  2. Everybodies experience with nerves are definitely different and don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise! I told one of my instructors that I didn't think I would get nervous in the door, just on the plane ride up. He bet me a slab I would shit myself in the door... He lost. I'm always a bit nervous on the plane ride up but as soon as that door opens, IT'S GO TIME! All my nerves disappear once that door opens! So yea it's different for everybody! I'm still a newbie too and working with different instructors is definitely the way to go... I found it particularly helpful with canopy piloting... All the instructors were essentially telling me the same things when it came to landing patterns and in particular flying the canopy right to the end and flaring techniques... I understood what they were saying but just couldn't get it right (not big issues but I wanted to begin perfecting my landings...) One guy just explained it in a different way and it just clicked with me, I finally got what they were trying to explain! Also the instructors are going to be great at different things, like rel work, free flying, canopy piloting. You want to be getting advice on lots of different things from lots of different perspectives. It's definitely helped me so far! I'll be in Perris in August! :) Might see you in the sky! 4. That's awesome dude! I arrive in LA at about 11:30pm on Tuesday 14th August. I was thinking of just getting a hotel room and heading to Perris on the Wednesday until Friday. If you end up getting some time off around then definitely let me know! :) Iv'e got another guy who said a similar thing too so keep me posted! I promise good road trip banter! :P I refuse to accept a mediocre life... facebook.com/chutefirst chutefirstapparel.com
  5. ...you go to the circus and while watching a performer spinning around on the high rings you're thinking "Man that would be some hectic line twists..." Anyone else got one? I refuse to accept a mediocre life... facebook.com/chutefirst chutefirstapparel.com
  6. Geez that would be confusing! I refuse to accept a mediocre life... facebook.com/chutefirst chutefirstapparel.com
  7. Yea I know what you mean! I was considering hiring a motorbike! I thought at least I don't have to be weirded out over being on the otherside of the car... But knowing my track record I decided getting a ride/public transport was the smarter option! :P I refuse to accept a mediocre life... facebook.com/chutefirst chutefirstapparel.com
  8. Hahaha yea not that restraurant place! I refuse to accept a mediocre life... facebook.com/chutefirst chutefirstapparel.com
  9. Gee thanks for the vote of confidence Squeak! Hahaha Although I consider myself a good driver, I freak out being a passenger in the US so I dare say actually driving would be a nightmare for everyone involved... Haha If I get the chance to head to Elsinore I definitely will! I'm heading to San Fran for tunnel coaching and Lodi for a few jumps before I go to Perris so Hopefully the opportunity will come up somewhere along the line! :) 6 weeks to go and counting! 10. Hey thanks for the suggestion... I did have a quick look at hire cars and they're up around the $250 mark for 3 days... Also, being from Australia we drive on the other side of the road and I'd rather not drive in a strange city on the opposite side, mainly for the safety of other drivers (and pedestrians). Haha I have had someone offer to give me a lift out there so thats good! And worst case senario I've managed to work out the public transport system... I'd rather give gas money to another poor skydiver like me that's already going out there than to give it to anyone else! I'm staying at IHOP while I'm there so luckily I'm not needing a ride every day! Seems to be falling into place! Can't wait! 11. Thanks dude! Yea I can't wait to get out there!
  12. Thanks skymama!! Hooked is an understatement... My whuffo friends are already sick of the skydive talk! I refuse to accept a mediocre life... facebook.com/chutefirst chutefirstapparel.com
  13. Nice one dude! There is plenty of sun, blue skies and beers down here!... plenty of beer.... lol I refuse to accept a mediocre life... facebook.com/chutefirst chutefirstapparel.com
  14. Hell yea! There's some really nice DZ's in Aus! Just make sure you've got a few jumps before you come over here. Our regulations are waaaaaay more strict than other countries apparently... There's all these additional licenses and stuff... I'm sure you'll have a blast over here! I refuse to accept a mediocre life... facebook.com/chutefirst chutefirstapparel.com
  15. So it's official.... I'm overwhelmingly addicted to skydiving! I started my AFF in mid April and I've clocked up 35 jumps so far! I just bought my own gear and I'm in love with it. If I could marry it I would. I got myself a Jav with a Tri 168 and Raven 150 Res. Don't tell the other skydivers but sometimes I repack my canopy mid week so I can do SOMETHING related to skydiving just to scratch the itch! Haha So I'm from Australia and my home DZ is Nagambie in Victoria! I'm heading to San Fran in August for some tunnel time and jumping at Lodi which I cannot wait for!!! I'm hitting Perris for a couple of days before I go home as well, hoping to do a Balloon or heli jump! I'm staying at the IHOP in Perris which I've heard is a lot of fun! For my 100th jump my plan is to do an Undie Hundie Wingsuit Rodeo! If you're a Lodi or Perris local, hit me up! I want to have a beer with YOU!! 16. I would definitely recommend taking a week and smashing out as many jumps as possible! I did my A license in a week just back in April and I'm now well in front of people who started AFF 7 months ago. Your learning is so much faster if you can do a jump, come down, debrief and get straight back up in the sky to put into practice what you've learnt. Oh and with gear, I wouldnt totally give up on second hand gear. I thought I was going to have to buy new because I couldn't find anything that would fit me properly but the perfect rig came up for an amazing price! :) Keep your eyes peeled... you just never know! 17. Hi All! I'm heading to Perris in August for a couple of days of Jumping... I'm only able to be there for a couple of days so I'm wanting to cram in as many jumps as I can! The public transport seems to take 3 times as long as driving there! I was hoping to get out to Perris early on a Wednesday and I've got to head back to LA on Friday night.... Just wondering, are there many people driving from LA to Perris regularly? Perhaps regular jumpers who live in LA but work out at Perris? I'd of course chip in for gas money and I can provide beers and witty banter! I know I'm probably better off posting this closer to the date but having absolutely no way out there until the last minute scares me a tad! :) Idon't want to get stuck in LA! 18. Hey just as an FYI I found this on the APF website :) 13.2.11 RW involving Tandem Master A parachutist must not engage in Relative Work with a Tandem Master carrying a tandem parachutist unless: (a) The parachutist is the holder of at least a Certificate ‘C’; and (b) The parachutist has the authorisation of the DZSO; and (c) The parachutist has the authorisation of the Tandem Master; and (d) The Tandem Master has made at least fifty (50) documented descents as a Tandem Master since gaining his or her tandem endorsement I refuse to accept a mediocre life... facebook.com/chutefirst chutefirstapparel.com
  19. That's one of my favourite exits so far!! Watching that plane fly over your head is just awesome! I refuse to accept a mediocre life... facebook.com/chutefirst chutefirstapparel.com
  20. I have never looked at it from that perspective, you are 100% right. I know you wouldn't have meant this as a personal reflection on me but I just to be reeeeally clear about what my intentions were for this jump: I know how much she's going to love it so I wanted to be there to see her face and to watch her enjoy it! It's not at all about me... I'd be happy to be flying 20 metres away from her but just to see the joy on her face! :) She's my bestie and I"m surprising her with the jump for her birthday :) I also live over 1000kms away from her and she has no idea I'm even going to be in town... being able to jump with her would have just been the the cherry on top for both of us! If I had more jumps and there was no camera guy it would be perfect but I know she'll be doing her AFF after this so there'll be plenty of opportunity for us to jump together. :) Thanks everyone for your point of view. I'm definitely not one to try and out jump my ability and I think it's really awesome that the experienced people in this sport are happy to give advice and guide a newbie! Thanks everyone! :) I refuse to accept a mediocre life... facebook.com/chutefirst chutefirstapparel.com

  23. Thanks for that info riggerrob! Don't think I'll be quite up to that be the time she goes. haha Geeking from the plane it is then! :) I refuse to accept a mediocre life... facebook.com/chutefirst chutefirstapparel.com
  24. Hi Squeak, Yea that's what I was thinking... I guessed that tandems weren't included in the 'other people' part of the B license 'you are now licensed to fly with other people' conditions :P Haha I think If there was no camera guy then I'd be more inclined to ask if I can get out with her... I'll keep it simple; do a gainer and just give her a big ass wave from the door! :P P.S. She has no idea she's going skydiving... and she won't know until we rock up there! :) I refuse to accept a mediocre life... facebook.com/chutefirst chutefirstapparel.com
  25. That's what I assumed. :) My original plan was to just get on the load with her and geek the camera when I jump out, but I thought just in case it was doable I'd ask the question. I'm 99.9% certain she'll be doing AFF after this so there will be plenty of time for us to jump together! :) Thanks for reinforcing my original thoughts.
