  7. Over this past weekend some things happened that made me think, if you hired a packer and had a malfunction as a result of the pack job and lost my main what would I do? Curious on your thoughts..... -- When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return. 9. On Saturday August 12th, 2006 there was a premature Vigil fire at Connecticut Parachutists, Inc in Ellington, CT. Here are the facts: Routine Tandem, exiting a Caravan from 13,500ft. Weather was 80-85deg, sunny, low humidity, winds 5-10. Tandem Master deployed at 6,000ft AGL. Freefall and deployment were normal and uneventful. Canoy descent was normal until approx 1200-1500ft AGL. While in level flight at a normal descent rate, the Vigil fired for no apparent reason. Reserve Pilot chute and bridle were deployed, however, there was not enough drag to extract the free bag and canopy. This resulted in a reserve pilot chute in tow under canopy. Tandem Master landed without incident.
  10. I do not think there is enough time spent on PLF's during the first jump course. I would start on the ground with a small hop. it is important to have someone who knows how to PLF watch you so you do not get into a bad habit, as we all know bad habits are hard to break. Once you have mastered them you could practice from milk crate or chair. I was in the military and know how to PLF very well and it has saved me broken bones and allowed me to walk off the DZ more then once. Just my 2 cents.....
  11. www.aerostore.com Great service! Never had a problem.
  12. I charge 45. I disassemble the rig and mate all the velcro. I soak it in luke warm water and woolite for a few hours then bring it to the laundry matt. I place the rig in a pillow case and throw a few pairs of jeans in to the industrial washing machine. I run it twice to make sure all soap is out. Dry it with a fan and then scotch guard the rig. The repack is an additional $45.
  13. When I got my Spectre it was new, I found if I started folding at the top and never let my body off it I could get into the bag rather quickly and easly. Spectre's open slow no need to do anything with the nose.

  15. I have a question for all you riggers out there; when doing a reserve repack do you also repack the main? I am curious what the general consensus is. When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return. Leonardo da Vinci
