    Falcon

The Falcon 9 cell canopy was introduced by Precision Aerodynamics in 1986. The canopy was designed utilizing the same successful "sizing techniques" which had become so popular in the Raven main/reserve. The idea of producing a different canopy size for a specific weight range was quickly picked up by other manufacturers.
  2. Many people use the Super Raven canopy as a main parachute, and we expect some people will still want to choose the Super Raven as their reserve canopy.
  3. The Raven Dash-M Series was designed from the very beginning to be a reserve-only canopy. Unlike the Super Raven Series which is commonly used as a main or as a reserve, the Raven Dash-M Series has no main bridle attachment ring and associated hardware, and no packing tabs or other bulky tapes necessary for a canopy used in the environment as a main parachute.
  4. The Vengeance is one of the first airlock sport parachutes on the market. This 9-cell, all zero porosity fabric, is a noticeable step up from the Stiletto with a longer control range, steeper dive, and faster turns.
  5. The Navigator offers an unparalleled combination of performance, forgiveness, and durability, while providing the ability to raise the level of student canopy piloting instruction. With its cutting edge design and construction, we are confident it will outperform any other student canopy and maintain this performance over a much longer life span. The Navigator, along with a progressive student canopy training program, will create safer and more competent canopy pilots.
  6. The PD 9-cell, the first product to be released by Performance Designs, was revolutionary in its day. At a time when main parachutes were simply intended to get a skydiver down to the ground, Bill Coe, founder of Performance Designs, believed the performance of Ram-air canopies could be vastly improved. The PD 9-cell raised the bar for all main parachutes; it provided superior flare power and more responsive flight characteristics than the average main.
  7. Using what was learned from the design of the PD 9-cell, Performance Designs released a 7-cell version. Constructed entirely of traditional low porosity fabric. Designed for skydivers looking for a canopy with traditional 7-cell characteristics, the PD 7-cell was a great choice for those interested in casual accuracy, demos, and CReW during its time.
  8. The lightly-tapered 9-cell Silhouette is designed to provide responsive handling, even at lower wing loadings often preferred by more conservative pilots. If you're looking for a docile, ‘no fuss’ canopy ride, the Silhouette is a great option for you. Due to the combination of fabrics used in the design, it is easy to pack, provides consistent openings with a short snivel, and has lots of flare power. It is best known for having a flat glide, short recovery arc, and easy-to-time flare. The Silhouette is a good choice for those seeking a canopy that is practical yet fun to fly.
  9. If you are serious about CReW, then there is only one choice: the PD Lightning. The Lightning is not just a "regular canopy with CReW lines." It is a canopy designed from the ground up with one thing in mind - canopy relative work. From the pilot chute and bridle retraction system, to heavy duty reinforcement, special trims, and tail pockets, the Lightning has what you need to perform at your best. Whether it's setting world records for the largest formation or the fastest rotation times, the Lightning is the #1 choice in CReW canopies.

    Sabre

The original PD Sabre, like its successor, was designed to be fun to fly, easy to land, and a great choice for those looking for a general-purpose canopy. Built with zero porosity fabric, the Sabre maintains its opening, flight, and landing characteristics over a much longer life span than the conventional low porosity canopies designed during its time. The Sabre provides consistent on-heading openings. At higher wing loadings, it exhibits more responsiveness to control inputs and additional speed, while at lower wing loadings, it provides a longer control range and more forgiveness..

    Stiletto

At the time of its release, the fully-elliptical 9-cell Stiletto was seen as the highest performance canopy available to the expert pilot. With improvements in canopy control technique over the years, the Stiletto has now become a very popular choice for experienced jumpers across many disciplines. For those who appreciate responsive handling, snappy turns, flat glide, a short recovery arc, and great landing capabilities, the Stiletto is a fun and practical way to enjoy your canopy flight.

  13. This adaptation combines features from the Reflex and C-Flex to provide an excellent freefall and CRW harness/container system.
  14. Started out flying PD 210s and puchased a Raider 220 just off student status. Easy packing and very docile openings and under canopy. Exit weight is 200#. Great canopy to hang out and catch the view. After 20 jumps found a Clipper (same design but 195 sq/ft) and did a strait up trade. Main reason for switch was the long rides and that the Raider didn't fit too well in my container. Well, for just going a bit smaller the canopies are very different. The same ease of packing but the openings on the Clipper is VERY brisk. Having played with different packing tricks, I settled on rolling and stuffing the nose AND shoving the tail. This helped tame this sucker but it still wasn't a soft opening. The canopy ride was much more responsive and the flare was better with a heavier wing loading. I can set this thing down in the stones with no wind or 20mph. I even had the "opportunity" to land it down-wind (brain fart?) and had no problems. Great canopies for the beginner, great pack jobs and with light wing loadings even a few line twists won't freak you out.

    Z1

After reading the other reviews I immediately checked mine to realize that wind collar is also starting to separate. I love the qualities this full face offers; however the plastic screws have become a source of concern. After crash testing the face shield :p the screw popped out and the shield partially detached. It is obvious this flimsy part will not take much wear and tear before breaking; metal would have been a wiser material choice. I have had it fog up a couple of times, not to bad though. However on this past, and particularly COLD new years eve jump, just as I turned to track away from a formation the whole face shield frosted over in a split second leaving Zero visability. This was a slightly unnerving situation. I own a size medium which fits nice and snug, though after placing a pro-track in it quickly became uncomfortable. Given these draw backs I still feel it is a good helmet and would buy another, though I think for the cost this helmet could be constructed a little better.

    C-Flex

The C-Flex is a modern, state-of-the-art harness/container system that focuses on CRW needs. This new harness / container system incorporates many new innovative features that enhance one's CRW performance. For long canopy rides, C-Flex has ultra-thick high-density leg pads. To reduce snagging, leg strap hardware is covered. The reserve flaps incorporate deflector flaps, which sheild the reserve pilot chute while not impeding its launch.
  17. The new Reflex S-Class was developed after receiving feedback from current and prospective customers asking for a system with a shorter overall length. Thus the "S-Class" designation for Reflex short version. The original design was tested and finalized in collaboration with Rob Work and John Hamilton of the "Elsinore Storm" 4-Way RW team. They were looking for a couple of modifications. First, a solid lumbar intersection to the main lift web (see photo below right). This is a similar configuration to other harness/containers in the market.

    Cobalt

Just got back from Florida where I demo'd a Cobalt 135. I only had 250 jumps so I was a little skeptical about flying an "eliptical" canopy, but it was amazing! I've beed primarily flying Sabre's, and have also tried Safire's to slowly enter the eliptical scene, but the Cobalt fantastic. The openings were a dream, and consitent. This was welcome from the ever surprising Sabre slam that comes when you least expect it. Under canopy, it was like driving a Ferrari as opposed to the sedans I'm use to. What I like the most was that I never felt "out of control". Front riser turns were extremely responsive, but smooth. Toggle turns, even down low were very smooth, and allowed me to be in full control at all times. I'll second some previous comments about never having to run out a landing! On no wind days, my Sabre still comes in fast, but the Cobalt was so controllable and produced so much lift, that the only landing I ever had to come close to running was a full down winder. Even that was uneventful. I would recommend this canopy to anyone who feels they are ready for an eliptical, or partial eliptical canopy. I just wish I wasn't back up in the Northeast so that I could fly it some more! Another satisfied customer!!!

    Spectre

The lightly-tapered 7-cell Spectre is one of the most popular canopies PD has ever produced. A surprisingly flat glide and soft on-heading openings (with plenty of snivel!) make the Spectre the canopy of choice for the professional cameraman or the everyday wingsuiter. The Spectre is also known for its smooth, progressive response on the toggles. If your priority is predictability, the Spectre is your canopy.
