  1. In the UK you need a B licence to wear a full face.
  2. If your thinking Spain, the obvious choice is Empuria, they don't do RAPS (S/L) there only AFF. And to convert from RAPS to AFF you can go from CAT5 to AFF level 3 or you will need to start again. If you do AFF or RAPS, once your CAT8 you can apply for you A licence, then you shouldn't have any trouble jumping any where in the world as long as only want to do solo's. Freeflying by then end of feb is just not going to happen. (did you mean freefall not freefly?)
  3. From the BPA op's manual: (once you reach CAT5 you can move to AFF level 3, if you want to do AFF now you would need to start from the beginning). Read 5&6 in atachment RAPS & AFF Op's manual downloadable from BPA web site.
  4. I started jumping 16 months ago and havent jumped in about a month because my local dz closed for christmas, Ive got nearly a hundred and my b licence, and I didnt think Ive been jumping much compared to most people I know.
  5. New rig, FF1 by 150 jumps, C licence (200 jumps) by my birthday in August. Got 94 jumps now. !!Hopefully!!
  6. Try this site http://www.friflaj.com very good!!!
  7. I started AFF on a Square F111 240 ripcord with a wing loading 0.92:1 and halfway through my consols after my hop&pop and my throwout conversion I was given a 200 throwout by my instructor which meant a loading of 1.1:1, I actually found it easier to fly and land than the 240. As for canopy control I would say to do some hop&pops from 5k or so and just play with the canopy see what it will do, practice flaring, turns (flat & spriol), find the stall point, using the risors, as long as you don't do any silly below your harddeck for chopping or near any one else or once you've started your landing pattern, you should be fine, plus it's lot of fun.
  8. I was at work oneday and I was board out of my mind. Ah surf the web, umm skydiving, I always wanted to do that. I live in the UK and less than one month later I was in Spain at Empuria (sorry about the spelling) doing AFF. I knew no skydivers and in two weeks I made lots of new friends and came home with my A licence. When I came home I found a good dropzone about an hour from where I live, and now a year on I've got 60 jumps and my B licence and even more. Ever since I came back from Spain all my non skydiviing friends keep saying they wabt to give it a go but none have as yet and that's not a problem for me either. Sorry for the rant but I feel quite strongly that if you want to do it then do it, dont feel weird about going on your own.
  9. your one crazy motherf*****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I did AFF and it was great, but I did it in a week, you build up momentium and confidience, I know know people who spend months doing on the odd good weekend, and they found it tough. If you can afford it I would recomend doing it quickly but if you only want to do it at weekends I'd stick to SL.
  11. I jumped with a cold last winter and had no real problems, but my ears did hurt quite a lot for an hour or so after, I wouldn't recomend it, one weekend off wouldn't kill you.
