Camera Choice

Recommended Posts

I'm sure you guys hear this constantly, however I looked around a bit but saw little to help.

I'm looking to buy a small 300-400ish dollar camera to tide me over for a bit, and also double as a future jump camera.

I've got nowhere near the experience to video, but hopefully this camera can eventually be used for such a thing.

I'm looking at the:

Sony DCR-HC32 --- Looks like it has nice size. What about picture quality?

Panasonic PV-GS65 --- 3CCD...Niiiice. Perhaps too large of a camera though?

Panasonic PV-GS35 --- I guess this is the 1CCD version of the GS65....but uh...perhaps still too large?

Canon ZR200 --- Size a problem? Picture quality? Battery life is lower than the Panasonics but I can buy more batteries if needed, I suppose.

I really don't wanna spend more than $500 on any of these, so...reviews and comments?

Do people actually jump this camera? Sure Sony might be great generally but there's always an exception.

..Does anyone jump any of these cameras?

Seriously, what planet are you on?

It's known as "only seven jumps."

I assume you mean "SONY = GOD YOU STUPID GEEK"

It means, it's good that you ask...and if you want to conduct additional searches (meaning, the question has come up before....numerous times) take a look HERE.

Last year I bought a SONY DCR-HC40, which is similar to HC32.
It has performed great through 300+ Handy-Mount jumps.
Now I am considering installing it in my old Bonehead Full-Box helmet.
I chose HC40 because it has the same 1 mega-pixel CCD - as the PC109 - for $300 less.
HC32 has similar size, switches, functions, etc., but with a lower resolution.
