Great advise. I packed to get my "A" and pretty much never again. 200 jumps later that is alot of money I have spendt. Now with a C lic I am finally going to hang with a packer who is staying North this winter and pack all day till I get it right. I feel like a jerk at the DZ that i can't pack, now will I still be lazy sometimes and pay a packer probably. By the way welcome. One jump, one piece of equipment at a time and you'll be fine. Save money all winter then go for it. Or like it was said go somewhere warm. If you do that when you come back find a DZ in the North that jumps in winter its cold but you will stay current. When I went through AFF and failed jumps or couldn't answer equipment, ep proc etc. My instructors would never let me slide. I carried some big resentments for a while. Now I am so grateful. Now 200 jumps later I am still learning everyday. I aslo have a SO who pushes me to practice my EPs brfore every jump. He has well over 500 and I have never seen him get reqady to exit without the last thing being EP practice. We talked about this last night and he said he was told yea here is your cypress here is how it works, now after you turn it on at the DZ forget you have it. SKydiving safly is my responsibility to myself and those who love me. I would if I were that jumper politly ask fellow jumpers to let me learn from my instructor and not ride me too hard. If she learned it, it is obviouly time to relearn. If she never learned it, thank God she lived and it is not too late. Sometime people are quick to say "bowling". Soem said it to me and about me. The few that believed in my work ethic stayed with me, kept me safe and to this day my old instructors are right there with "Blue do you know what you did wrong and that jump?" Sometimes I do sometimes I don't. But I always am willing to listen. When I am perfect maybe I'll stop but who is perfect??? Stay safe, have faith, and don't be careful how you judge. Thanks for the sorry but we will be fine. To answer second question. For me the wanting to jump hasn't changed at all. As a matter of fact this weekend I couldn't jump when it was going to be like 60degrees so off I went to the DZ in 46degress low cloyds. Got one Hop and Pop and two full altitudes. Did my first Tandem with my husband as well. That spring I took up AFF and he took up golf. He still listens to my stories. We are seperated now, (not because of skydiving, but he still wants the contact info he has the kids while I am jumping. My SO favorite thing to bitch about is that I don't log right away. After a few days after jumping Ill say how many jumps did I make Sat it makes him mad. So now I log at the end of each day with mostly details of an accomplishment, soemthing funny on a jump or in the plan (always something funny happens in the plane. I really enjoy reading about my jumps with friends. Kiss passes, first sit fly etc. The most fun is going back to AFF oh My God, soem funny stuff there. Lots of repeat level whatever. Great advise. I am a full time business manager as well as a single Mom of two kids it took a long time for AFF even longer for my own gear.
