Thanks all for all the experiences shared and advice given. I did talk to my union rep and we are not "officially" doing anything in sympathy. On the flip side, my employer has said that actions will be taken against those that do not show up, and if you call in sick a dr's note will be needed for proof. They are providing a "side door" entrance for employees and beefed up security. Life is too short. Don't sweat the small stuff.
