supafly 0 #1 December 29, 2005 I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to order cables online. Specifically, I'm looking for a stereo cable with 2.5mm right-angle male ends (on both sides). Ideally, this cable would be 4"-6" long. I know it's possible to make one, but me with a soldering iron in my hand is a scary thought and a risky proposition at best. Just learning the terms to describe the thing about doubled my knowledge on the subject The cable is going to be used to connect my Digital Rebel XT to a 2.5mm stereo jack installed on my helmet. The jack is wired to a bite switch. Any advice on where to order such a cable (and a few spares) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, KeithArizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com

supafly 0 #4 December 29, 2005 Are you talking about a bite switch or the cable I was trying to describe above (although probably not too well)? I originally got the bite switch from a Conceptus dealer, but now I'm looking for a particular cable to interface with the spliced switch/jack. From their website it looks like they just sell the switches and not these type of cables. They talk about splicing their switches, but don't offer any specialized cables for sale. I can't imagine too many uses for a 4"-6" cable with 2.5mm right-angle stereo plugs on both ends, but this does not sound like an insanely odd cable. I'd think someone out there would be making these for some application. I didn't do the original splicing for the jack and I'll stop being lazy and learn how to solder if I have to, but if these cables already exist I'd like to just buy a few.Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com
freefalle 0 #5 December 29, 2005 I'm not exactly sure what your talking about but the conceptus bit switch comes with the plug that goes into your camera and the bite switch on the other.
ltdiver 3 #6 December 29, 2005 Typed 2.5mm cable into ebay and came up with this. Don't know what the other end of this cable looks like, but wouldn't hurt to contact the manufacturer and ask. Anyone else seen this remote LANC control switch? I'd still rather use a CamEye, but interesting that this guy thinks he can compete. http://cgi.ebay.com/LANC-Remote-Control-4-Button-4-Helmet-Bullet-Cams_W0QQitemZ7575294378QQcategoryZ23780QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

ltdiver 3 #8 December 29, 2005 QuoteIs this what you are looking for? http://tinyurl.com/b64sz The Digital Rebel XT has a 2.5mm stereo plug need, not what the modification this little handy build-your-own-remote menu entails. This is for a camera like the 10D and 20D. :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

FrEaK_aCcIdEnT 0 #11 December 29, 2005 i found something that would work, except its 3.5mm... Id figure it would be easier to find than this. here is a pic: http://www.ramelectronics.net/assets/images/zip-linq/ZIP-AUDIO-CD3.jpg here is the page i found it on, it extends to what u want it to be. http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/zip-linq_audio-earbud.html edit: Here... [email protected] email them there. its for thier custom stuff. im sure they can make u the zip linQ with 2.5mm plug ends. Probably wont cost more than 15-20 bucks for it being custom. and its good for 4" -48" ExPeCt ThE uNeXpEcTeD! DoNt MiNd ThE tYpOs, Im LaZy On CoRrEcTiOnS! pcalandra 0 #12 December 31, 2005 Keith, whatever you do I recommend that you also have an easy way to quickly change your bite, blow or tongue switch. I've had enough failures that I keep a spare in my jumpsuit pocket. I made an intermediate cable and just tuck the excess behind my helmet liner. Here is a picture of mine if that helps and I've also given you the url's to what I used to make mine up. This place has a ton of cables and connectors at very reasonable prices. Lastly, if you really can't or don't want to solder find a friend and do a little horse trading Right angle 2.5mm 6" extension cable with pigtail http://shop.vetcosurplus.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=37_38_47_54&products_id=6952 Right angle plastic 2.5mm connector (really eazy to solder to above cable, even I could do it) http://shop.vetcosurplus.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=72_74_90&products_id=6828
