Just as a quick update! I had another couple of hard pulls (no reserve ride) and one of the POPS showed me a really small yet very valuable tip for avoiding a hard pull so I thought I would share it here... When folding the pilot chute I fold it in half then in half again. The second fold I'm making much shorter to make it the same length as my BOC... Now when I put the PC in the BOC i use my hand at the bottom of the PC to push it right down to the end, putting my whole hand in the BOC. This has stopped in bunching up so much and is coming out like an absolute dream!! Hope that helps anyone else (chicks I'd assume ) who might be having a similar issue.

Something that really helped me (and it suprised me how helpful it really was) was getting a digital altimeter. I did some canopy coaching and my coach was saying "What heights are you doing your base leg at?" When I responded 500ft he said "There is no way that's 500 ft!" I put his digital alti on next to my analog alti for a jump and the difference between the two was 200-300ft!! Since I bought my digital alti I haven't landed outside the landing area once! I'm sure as I get more experienced I'll be able to use my eyes more but it's made a huge difference! I found hop n pops really helpful as well! When you're the only one in the sky and don't have to stress about the other canopies as much you can really concentrate on your pattern and looking at the wind speed etc... Good luck with it all!

I had my first mal a couple of weeks ago and my reserve is the Micro Raven M 150... It was a terminal speed opening and it opened beautifully (quick but nice)! I'd never flown a 150 before (my main is a 168) and landed no problems! I thought the flar was fine! I load the reserve at about 1.2. As a newbie myself I can say this canopy felt fine to fly. I practiced a couple of flares up high, then stood up my landing (off DZ with no windsocks or anything to guide me). I'm sure people have had other experiences though! Naw thanks! I had some trouble with my shoulder in the tunnel so I was a bit devo I didn't get to do much free flying... I've got the back flying nailed though now!
