I have a decent amount of experience with both, and I would definately go with the Safire2. Don't get it confused with the original. The safire 2 has a great range of flight, superior dive characteristics, and much better openings. I put 100 jumps on my 129 loaded at 1.33 and NEVER had a hard opening. To contrast, I've jumped a Sabre2 probably a dozen times, and while none of the openings were what you could call "hard," they were definately swift. Don't get me wrong, the Sabre2 is a good canopy, but I think that the Safire 2 is a better platform. _________________________________________ Your canopy sucks.

I also have the "problem" of a short recovery arc. I jump a Safire2 at 1.3 and start my 270 at about 700 feet. What seems to work for me is initiating the turn with harness. Now, you said that you can't really harness turn your sabre. Have you tried getting your legstraps almost to the crooks of your knees? It really gives you a lot more leverage. Just a suggestion. In response to your question the basic point for the first round, the speed round, the point is 4 people build a star on their bellys and then two people dock on their bellys and proceed to pulling down the formation thus being called hangers and then the two reamaining freeflyers called stingers take their place on the outside docked on the belly flyers in a freefly fasion opposite each other. This is called a well hung star with stingers. This is also the first point in the RW hybrid round. Then after that point is achieved we will open the 4 way belly to a point I call geek the camera where everone is facing the same direction in a big line with the two stingers docked on opposite ends.
