the cables used to transport people, animals and supplies to the farms on the other side of the river that runs there. We have to jump it in winter as we need to land on the frozen river. It was a great weekend with some great jumps. Very different from other jumps i have made. Can't wait to go back there! Ok, so i have been jumping a few years now, but i still missed the S (yes, another norwegian). This weekend we went and visited VKB county for some winter fun. They have a cable span up there wich i had two great jumps from. It works like this: Get some rope and some carbiners(?), hook yourself in and slide out to the middle (fast, sparks flying, great fun). when you get to the middle, you unhook yourself and hang off your arms or legs and simply let go. Its approx 300m (1000 feet), so a 5 sec delay is all good. My question to you all, would this qualify as an S? most people we talked to over the weekend says it s probably the definition of an S as it is a span in its true word. Those guys just have organized a Heliboogie there. There has not been a helicopter in the areas discussed here. You must be thinking about Kjerag where they have an anual heli boogie I have been in the valleys and i can confirm the long hikes. I earned the nick name "the five-meter" as i had to take a break every 5th meter or so at the end of a 3.5 hrs long hike. I could never make more than one jump a day there as i was exchausted after those hikes. last year some french and german jumpers spent close to 5 hours on the trip, and they were really exchausted after the hike. one of the french was even unhappy with the jump as he said to me "when im this tired i cannot make a good jump". -------------------------------------------------- http://www.oslobase.no

Yes i know him well. I was getting ready at the top as it happened so i didnt see it before i got that camera in my hands. He suffered some pretty heavy injuries, most ribs in several places, 2 or three vertabreas, a collapsed lung, fractured skull.... Think that covers most of it but it could've been more. he also stayed in a coma for a while. He was wearing a helmet and would have been on the list if it wasn't for the hard shell (which split btw), actually he died twice in the ambulance but thankfully the medics brought him back. He is not back jumping yet, but he has been with us on several sites PCAing us and looking forward to jump in the future. Whoa, that was fast! Yes, the release was on friday, but i couldnt post before now cause of a nice little trip to Iceland... The party was great with a lot of people from all over the country, live concerts from Shaun Bartlett, Addicted to Habbits (people from yelp) And a one night only resurrection of YELP after the movie. 2nd BASE is now getting close to be finished. The makers are now waiting for some footage from a third party to finish the last 2 minutes that remains, and it will be released hopefully the first weekend of feb. I had the pleasure to watch it this weekend, and i must say it is a great film that will have you running around in your living room, trailer or parents house before you run outside with your best friend on your back to make some jumps. Details on the release will be posted here and other places on the web when everything is ready. I've got a little video clip for you guys. It was made for a sponsor (sony ericsson) and is *NOT* a finished part from the film, even though this footage is included in it. hope you enjoy it. Comments are more than welcome! Sorry about the delay with 2nd BASE, but there has been some communication hassle with obtaining some footage that the makers wanted to include. Most of the film is now ready, and as 434 here said, it was an unofficial screening of it this weekend. It looks like it will be released first weekend of february. Tomorrow or the next day i will post a little clip that was made using some of the footage that are featured in the upcoming dvd release of 2nd BASE. I will post it in a new thread together with some release notes. Liv... i couldn't believe it when i heard it... My heart goes out to you, all of Jasons family and friends and the Aussie BASE scene. Jason was the best guy around! He was such an open person, willing to teach all that he knew. When i called him and asked him to be my aussie mentor, he just said "great", and he called me up as soon he had some jumping planned, so that i could check out the Aussie BASE sites. Thanks for bringing me along Jason, thanks for being you, thanks for bringing me down to that waterfall at the GC and make me feel at home even though i was as far away from home as i could. You were out on the outback tour when i did my jump down under, but as we (Coombsey ,Marc and myself) drove to the A, we were talking about how strange it was not having you there as you were "the grandfather of QLD BASE". If you don't know much about packing, please DO NOT try this yourself. (i don't know too much, but i was trained by the "inventor" of this pack. He is a long-time reserve packer and been BASE jumping for quite some time.) Ok, I'm posting this to hear pro's and con's about this. This is the deal: You pack normally till the tail is wrapped. From here on in, it is a little different... You take the side panels and roll them in a 45 degree angle. Do not roll them as hard so it will affect with the slider grommits. Then, Instead of a) folding in one flake at the time and then clamping it b) folding all three at the same time and then clamping it, Take all three flakes and fold them over the tail and clamp them down. After this, the rest of the pack is normal, except that you now have covered the tail with the flakes of the canopy. This is done so that the tail will not be exposed before the canopys front has been fully inflated and the tail then becomes the last part to "come out" of the pack job. I have attached photos of these stages, so please have a look. The "inventor" of this pack is nicknamed Hong, so we now refer to it as the Hong-pack. He has done close to 70 jumps with this pack, everything from PCA to terminal, and has been filming backwards to examin it closer. As far as i know, he has not had an offheading (well, more than a few degrees) since he started packing like this. I myself has had 3 jumps with it, and i love it. This is what (hopefully) happens to the soundtracks. They want to release both soundtracks on one cd when 2nd BASE is released. The musicians still makes really good music, but its not the same band as it was back then. This is a natural process to any creative person. I can tell you that there is a song or two that is close to what you all heard in 1st BASE, and a few that will sound different. I would say it sounds better, but the soundtrack from the first movie has worked on me for almost 5 years so it brings out a few things in me...
