  1. Hmmm! Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  2. At one time I had some fairly close connections to Mr. Robertson. I was even a featured testimony on the 700 Club and represented Vietnam veterans on Straight Talk. IMO, he lost out due to unethical funding practices. In defense of his statements regarding Haiti and not obtaining the GOP nomination I offer the following Scripture: Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. 3. I think it will move back. I dunno why, just a gut feeling and nothing to do with my faith. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  4. Pssst... hate to break it to you, but you've just defined fascism. Exactly! Thank you for your supportive agreement. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  5. You are sliding into a theological discussion. My post concerned political correctness and its detrimental effect in the military command structure at Ft Hood. In the treatment of substance use disorder, as with other mental health issues, gut level, rigorous honesty is encouraged to the near mandatory level. People adjust more efficiently when confronted honestly. The wussification of America is the subversive movement based on the notion that no one's feelings should be hurt. Thus, we have political correctness. Actually, I would prefer a Christian theocratic government but, that will not happen until Jesus Christ of Nazareth returns and establishes His government. Probably won't happen in our lifetime. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  6. I guess that is the final answer. I thought that someone back in past had explained a specific reason why Greek was the chosen language for the NT manuscripts. The correct answer is, Greek was the common language of time. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. 7. I would say the same way we will win the war on drugs. That is, one life at a time through 1:1 counseling. (edited for typo) Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  8. It's from the Westminster Shorter Chatechism (Question 1), but I believe it is misquoted. I believe the correct language is the chief end of man is to florify God and enjoy him forever." Parts of the Old Testament are written in Aramaic. Matthew appears to be written by a Hellenic Jew in Greek by somebody w/ a sophisticated understanding of that language. We don't know if any of the NT texts were originally written in Aramaic and then translated to Greek but Mark's gospel has the most basic Greek of the gospels and may well have been written by someone for whom Greek was not that native tongue. Revelation was almost assuredly written by somebody who was a native speaker of Aramaic, as the Greek in it is almost unreadable and seems to contain many semitisms. Hard to say if he wrote in in Greek or in Aramaic and then translated it. Thank you. You stated the quotation correctly. I am trying to find the reference for the NT written in Greek. Does it have to do with the Nicene Conference ordered by Constantine? Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. 9. Bullshit, I listened intently and all we ever get was moral stories about how we should be nice to each other. Were you ever given the plan of salvation? 10. And you, of course, will be the one defining what is "right". Don You got that right... God has a plan.. and has shared it with certain people. Actually, He has made it known to all. Some choose not to accept the plan. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  11. And you, of course, will be the one defining what is "right". Don Nope, not me. See Post #10. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  12. It seems curious to me that (for example) the Mark the evangelist, a Jew born in Judea would write in Greek. Matthew certainly was later translated from Hebrew to Greek as the apostle would have written the gospel for the Hebrews. I am researching this one. Standby. 13. And how do you propose to abolish them? Would that be by making them illegal? Wendy P. Too many laws already. I prefer to abolish incorrect thinking and behavior by promoting the benefits of successful living through the liberty of expressing the freedom of individual spirit. In other words, liberty is the freedom to do what is right. It is not the right to do wrong. Not an original thought but a meaningful one none the less. Progressive liberals and their socialistic agenda is movement for power and control by elitists. I'm just an ol' country boy at heart. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 14. Well, any orange can be re-defined "apple", but that doesn't make it one. Uhh! OK. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  15. Not all personal philosophies are based on faith. Religion is predicated on faith. Secular humanism, on the other hand, is not predicated on faith; it is also known as "scientific humanism", and its core reasoning is based principally on evidence and the scientific method. Within the evangelical community, secular humanism is referred to as faith. That is to say, man's faith in man's ability. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 16. The statement above is key in the Reformed Church and is actively expressed in the Presbyterian Church. The rest of your opinion I respectfully categorize as staunch secular humanism. If that is where you place your faith that's OK with me. My faith lies in my relationship with Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 17. It's good to keep the message alive until the wussification of America has been reversed through the abolition of progressive liberalism and the socialist agenda. 18. Reports are indicating that political correctness was a prime factor in the Ft Hood murders. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,582732,00.html Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  19. The holy spirit is an asshole, he didn't guide me through shit in high school(presbetarian), i was open to suggestion back then. I have since become agnostic. How exactly did the holy spirit guide you? enlighten us. Your statement indicates that you lack sincerity and therefore not a truth seeker. That's OK, you chose your life path. Had you paid more attention in HS you would have at least learned how to spell Presbyterian. You would also have learned that the chief end of man is to glorify God and worship Him forever. The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to guide you to a closer relationship with Jesus Christ of Nazareth. That is what He has done for me. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 20. In some cases, it's a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy - as the basis of the New Living Translation is the Living Bible, which was done back in 1971, and based on the American Standard Version (1901), which was based on the Revised Version (1800s), and that is based on the King James Version (1600s). But for a lot of the NLV, I guess they went all the way back to Hebrew and Greek. Of course, I don't think the books in the New Testament were ever done in Hebrew But since language changes so much, even in a 100 years, it's kinda important to make old books accessible with modern language. I don't think I would have made it through Shakespeare without Cliff's Notes. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and the New Testament written in Greek. The King James Version is considered by some to be the most scholarly translation. The Strong's Exhaustive Concordance is a complete dictionary of every word, in context, in Hebrew and in Greek, based on the KJV. The American Standard Version (1901) is considered the most accurate translation but it is awkward to read. The New American Standard Version corrected the grammatical syntax for easier reading. The Living Bible Paraphrased is a translation for children and others that have difficulty reading Old English. The New International Version is a scholarly work written in modern English but does eliminate a few verses in the NT for translation brevity. One of my favorites is the Dake's Annotated Reference Bible based on the KJV. If you are a sincere seeker of truth pick any translation and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. If you are not a seeker none of the versions will mean very much to you. In that case John 3:16 is your starting place. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 23. I just don't understand how we became a nation where mediocrity and under achievement are desirable goals. The only thing positive I see in becoming socialist is that immigration will dwindle. When America no longer has anything to offer, there won't be any motivation to come here. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 24. It has always been thus. Sometimes the winters are cold and there is a lot of snow; other years not so much. Some summers are very hot and there is little rain. Other years there are consistent downpours. If it wasn't for Al Gore and the lame stream media I couldn't tell the difference. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 25. There's a hole in that logic big enough to drive a great, big cliche' through. Not everything is logical nor it is required. For some it is a useful tool, nothing more. It is a mental construct only. In general, the mind is a useful tool but it is a lousy master. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit.
