  1. COOL! I'm applying as an individual. I'm a self-employed small biz owner. "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  2. well, I'm a newbie...but both logic and experienced jumpers have explained to me that many injuries happen when landing. I think it sucks that your instructors have not impressed this point upon you. FIND SOMEONE WHO WILL HELP YOU WITH YOUR LANDINGS BEFORE YOU GET HURT! I love this sport and I love flying the canopy and standing up those landings on target! i'd hate to get hurt. Find a reliable instructor and get the training you deserve! rock on! "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  3. Anyone know if/where/how to obtain medical insurance for skydivers? I'm signing up for a medical policy and they specifically do not cover injuries resulting from flying, skydiving, etc. etc. any info? "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  4. Wow...I'm so new to the sport that I can't begin to imagine where your frustration comes from. All I can say is that...I don't mind anyone checking my gear. Licensed or not...I love this new sport so much that I have never really considered how dangerous it really is. So if you're experienced and you really know what you're doing, feel free to check my gear anytime! You can never be TOO careful! "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  5. I live in the Midwest and our season is all but over. It's getting darn cold around Chicagoland. I'm wondering if you guys & gals have any advice or experience to share in regards to continuing my skydive training at multiple drop zones. In other words...if I'm running out of weather here in Chicago, maybe I can continue jumping in other areas where the weather is nice. I'm a little afraid, as my DZ is the only one I've ever jumped from. They're like my family when it comes to skydiving. I haven't trusted anyone else with my life as of yet! Any feedback is more than welcomed! Thanks. "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  6. Greetings one and all...I'm a new skydiver at Level 5 of the AFF training program. I'm wondering opinions on the AFP program vs. the AFF program. I'm assuming that it probably doesn't make much of a difference. Every skydiver that I've met is super safety-oriented...I don't think this condition would change from one training program to the next. However, I am curious if any of you feel that there's a grave difference between the two programs. "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  7. well, I just passed my AFF level 4 jump (finally) and I'm starting to get the feel of freefall. I'm feeling really good under the canopy and now I'm on my way to enjoying both halves of my skydives! The season is winding down here in the Midwest...as I travel the country I'd like to have my own gear to jump. I'm a Male, 5'11", 178lbs, and I've been jumping a 215 lately. I like the 215 but I can tell that I will outgrow it sooner than later. I don't think I'm ready for a lighting fast 170 or anything, but I'm thinking that a 190 should last me a while. Looking for any advice or links to good gear...new, used, I don't have a preference. I just want good reliable equipment and I have no time in the sport so I'm wide open for peoples opinions and recommendations. Rock on! "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  8. Well, I went out to the dz this weekend to carry first time jumpers out that I had been begging to tag along for a while now. I took 2 Sudafed decongestants and went up anyway...congested and all. I was very nervous after all the horror stories and the warnings I received from the pros in the hanger. But the Sudafed really dried me up and both my nasal passages were clear when I boarded the plane. I had a good jump, but missed a couple of maneuvers because I was so worried about my condition...so I had to repeat my solo level 2 jumps twice! I went home, overdosed on medicine, vitamins & nasonex nasel spray...woke up on Sunday and jumped twice again! I passed on to level 3! So I guess I got lucky with the congestion. Sudafed is my new best friend! "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  9. I'm a new jumper myself, and the only advice I can give, is to get information if you are ever in doubt! This forum is a great place to get experienced information when you have a question about anything related to skydiving! Have fun and above all STAY SAFE! c. "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  10. Wow...I gotta tell you people...I think the awesome people that I've met are even more addicting to me than the thrill of freefalling! Thank you all so much (Fast, Talonsky, Jumpgod & Speedracer) for the totally valuable and sincere feedback/advice you gave me about jumping while congested. I kept my feet planted firmly on the ground, and am heading out to the DZ tomorrow with a pile of friends for their first jumps! If I can't fly, then I'll push as many new heads into the plane as possible! I'll definitely heed the warnings and wait until I'm 100% before I continue my evolution as a new born skydiver! love and respect to you all! c. "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  11. Yup...that's my dz! I love those folks at CSC. But that trip costs almost $1K! As much as I'd love to hang with the CSC staff, I've gotta find a more affordable solution. But thanks for the info! If I happen across some extra moula I'd love to train and party with the CSC staffers! "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  12. Arrrrgh! Now I'm really pissed! I get rained out Labor Day weekend, and then I'm told if I jump with a cold the mucous will back up into my ear and my head will explode! Leave it to me to get addicted to such an unpredictable, dangerous and EXPENSIVE past-time! Well, thank you all so much for the valuable information! I guess I'll take my friends out on Saturday to jump and keep my sick a*# on the ground! c. "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  13. Okay, so I'm obsessed and haven't jumped in like a week and I have to get a fix this weekend. But I'm sick. Not deathly ill or anything, just congested and still sorta "coming down" with a cold, ya know? I don't think anything will stop me from getting into that Twin Otter today, but anyone have any experience skydiving with a cold? c. "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  14. Wow, thanks Skyhuffo! That's great information. I really want to work on my form, and I had the chance to practice atop a jet engine once back in like '95 while in Puerto Rico! I'll check into all of the leads you gave me! Blue Skies to you too my friend! "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
  15. okay, thanks a lot for the info! c. "Life is a party...dance your way through it!"
