First time, camera, Havok question

Recommended Posts

Hi,

As I don't have any experience with having any camera on my head while skydiving, recently I had a need to use video camera and there was a question.
I have RW full face HAVOK from Bonehead composites and I would like to use it for mounting video camera because camera helmets are expensive and I really don't want to get into camera work.
You understand my problem, should I use existing helmet for occassionaly filming or should I save money and buy a camera helmet even for light camera work?
What are the risks with Havok?

Thks

Borrow someone's camera helmet. or pay a camera guy for whatever the "need" is. I don't think the Havok would work, it might work with a lipstick cam but I don't think you could open the visor.

1) Jump numbers?

2) Experience flying camera=better chance of usable debrief material.

3) Hire a cameraflyer for that occasional need, you'll be happier

4) A Havok would be a poor choice for mounting a camera. For many, many reasons.

Yep. You'll be far happier and safer in the long run.

You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I thought I could attach holder for light video camera to a second holder for dytter so I can open and close visor or behind that on fix part of helmet so that visor can move.
I have never jumped with camera.
As I don't have enough money to buy myself special gear for all activities I thought I could use existing but as you said attachment to Havok will not be strong enough to hold a camera and that answeres my question.
