  1. Basic biology and geneology says different.
  2. You've pinpointed the problem. So many denying the reality of and responsibility for the children they've created. (Here's where you claim that it's "just a lump of cells.") Pathetic.
  3. But "who" goes on inside her body is another issue; and the only issue pertinant to this discussion.
  4. Completely irrevelevant that I didn't "birth" them, but I've fathered two; and those pregnancies were every bit as much my concern as they were their mother's.
  5. Not the forum for it, remember?
  6. Yeah; kill your kids out of convenience. Pretty courageous!
  7. Sounds like he's just trying to walk it back and avoid a lawsuit rather than standing on principle.
  8. You've made a great case for disallowing chaplains, but as long as they exist, their job descriptions include sectarian qualifications. If the existence of chaplains does not violate the First Amendment, having parameters consistent with their function doesn't either.
  9. Perhaps it's just a case of great minds thinking alike.
  10. I just started jumping again after a 20-year layoff. I have a 90s-era Vector with a 9-cell Raider main. Besides being obsolete, the Raider is designed for someone who is a who lot lighter than I am now, with better knees. The harness/container is in fantastic condition, as I suspect the reserve is as well. Can a modern 230-250' main fit in my container?
  11. Thanks for confirming that you haven't a clue.
  12. Well, perhaps you're overestimating me [sarc], as I have no idea how this forum works. I kinda thought skydiving might be a topic of interest here, but what do I know? Anyway, I came here to interface with and learn from others who share my enthusiasm for the sport. I've called myself a skydiver for nearly four decades, but half of that time was a layoff that ended last fall, so I'm a bit new to the sport as it exists today, and hardly consider myself an authority. As for how to responsibly lead and defend a nation, I'm pretty well versed, so I don't need any input from this crowd. I guess I'll show myself out.
  13. After reading and getting sucked into some of the topics, I was beginning to wonder. Anyway, here goes with my entry into the sport, many years ago: In 1982, I headed to Austin Parachute Center in Manor, TX with some buddies for my first jump. We all had a good time on our static-line T-10 jumps, then my buddies went back to College Station while I stayed at the airport and partied with the DZ regulars. I slept in a hanger that night wrapped in a C-9 parachute and woke up the next morning a little hung over and manifested on the first load. My jumpmaster said, "yeah; you're gonna be a skydiver!"
  14. If you don't understand the total disconnect between your two examples, you're not fit to comment.
  15. I used to work for Mike Hayden; and by that I don't mean that I just worked for organizations led by him. My function included one-on-one meetings with him. Relative to the levels of his positions, he's an idiot.
  16. I swore with my life to defend it; however, your response didn't address my claim that a chaplain's religion is a BFOQ. It is.
  17. All of this ranges from overblown hype to outright lies. There was no "invasion." Multiple recent videos clearly reveal that the "insurrectionists" were literally ushered into the capitol by security personnel.
  18. It's unlikely that anyone in this discussion is more intelligent than Greg Abbott.
  19. Actually, the analogy is PERFECT. This is not showing favor of a religion; all religions should equally enjoy this protection. What we have here is a BFOQ--a bona fide occupational qualification. An endorsement of and adherence to the particular faith in question is an absolute requirement to perform the job competently.
  20. As many have pointed out, this was not necessarily reckless from a safety standpoint, but certainly from a stupidity and selfishness standpoint.
  21. I'll explain it quantitatively: 180 degrees.

    Parents...

My mom came out to watch me jump one time when my parents traveled on vacation to visit. She was a bit of a worry wart and didn't support us doing anything more dangerous than reading in bed, but after so many years of my flying and jumping out of planes, she was used to the idea. My father was a career military aviator but vehemently opposed to skydiving. Mom is 17 years gone now, and Dad is 88. I'd still like to get him up on a tandem.
