  1. The PAL and NTSC memory cards are identical. If you want to use a previous used PAL card in a NTSC camera you first have to format the card again in the camera. Of course for NTSC the other way around. Grtzz, Henny
  2. Writing yes, but reading (copying from card to PC) will make a lot of difference in time. Easily a factor 3 to 6. Meaning instead of downloading a card for 6 min you can do it in one minute with a fast card. When there's not so much time in between jumps and you want to review ASAP fast cards are a big priority.
  3. I'm looking for the fastest Memory Stick Card on the market. The write speed is not an issues but the download speed to get the files from the card to the computer. Of course the adapter is a big part of this but I'm talking about the card itself. Because all my cards (CF, SD & MS) are Sandisk I would prefer to stay with this brand but I know Lexar is not slow either. I'm (a bit) confused. At present here in Holland Sandisk has following cards: - SanDisk Ultra® Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo™ - SanDisk Ultra® II Memory Stick PRO Duo™ - SanDisk Ultra® II Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo™ - SanDisk Extreme® III Memory Stick PRO Duo™ - SanDisk Extreme® III Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo™ - SanDisk Video HD™ Memory Stick PRO Duo™ Not all cards are listed on the Dutch and/or US website or visa versa but all these cards are listed for 30 MB/s write/read. There's a significant price difference though and I guess the Extreme III should be faster for double the price but seen the specs it's not. Does any of you cameraflyers have first hand experience and can tell me if there's indeed a (read) speed difference explaining the price? ThanX, Henny
  4. We’re getting closer to the event. In the meantime we’ve many registered jumpers & visitors and the list is growing rapidly. Most will join the CF jumps as well. 1 Henny Wiggers NLD 2 Edu Mertz NLD 3 Alexey Gerasimenko RUS 4 Michael Shevchuk RUS 5 Gerben Frankvoort NLD 6 Ronald Overdijk NLD 7 Andrew Hilton UK 8 Jasper Nales NLD 9 Nol Camfferman NLD 10 John Verduin NLD 11 Rob Jongkees NLD 12 Jasper Nales NLD 13 Basten Oudmaijer NLD 14 Günther Kiefer GER 15 Eric Schimmel NLD 16 Johan Wiltink NLD 17 Peter Derksen NLD 18 Ben Janssen NLD 19 Ludwig Schmude GER Because of the CF record attempts I’ve packed most canopies into regular accuracy rigs with 3-ring release system. Our goal is a 4-way diamond and a stack bigger than 4. The attached pictures show most canopies we’ve so far. There will be several more (like DeltaWing II) but we don’t have pictures yet. I’m still looking for canopies that are not on the list like 28’ Jumbo, RW PC, Double keel Paradactyl, Piglet, CrossBow, Parasled, PTCH, RL-8, etc. Hopefully the weather will cooperate like last year. It’ll be great fun.
  5. Hi Swooopers, Registration is on-going so I'll post the names that already confirmed their participation. Registration fee: € 125 which will be turned into cash purse. Please register soon, also for a bunkbed. We expect many more foreigners and beds are limited. Thursday 27: Training at the beach Friday 28 + Saturday 29: Competition Saturday 17:00 comp closed, followed by prize giving, big BBQ and party with live ROCK band (Spinrock!). 1 Albert Berchtold USA 2 Mike Vogeleer BEL 3 Peter Lankreijer NL 4 Pieter Wittevrongel BEL 5 Tobias Alsiö SWE 6 Oliver Jünger GER 7 Nina Engel GER 8 Jay Moledzki CAN 9 Sergey Kotlyarov RUS 10 Andrey Slyshankov RUS C ya all, mailto:[email protected]
  6. Following the great success of the previous years we again organize a Vintage weekend at Dutch National Skydiving Center Teuge (The Netherlands) the weekend of October 3 and 4. This weekend we’ll jump round and triangular canopies ranging from the historical military rounds to the latest sport rounds; Paracommander (all versions), Papillon, Olympic, Russian UT-15, Sierra, Starlite, Thunderbow, Paradactyl, Delta Wing II, etc., etc.,... Most canopies are already assembled and packed into modern sport rigs with 3-ring release and square reserve, ready to jump. Some are still in their original configuration with chest reserves. Parallel to the regular jumping we’ll try to break our round and triangular CF (crw) record, a 4-way stack, by building a 6-way stack and we’ll also try to build a 4-way diamond. DZ Teuge is about 1¼ hour by train from Amsterdam airport. If you’re interested send me an e-mail at [email protected]
  7. Your shutter speed (TV 250) is a little too long. You've to be really steady to have a steady image. A little movement will cause blurry images. I'm pretty sure that's what happened. Bump it up to at least 400 and keep your head still (relative to the subject) when you shoot the picture. ** Know what you say but don't say all you know. **
  8. Registration for The Lake Bussloo Swoop Comp is also open now. Please send me ([email protected]) an e-mail if you want to participate. Thursday (August 27) training on the beach Friday and Saturday competition Saturday night closing ceremony followed by a big BBQ and party with Rock Band. All registration fee (€ 125) will be turned into prize money. The more competitors the bigger the cash purse! We expect more competitors so reservations for the bunkrooms will be for the first to register. Grtzz, Henny ** Know what you say but don't say all you know. **
  9. Could it be a malfunctioning Delta Wing II? ** Know what you say but don't say all you know. **
  10. Here are the promised pages. I've some more but no time to dig 'm out. ** Know what you say but don't say all you know. **
  11. The label definitely says Competition. I'll have a look at the holes and make a picture of the label when I've a chance. This canopy has shorter lines and is much more aggressive. The radius on a turn is much smaller. Therefore you should not land in a turn. Straight in landings are no problem and probably the same as with a Mk1. I've many Pioneer PC's like Mk1, Mk2, Mk3, Comp, 23 + 27 ft Russian (American Made).
  12. Hi Kevin, There's enough said about the body position during opening. As a cameraman with lots of equipment on my head I can confirm that keeping your head straight is really the best situation. Regarding the canopy you could consider Dacron lines instead of microlines. They won't last as long but will definitely give you softer and more consistent opening. I jump all PD canopies for various jobs but mainly Sabre2 for camerawork. I even prefer it above the Spectre. Get back in the air prepared.
  13. I've an ad with two full pages with the names including the piglets and starlites and the MK2 colors. I'll scan it but post it after most names are filled in so people still have to think hard. ** Know what you say but don't say all you know. **
  14. I've a very similar one that I regularly jump. Especially on our vintage weekends. It's a Competition though and I've to look for the date. Now I've a closer look the colors are a like but the pattern is different. ** Know what you say but don't say all you know. **
  15. Now the World Meet is over it’s time to look ahead and start planning the swoop events for 2009. In Europe we would like to set-up a European Swoop Tour again. The initial main criteria are IPC rules, high level event and a significant cash purse. Voss Norway, Kolomna Russia, Empuriabrava Spain and Bussloo The Netherlands used to have this but unfortunately the first 3 are not even scheduled anymore. Therefore we’ve lowered the limit to about € 6.000 to be part of the EST family. • Lillo Spain April 30 to May 03 (potential EST) • Kaohsiung Chinese Taipei June 06 -13 (World Games) • Fehrbellin Germany June 25 -27 (potential EST) • Turin Italy July 16 – 26 (World Air Games) • Bad Lippspringe Germany July 22 – 25 Open UK Nationals (potential EST) • Kolomna Russia considering a bid for World Cup for first or second weekend of August • Italian Swoop Competition probably first or second weekend of August (potential EST) • Klatovy Czech Republic August 14 – 16 (potential EST) • Zwartberg Belgium August 21 – 23 (potential EST) • Bussloo The Netherlands August 27 – 29 (potential EST) • Johannesburg South Africa October 07 – 11 (bid for IPC World Cup) • Skydive Spaceland Texas October 12 – 27 (US Nationals incl. CP) Parallel to the EST there might be an August Swoop Tour (with an overall cash purse) for at least Klatovy, Zwartberg and Bussloo. Hopefully Italy can join as well. We’re heading a busy and interesting swoop season. Henny
  16. Although in general the weather wasn't very good this season we've been very lucky with the weather during events at Teuge this year. Dutch Nationals Lake Bussloo Swoop World Championships Canopy Formation European Record CF Vintage Weekend All these events had exceptional good weather. We especially scheduled the vintage weekend in the beginning of October because it's about the end of the season here and the weather is normally still good enough for round canopies (no or moderate winds). Maybe next year we can schedule it a little earlier (end of September) but we'll also plan the EuRec CF again in September. Anyway, we'll think about it. Henny
  17. Have a look at our website: http://www.paracentrumteuge.nl/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=30&Itemid=75&jos_change_template=springers http://www.paracentrumteuge.nl/component/option,com_zoom/Itemid,489/catid,57/
  18. The weekend was perfect. Great weather, especially for round canopies; 20°C and 1-4 m/s wind. I estimate about 50 - 60 vintage jumps were made with mainly PC type canopies like Papillon, Sierra, Thunderbow, Olympic, UT-15 and all kind of Pioneer PC's (including Russian models). But also the jumps with the Pioneer Hornet (first generation "ramair square") and the only two existing Slots canopies were special. On Sunday afternoon we did some CF. Coming months we'll be working on PC-CF. Big stacks and at least a 4 way diamond. PC-CF will be part of the program of the Vintage Weekend 2009 (probably the same weekend in October). I would like to thank all participants (jumpers and reunion visitors) for this awesome weekend. C ya next year, Henny
  19. Thanks! Next year it'll be bigger for sure. With some selection and training camps before the event the size will be at least doubled. Hope you can make it next time. Henny
