YISkyDive 0 #1 February 17, 2006 I see a bunch of these on E-bay- so of course when you see a bunch of low priced items with the anticipation of a good result, more than likely you will be let down. I found a Wide angle lens (http://cgi.ebay.com/WIDE-ANGLE-LENS-Fisheye-CANON-EOS-DIGITAL-REBEL-350D-XT_W0QQitemZ7590663247QQcategoryZ4687QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting) on ebay- would this be usable with my 300D on a stock lens? Majority of my pictures will be tandem stills. (Let me guess, shell out the $$ and get the Simga15mm) Thanks, Dave.
Dokeman 0 #2 February 17, 2006 there are a few poeple at my dz that use those wide angle adapter lens. They do make the lens wider, but the picture quality suffers alot. I prefer my stock lens, but i really want a real wide angle lens
YISkyDive 0 #3 February 17, 2006 Id love the Sigma 8mm. Or even the 12; 14; 15.. you get the point
pcalandra 0 #4 February 18, 2006 Save your cash and get the Canon 10-22mm, it's superior to the Sigma 18mm, I used the sigma last year and although it's a good lens, you'll get that "fish-eye" type of distortion around the edges. If you pair it with a Sony HC-42 and a stealth .05 lens at 22mm it will be slightly wider than what your camcorder sees, which suits me just fine! Icon134 0 #5 February 19, 2006 There's been a lot of discussion on lenses... When I was searching for information I haven't jumped it yet but I got a hold of a 17mm Tokina for my Rebel XT. It isn't being produced any longer (which is part of the reason I went ahead and bought one) but I have seen it on ebay. Just a Thought.Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... wonko 0 #6 February 19, 2006 Before spending lot of $, try Russian made Zenitar 16mm fisheye http://www.rugift.com/ - small size, excellent value for price. I use to focus it somewhere to 1.2m (for tandems), set apperture to 11 or higher and set Av mode on camera. Exposure compensation 1 stop down and RAW mode is a good idea in most cases. On your camera, this will be effectively a 26mm lense - not so fishy at all... YISkyDive 0 #7 February 20, 2006 Hey, yah. I found the Zenitar.. and was definetly considering it. I foudn some pictures that where less than impressive, and others that were. Does that lens have the ability to have an "infinity" focus? Someone was telling me it was capable, but I wasnt overally sure if it was.
wonko 0 #8 February 20, 2006 QuoteDoes that lens have the ability to have an "infinity" focus? Yep, it does. Problem arises from lens adaptor, which effectively puts the lense further away from the camera thus spoiling the focusing. The cure is simple - see what John says here: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1036&message=12798866 - it works.villem life is what you make it to be http://www.youtube.com/villu357 http://www.flickr.com/photos/skybound
