I lost eyesight in my left eye due to idiopathic optic neuritis, and received an aggressive steroid treatment. I'm now at 20/200 and cleared to jump again SCR 15113 USPA Coach-C Hellfish 1004 -

There's no cause located as yet. I think I'm up to about 5% vision in the left eye. I crashed my truck wednesday thanks to the vision loss. Fender bender really, nobody was hurt. I really hope it's not going to be a lifetime thing, I just want to get vision back and have it stay even if it only comes back at 20/40 or 20/60 SCR 15113 USPA Coach-C Hellfish 1004

I'm still on student status, and I went blind in my left eye starting last friday and reaching full OS blindness tuesday. The docs say I should get vision back in 4-6 months. I'm close to A license requirements, but I'm thinking of only doing fun jumps until when/if I get left eye vision back. Anyone else jump with monovision, and have any hints or tips on how to deal with the loss of peripheral and depth perception? SCR 15113 USPA Coach-C Hellfish 1004

also i used his example when discussing an Army Times article earlier today. My contention was, " Soldiers with less than 18 months in the army have about as much business discussing our problems as a jumper with 15 jumps in 5 years. All the privates looked at me blankly. As a student with 15 jumps. I have 12 landings(i did 3 tandems). 7 of the landings were complete boffos, all with radio support. 5 have been on my feet and close to the target(no radio or with very little radio help). Learn how your students learn and adapt. Over the top coaching(during the event) negatively affects me. Good coaching (prior to the event) is perfect. It's all about the method of learning. Rock out with your fail exits
joelgibson replied to joelgibson's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've had several people tell me that. We all have our awkward exits, and they really don't matter if you decide to stick with it. 20-30 jumps later you'll be doing things you never imagined you'd be able to do when you started AFF. I was stunned at how far I progressed in "7" (More like 13 for me) jumps in the AFF program, and honestly didn't believe I'd manage to complete all the A license objectives by 25. The level of progression was stunning. I guess it just goes to show how much you can really learn when your life is on the line! Heh heh heh. A few years from now if I somehow end up with a D license, I still want to be able to point back to this video as my starting point. It'd be a blast to show it as an intro to teaching an AFF ground school! I've decided it's my second career after retiring from the army. it's pretty much all i want to do. 6 years 9 months til i can retire. SCR 15113 USPA Coach-C Hellfish 1004 -

yep, 3rd exit from a 182 after training at a turbine dz. totally did not ask anyone how to get out of a 182...relied on youtube vids At least you watched the vid that showed you how to open your riser covers...might want to watch the one that shows how not to scrape your pins all over the door frame...or just ask someone. 13th jump dude, i learned a lesson.
