycle and reuse these with very little re-work. Usually, I use very little or no animation in my menus and you could barely tell it's flash unless you right click on them. I know that a lot of people on the web commit "flash abuse", so I can understand how flash could be "evil". But how is it evil and pointless when they are done in a way that you could barely tell the difference between a flash and an html version? Just curious. Thanks for your opinion Bob.
  4. Hey Dave You are right. I'm so used to working on hi-res monitors (1024x768 and up, currently 1800 x 1440) that some times I forget to consider low-res monitors. I will fix it when I get some time. I did keep the width in mind but not the height. What is your screen resolution? With pages that are graphic intensive, they often need to be fixed width (see all the other links in the 'links' section). I normally use flash elements in a page only as enhancements and try not to overuse it to keep somewhat of a balance. Why do you think the flash menus will turn some people away? Is it because they will need the plugin? Too 'flashy'? I'm glad the videos worked well. That was my main concern. Thank you for your input. I really appreciate it. OK. I guess I should point out some specs: 1- fast connection needed (especially for videos) 2- 1024x768 and higher resolution recommended 3- 800x600 and lower resolution NOT recommended PS Here is a screenshot. 5. Hey flockers Like Team Fly Like Brick, team O zone has a website also. But it's not public yet. We need a few (3 or 4) people to check it out and test it. Since it's on a personal test server I cannot make the address public due to bandwidth restrictions. If you are interested (and serious and not just curious) let me know here and I will PM you the address. Testers, PLEASE DO NOT pass on the address information. About the site so far: I'm aware of a couple of spelling errors I have to fix. Pretty much I mainly need some feedback on any potential issues in the video sections. You need a fast connection, but I think I may have to tweak the streaming a little. The e-mail addresses in the 'about' section are not up yet. The text field boxes in the 'contact' section is not working since the site is on a personal test server pc with no cgi support. Same goes with the 'forums' section since there is no php support. Once the site is up on a real web server all these little issues should be "automatically" fixed. Please let me know of any broken or misdirected links (if any) and the overall feel (navigation) and look as well. The website is about 65% to 70% finished. Thanks. OH.Yeah, I almost forgot. Any sponsorship is welcome. WINGSUIT ACROBATICS team O zone ZF#5 , HISPA#70 Blue Skies... ...Big Fat Clouds
  6. Damn! You all suck! You beat us to it. We also have a WS team (team O zone) website ready but it's not published yet. There was a teaser video out some time ago. Your site looks pretty cool. I'm glad to see other small teams popping up. Hopefully soon we can have team competitions. Actually I was about to make a post asking for a few people to test the site and I already had you guys in mind. I can't make it public yet because it is on my brothers server. If you are interested in checking the website out let me know and I'll PM you the test URL. Edit to ad: P.S. Hey Jarno can you still send me that thing I aked you a long time ago? Remember? 9. MY EYES, MY EYES!!! MikeLaugh HA! HA! Ok, I thought he was who you were refering to but wasn't sure. Anyway, he didn't fly camera, but I'm sure he firewired from me. BTW Are you coming to F&D? WINGSUIT ACROBATICS team O zone ZF#5 , HISPA#70 Blue Skies... ...Big Fat Clouds
  10. I do. If I remember, I'll bring it for reference (if needed, but I doubt we they will need it). Which Mike are you refering to? WINGSUIT ACROBATICS team O zone ZF#5 , HISPA#70 Blue Skies... ...Big Fat Clouds
  11. I am sure Matt will beat me to it. He told me he will have a short (normal length) version. Mine on the the other hand will be quite lengthy, therefore it is going to be a while. I am aiming more towards makin a DVD ("Wings over Paradise - Puerto Rico Freefall Fest, wingsuit edition"). I had to wait to collect ALL of the footage and fotos I needed from everyone before even thinking of begining to edit. Patience my friends. Good things come to those who wait. 12. Thank you every one that showed up to flock in Puerto Rico. I hope everyone had fun. Special thanks go to Perry, Mike, and Matt for all the help and patience from day one. Mike, I agree with Perry. You are the man! I can't thank you enough. JP nice to have met you. Walt, thanks for the early rides. Bryan keep up the good work; I hope you learned a lot and don't be so shy
  13. Great idea Scott. I couldn't agree more. edited to add: B.T.W. and F.Y.I. I am not really interested myself in flying camera on any big flocks unless asked or invited. I will fly some slots and do some two or three way acro stuff though. WINGSUIT ACROBATICS team O zone ZF#5 , HISPA#70 Blue Skies... ...Big Fat Clouds
  14. Thank you guys. See ya (most of you) in Puerto Rico Tomorrow! Woo Hoo! WINGSUIT ACROBATICS team O zone ZF#5 , HISPA#70 Blue Skies... ...Big Fat Clouds

  16. I have been working on a website (still in progress) dedicated to aerobatics and other "artistic" and "non-standard" wingsuit flying and put together a quick teaser\trailer video. The website will be two in one (theozone.com and theozone.tv). The O zone.com will offer general information on aerobatics, news and events, Z-Flock stuff, etc. The O zone.tv will be for entertainment purposes and will feature videos, photo and art galleries, etc. Some of the features will be: Forums section Safety tips Art, video and photo galleries Art, video and photo contests Mini film fests Tips and tricks (instructional videos, photo sequences, and animations). Tips and tricks (gear and modifications) News and events and more. And of course our aerobatic wingsuit team, Team O zone: Omar Nery's (Acro-bat) Scotty 'Go Fast' Burns Matt 'The 111' Hoover Jeff Nebelkopf 'Scary' Perry Trowbridge Enjoy. 19. How many threads are going to be posted with the same issue? The issue was discussed, arguments broke out and conclusions were made. The End. Lets move on. Lets just respect each other (on the ground and in the air) and we will all get along just fine. Lets stop this mass paranoia that we are suffering from. Bottom line is Z-Hills is THE place. So what if there were some diffences of opinions and personality clashes. That happens anywhere there is a large gathering of people. The Z-Hills locals are a good and decent friendly bunch. There you have it. That is the opinion from a Z-Hills wingsuit local a.ka. a Z-Flocker and no less from the guy that was used as an example in this whole mess. --edited to add:-- If the case was that there is an anti WS attitude, why run away from the problem and not confront it? What I mean by this is we should have a 50+WS event, have a blast and show EVERYONE that we can all play together in the same playground and be respecful and SAFE. Peace. 20. This is mostly directed to Laura and Oren: Guys, I didn't take your or anyones comments as personal attacks. But I did expect that after giving my satement on my last post, people would directly attack me, which to my relief did not happen. I did get offended though, when alot of people somewhat attacked "the unknown buzzer" without any facts. It also bothered me that I had to take the time to explain myself on a discussion so negative. I only like to post here for entertainment (i.e. posting my videos), education (i.e. my wingsuit review & aerobatics), or information (i.e. on events such as Flock n' Dock and PR FreeFall Fest). If you notice I have more jumps than posts. That should tell you something. I wish I had the time to post my 'side of the story' sooner, and maybe this thread wouldn't have gone so out of hand. I think everyone that knows me at the DZ know that I don't have a bad attitude. I am not arrogant and I consider myself to be laid back and humble. Like I said before I know my limitations. And I am always willing to learn from my own experiences and others'. I am not a skygod or a wingsuit god. I have made some mistakes, and even gotten hurt, and I took them as learning experiences. And as a result that has made me a safer skydiver and wingsuit pilot. I have even refused to get involved in some "new experimental" wingsuits fligths with my buddies because I have consired myself "not ready for that yet". It's like someone here said before, I will have to prove myself (as a safe skydiver). You guys are more than welcome to approach me and talk to me or any wingsuit pilot at the DZ with any concerns or questions that you may have. I promise I won't give you any attitude. I can't. I don't have any. As for every one here, I just want to make something clear: My situation happened a while ago. We were, in my opinion, at the wrong place at the wrong time. Things have changed since then. And I have NEVER approved or will ever approve of unplanned INTENTIONAL buzz jobs. Peace. WINGSUIT ACROBATICS team O zone ZF#5 , HISPA#70 Blue Skies... ...Big Fat Clouds
  21. As I was reading this thread, I was thinking "wow, this all sounds very familiar". Then, as I read on I realized (to my surprise) that this happened at my home DZ and the guy doing the so-called "buzz" was me! I say "so-called buzz" because I did not plan or intend to buzz the instructor or any other canopy for that matter.I was not bored and I am no jackass looking to perform any antics. This happened way more than just a couple of months ago, so I will try my best to re-create that day's situation as accurately as I can remember: 1-I flew the typical (wingsuit) flight pattern (as described by Matt-The111). 2-On break-off I flew parallel to jump run towards the dz\landing area, mainly looking straight ahead and down. Basicly I was looking down my flight\glide path. I was simply watching where I was going, somewhat like what one would do when driving a car. 3-Approaching my normal opening altitude (2000'), I take a quick look to my right (opposite of dz\landing area), then look left (towards dz.) then down and ahead again and pitch. I was under canopy at 2000' according to my neptune and my video, and far from all other canopies (or so I thought). After landing I was told that she was pissed at me and why. I felt very bad so I went up to her and told her I was sorry about what happened. I watched my video of that jump but I couldn't find her in it. And that is all that happened. One always learns something with every skydive (or at least one should), especially the ones that don't go so perfect. Looking back is always 20\20: Things I should have done: Ask her more specific questions about her point of view: 1- "How high did you pull?" -To determine if at a specific time and space I should have seen a tiny dot still in freefall, about to deploy, deploying or under a fully inflated canopy. 2- "How far was I?" (in feet, inches, ,meters, miles, kilometers or whatever) -To determine if it was a safe or unsafe distance. 3- "How far were you from dz\landing area?" -To detemine her position and mine in relation with my flight pattern. 4- "What can I (or we) do to avoid this from ever happening again and how to go about it?" etc. etc. etc. note: The above questions would have been asked to better the situation not to question anyones ... As I analize this some points come to mind. Please note that this is no attempt to deny or aknowledge any fault: 1 Normally an experienced skydiver would deploy between 2000' to 3000'. Assuming she opened at 3000', she would likely have deployed close to the time I "buzzed" her, meaning before that she would have been a small dot in freefall about to deploy and quite difficult to see due to the horizontal separation. If she opened higher I would assume she was a little far from the spot and closer to my flight pattern. I believe this is what happened because I deployed far from the rest of the canopies. Also if she was near last in exit order that could have put her a little further in the spot making her having to deploy a little higher. I will speak to her the DZO and S&TA about this to see what we need to do to avoid this any further (like creating awareness to non-wingsuit jumpers about our flight patterns and not doing uninvited buzz jobs). I believe that every skydiver should be aware of these patterns and care about it. These patterns are designed to AVOID general traffic. Generally it does NOT put you around people who are under canopy. Most here have brought out some good points. I would never do an intetional buzz without the other jumpers consent. Every single person that I have really and intentionally buzzed has known and planned it with me and they were experienced wingsuit pilots or at some point have flown wingsuits. I have seen it first hand, on non-wingsuit skydives and seen other peoples footage with people freefalling within 20' past canopies, and I have personal video of jumpers doing that to me. I know how it feels. But it seems like it's only wreckless behavior when it's a wingsuit. A wingsuit lands off, he's a bad pilot, a regular jumper lands off, bad spot or wind is too strong. I have only landed off twice,(and learned from them) both because of something new that we came up with at the time which puts us head down thus making our freefall time and spot shorter than a regular wingsuit jump. We have modified our spot, course correction time, and break off accodingly to land in the dz and safely away from other groups. This is something that I talked about to the DZO and the S&TA. As for other pilots, I can't say. I KNOW my skill level. I KNOW my limits and I KNOW how much control I have or don't have. I may or may not have done something stupid, but who hasn't? Everyone at some point has landed off or will, and everyone has done something stupid in their skydiving career or will. I don't care how many jumps you may have, if it is 10 or 10,000, if you are a student or a skygod, nobody is exepmt from an off landing or doing something stupid at some degree. I have seen tandem masters, videographers and other highly experience jumpers land off or do something stupid. Or a jumper swooping "dangerously close" to spectators. Example: I got yelled at AND threatened by a tandem instructor because allegedly I cut him off on landing. Later that afternoon he apologized and admitted it was his fault. On another note: It saddens me to hear that we are disliked at our own home DZ. Skydive City and its local wingsuit flyers have become very popular with our wingsuit events but I can't help but to feel that we are no loger welcome there (or maybe I'm just paranoid). I hope that I haven't offended anyone. This is only MY point of view and any differences of opinion, personal attacks (8-P) or corrections are more than welcome. Well I would love to stay and chat some more but I have just wasted my entire night reading, analyzing and responding to this rather unpleasant thread.
