  1. Wow, you surprised me here. I thought 3 weeks might have been asking a little too much anyway, but I am on somewhat of a time crunch. Unfortunately, I am moving out of California August 4th permanently, that is why I wanted the rush. As long as I can get it before then, should be ok. But of course, I would love to have it sooner than later, just like any one else so I can use it a jump or 2 or 3. Thanks for the info. Square 1 told me they would most likely call about it next week any way. David
  2. I am moving to Columbus, OH in August and will really miss the iwnd tunnel at Perris. Is there one reasonably close to this city? There is not a Skyventure tunnel for sure according to their website. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  3. Nice rig! How long was your wait? I have been waiting three weeks now for a three week rush order. Should be getting my $200 back on the rush. David
  4. As an eye doctor you can probably figure out my problem with landings. I have 41 jumnps now and still have a lot of trouble with the flare, most of which has a lot to do with about 4 inches of toggle left to pull on. My coach is working with me on that. Anyway, as a 2 year old, I had eye surgery for strabismus, or eyes being crossed for the non-knowing. So, I don't see in stereo like most peoiple do which screws up my depth perception. It is so hard to explain to people what it is like. Most of the time it isn't an issue as my brain has learned how to compensate. I got my Private Pilot's license with this condition, so I should be able to land a parachute safely if I can a plane. Its frustrating, but I know with time it will come. Thankfully, it seems I do just barely good enough right now not to hurt myself. David
  5. I used the url button but it didn't become clicky. Not sure why. Do you have to click it twice? Once before and once after the url? David
  6. Thank you for your advice.I really appreciate it. I decided rather than try to hunt down a good used rig, I might be better off buying a new rig. So I did. This is my life I am putting on the line with unknown gear. Even with a rigger check out, you don't know how long the gear will last. Since I have the cash, and my weight warrants only one more downsize right now, buying new should be the way to go and a couple of my instructors agreed with me. So, no used gear, for the msot part any way. I have been watching the internet for a long time and not much has shown up any way. Eventually I would probbaly have to buy new any way wit hthe lack of used selection out there. David
  7. THanks for your opinion. I will skip this rig. It did seem somewhat old, but I wasn't sure. How does one properly link to an auction or webpage? Thanks, David
  8. I a mclose to my a license and looking for a rig. This auction on Ebay looks like a good fit as I am 5'5" and 180 lbs. But is it worth the $2000? And what do you do to replace the hackey when it is not included? New pilot chute? Thanks in advance. David[url]
  9. Yea, DZ is doing 45 tandems per day on the weekends.
  10. I am serious. That rate actually started two weekends ago. They have told me it several times becasue they wanted me to know that I may have to wait on a coach/instructor to become avaialble those days. One instructor told me they had been waiting for this business to come their way. The season had finally begun for them. David
  11. Congratulations! Now go get yoru AFF training! Don't sweat the instructors being a little rude. At Perris, they are doing an average of 45 tandems each Saturday and similar amount each Sunday so they are going to be a little cold. David
  12. I got prescription goggles/sunglasses for my motorcycle and the yare good for skydiving also. Got them at: [url]www.sportrx.com David
  13. So, what's an SCR for those of us that don't know? David
  14. Don't I wish! I bought the big package deal on my credit card. I will be buying my own rig with cash reserves. I don't have too many bills right now, but I didn't wanan dip into the cash for the lessons. If you find that money stream, let me in on it to!. David
  15. I agree with what you are saying to a point. I was tried to start my AFF at a different dropzone other than Perris. They had to call in an instructor that wasn't on the payroll, jsut volunteeered, which is ok, and the video guy. They also used the Cessna 206 which is a little harder to jump out of cause of the time to altitude and it jstu sucks to me. So, the bigger dropzone worked better for me, especially becuase Perris has a structured program and plenty of instructors around each day. It was up to me how much I wanted to get done each day. Also, they are helping me with my A license progressino with a structured program. I bought a package deal which saved me 10% and gets me where I need to be with a lot of good training and support. Both small and large dropzones have their good and bad points. David
  16. Thanks! I am realyl proud of myself from goign to scared out of my wits to being relatively comfortable with just enough trepidation to be careful still. I hope to finish up the "A" this weekend. Packing class, 3 coach jumps for RW, 1 hop-n-pop and the checkout jump left to go. David
  17. I wanted just to suggest it. I am in the Navy in China Lake. I bypassed the dropzone close by in California City after I went to Perris to get some wind tunnel training prior to AFF-1. It was worth it and so was the training at Perris. I stayed there most of the week, actualyl at March AFB. $21 a night for a hotel room, can't beat it. Perris also has training packages that save you money to. Worked great for me with a week of leave. I expect to be back thsi weekend to finish up my A-license. All set u through the package I bought. Good luck with your choice. I odn't know anything about the others you asked about. David
  18. If you are considering both of them, you may want to consider Skydive Perris also. It is close to elsinore. I just did my entire AFF coures last week with Perris and they are going to get me to my A license by the end of this weekend. David
  19. I realize there is a lot to offer. I just am not sure which way to go. I am thinking that more RW would be the best way to go and expand my belly flying skills. Maybe then i could pick another one. David
  20. Hi all. Having jsut past my AFF course and soon to have my A license, a question has come into mind. My instructors told me I will probably pretty quickly choose a discipline to go into. I rtealize that I will msot likely be bellyflying for quite a while until I feel pretty comfortable with it. Question is this: What do people normally transition into for a discipline next? Freeflying seems a little complex. David
  21. It is very difficult. AFF creates a lot of pressure on you as student. After my first jump I was definitely not in mood to jump again this day - I felt so tired. Not to mention first jump course, which will take 4-6 hours. I agree. It would be very difficult to do the AFF course in a weekend. I jsut did my from Monday to this past Friday and it was difficult. Two repeats. Got it done though. I did get three levels in on Thursday with 15 minutes of tunnel time to, but I was burnt out by the end of the day. Only motivation and doing better got me through it all. David
  22. Thanks! I was really trying to grad AFF in a week and I made my goal, safely. It is an awesome feeling. I finally was able to get some sleep last night without thinking about skydiving too much. I have lsot a lot of sleep over the past two weeks cause of this. David
  23. Thanks. I did level 2 twice yesterday voluntarily and had to do level 3 twice today but got it the second try. The instructoprs said I did really well on it. Off to level 4 tomorrow. David
