It took me a total of 7 tandems before I got through my AFF. 3 were before I started it, but the remaining 4 were for pretty much the same reasons your friend has... I was injured on AFF 2 landing which took away my confidence. I was also struggling to get the picture in my head about flight patterns etc when under canopy so my next jump was a tandem where we focused on canopy control and landing. I attempted AFF 3 but had a huge anxiety attack before emplaning, so took a break. I didn't want to give up the sport but wasn't ready to solo again and did 3 more tandems before I got back into AFF so I could still get my knees in the breeze. My instructors pointed out the money factors but they supported my decisions as they believed in me and knew I would eventually fly solo again. I hope your friend finds a DZ that will allow them to do the tandem. Even if they never get back into AFF I admire them for keeping on trying. As my instructor once said - "Once a skydiver, always a skydiver". They may no longer jump but if they have done at least 1 AFF jump they will always be a skydiver. Kaz Never ever ever give up

The owner/operators at Temora treat all jumpers as one of the family. They are always happy to give advice when requested and genuinely want everyone to have fun. There is none of the politics that seems to occur at some other DZ's which makes for a very enjoyable environment.

I'm about to pass the 40 hour mark. Using nicotine patches that itch like crazy and just need something in my mouth all the time. I was told yesterday that it doesn't physically get any harder than the first day but it's a lot worse today. I had so much trouble getting my A licence that I keep telling myself if I can do that I can do anything but this is sooooo tuff. It was hard getting myself in the plane but it was all over in 1/2 hour and I'm wondering if this will EVER get any easier. If anyone has any tips on how to get through this I'd really appreciate it! Maybe I need to change my sig. to be Never ever ever give up giving up, lol. Kaz Never ever ever give up

AFF Stage 7 back in May, TA'd into bad place, had to flare a bit late to miss the tree and didn't PLR (froze in terror) so landed hard on my feet and as my knees hit I jarred my back real good. Luckily there was no permanent injury and I was back in the air 2 weeks later. That was my last TA'd jump, too, because I learnt I was depending on it far too much and it was time to take responsibility for myself. Kaz Never ever ever give up Kaz Never ever ever give up

32 jumps, including 8 tandems, 1 ambulance ride & overnight in hospital, 2 long breaks (one from fear, the other just circumstance) and 2 incredible instructors who never gave up on me and believed in me when I didn't - I can't believe I finally did it!!! Hi, you can view the Opregs on the APF website regarding requirements for licences etc. There is also a section about jumpers visiting from overseas. http://www.apf.asn.au/apf_admin/downloads/opregs2003.pdf New regulations come into effect next month, but I don't have my copy with me to say if the E Licence/AAD/Overseas Visitor bits have changed. It might be worth emailing the APF to get definite answers. Kaz Never ever ever give up

I agree with the other comments that we should really have our A licence before travelling to other DZ's, however I recently had to move 12 hours away from my home DZ so had no choice but to find a new one. I took all my paperwork and so on with me and did my first jump there with a senior instructor so he could assess me. Since I'm still on student gear, I went from hip mounted ripcord to chest mounted so spent a fair bit of time practising the new deployment method. If I could just complete the accuracy component I would have my A licence veyr soon! Kaz Never ever ever give up

What was meant to be a 1 month break from jumping ended up being 4 months (not injury related) but I finally jumped again on Saturday. I was more scared than my first jump and this was my 28th. Did another one on Sunday. I have never felt confident under canopy before but I actually had FUN and was smiling the whole way to landing. Landed 28m from the target......I can just feel my A licence won't be too far away now! Anyone else taken a break and then really wanted to jump again but after gearing up you are looking for every excuse to get out of it? lol Kaz Never ever ever give up

Saw it at the Imax last weekend - it was in 2D. I wasn't aware it was available in 3D?! If it is, then it would be a must-see as the 2D version is brilliant. Kaz Never ever ever give up
