  1. Dude, Does "Depth perception isn't the issue " ring any bells? I would be curious to know what you teach. I did learn one thing from you, that Rx 102's may be the way to go with higher script. Thanks D edit; Is it possible our input does not always catch up with our output?
  2. Jen, Had been planning on jumping this weekend with my old trifocals. ( Just got new rig with new 0/p main loaded at 1.21 put together & inspected yesterday.)1st jump with which will be my 1st 0/p jump. ( & at this loading). Needless to say, I am eager to get this thing in the air! I am now planning on following your advice about goggles. I think I will also stick with rental 288 until flare resolved. I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH, -Chad you are a lucky man. Blue Skies, Don
  3. Casch, I agree, age would be a valuable adition to profiles. In my case (I'm54) it is an indicator of all the wonderful things that happen to you when you get old, like slower reaction times, deteriorating eye sight,(like he said) jada, jada, jada. I think it could be a valuable tool when getting or giving help. (for those who would use it) Can't see any drawbacks, d
  4. Dog, Is Sharpcutter o/p or f-111? Do you wear glasses? I agree with phoenixlpr that you get max flare from full glide. I have to disagree with the assessment that you are "heavily" overloading your canopy at your experience level, you may be close to the line if you have slow reaction time. (My calculations show your wing load as .959) UNLESS you are in less than average physical condition or have eye sight issues, etc., you may find this loading fine for many jumps. I started at 20 jumps with a wing load of .954(f-111) & all of my jumps are on f-111. On the other hand, none were under a Sharpcutter. Many older high jump skydivers that I have talked to have tried 0/p and gone back to f-111(fewer hard opennings & less speed) I would definitely not "forget" about F-111, I believe it has value at both ends of the experience spectrum. phoenixlpr is right about getting with your instructor & or video, you may be doing something you are not aware of or purhaps your brakes/risers are not correct length resulting in less than full flare. Good luck, D
  5. Sara, Check Sangiro's first post (there are two) in this thread-click on the first link-this will take you to another (previous)thread-read;Wendy's/aka;wmw999 post--it worked for me! (she refers to link as "clicky") PS- Thanks to; Sangiro & Wendy tips; by clicking on: show user's posts; in profiles, you get an idea who you are talking to- etc. also, by clicking 'watch thread' you will recieve Email when someone replys to that post- eliminating unanswered posts. This site rocks! D
  6. Brian, Doc suggests I use my trifocals, which I plan to do. Have you tried this? Have any problems with high flares? Also how do you load your spectre 170? Thanks D
  7. Mark, You are the fourth person with over 2000 jumps to advise/coment on this issue (thats over 13000 jumps experience). I both respect & appreciate the input, thanks.
  8. Dog, How many jumps on canopy?, how many on lines?, what is your wieght?, what problems (if any) have you experienced in these 37 jumps? This is info anyone would need to help you, preferably someone that has jumps on sharpcutter. I agree, instructors & video are best, but not always avilable. I believe the ARMY teams used sharpcutters at one time-you might try runing a search or 2 . EDIT; Ran a search using sharpcutter-Quess that answers my question about canopy, line age & experiences! (congrats. by the way) Since you have 6 more jumps on this canopy I asumed you got it fixed? What WAS the explanation? D
  9. Back in the sport this past weekend, with new Rx goggles- (from new script/with 2.0 both eyes) I was all set to make my first jump in 12 yrs. 288 manta- piece of cake, right ? First flare@25ft,[email protected] the #%&! ??? NEVER had this problem before. Long story/short; Talk to Doc today, turns out "at 2.0-you have no depth perception". Thanks for the first jump course, Thanks for the PLF practice, Thanks for every one of the 288 sq. ft. D
  10. T, Thanks for the greets, Noticed in your posts, a thread in Skydiving disiplines-RW(exits for pickup loads). This is a forum I had completely overlooked & will post in as soon as I get some time, thanks again. D
  11. Peach, Thanks for the greets! See from your posts your working on your "A" Got mine today, after 23yrs & 307 jumps!! Give me a yell if ever i can help D (& after you get your "A", remember to put your...
  12. Thanks for the wlcome everybody! Jayruss-Combination of personal issues. D
  13. I believe most Drop Zone Operators put a limit on wieght that is based on the size of the reserves in their student rigs. (local DZ here is 220#) However, as DenRen and Michaelflying say; "where there is $$, there is a way." Para-Flite makes the largest reserve I know of;http://www.paraflite.com/html/mc5.html; the 370', MT-1X.(don't know if it is 0/p-they do have 0/p 308'R)This should put you under student wing load max. Their rigs are convertable from S/L too. Another rig solution could be a tandem container, I would contact;http://www.relativeworkshop.com/-You might want to run a search of:username; billbooth , I think he has posted on this subject. When you get your ducks lined up go to local DZ & talk to the DZO. Would love to know how it turns out-Good Luck!
  14. It really does'nt feel like 12 yrs, was amazed when I got out the log book! But I digress...What got me back was talking to old friends who are still jumping, and realizing I have a hole in my soul where my cruiselite used to be. I miss the sky, I miss the people, and I miss the dream. Donnie D
  15. Wendy's post makes it clear to me- THANKS ALL D
  16. Lisa, I probably worded my question badly. What I would like to know (& couldn't find in FAQ's)is, How did you create the (link?)' "here" that when I clicked on , took me to FAQ's ? Don
  17. Could someone please explain how to create a link in posts ?
  18. HI YA-ALL, I am back after 12 yrs out of sport. (Started 1980) Going to make my curency jumps this weekend.(weather permitting) Then on to 'A' license (seems funny with 300+ jumps, but never needed one before) Can't say enough about DZ.com, site is Fantastic I have already bought and sold gear here and have learned much forums & reviews-Thanks, D
  19. Yes, I believe this issue IS important. That said; I will continue to pack with bridle inside pc as Bill states in post, for two of the same reasons I jump vectors-safety & reliability.
  20. Assumption incorrect; 1&1/2" velcro is on bottom flap & sits under right SIDE flap when closed-as close as you can get to BOC pocket mouth & still be under SIDE flap. (velcro on bridle would be between pin & pc) (This is Vector II) But, thanks anyway, D
  21. Found Bill Booth's post...don't know how to link... will attach
  22. QuoteSo, if you don't put most of the PC bridle in the middle of the PC, where do you put it? Outside the PC but still in the BOC pouch? Yes...S-FOLDED (???)
  23. I have been told to "never stow excess bridle in pilot chute". Since I have always done this, with no problems, I am wondering What's uuppp ? Also; I have Vector II with 1&1/2" velcro patch on lower flap, next to BOC pocket. I have bought new pilot chute with no velcro on bridle. Do I have rigger put velcro on bridle (system I'v always used with no problems), or remove velcro from rig ? Thanks D
  24. I agree with AggieDave & Shivon- Got my tape from Aerodyne...it really took the mystery out of PRO Packing
