turtlespeed 212 #1 March 23, 2004 How much bandwidth should I get to host videos? I started with a VERY basic package and will upgrade later after I'm finished building my site. Any Ideas and or suggestions would be much appreciated. Any advice on what it should cost and such. I was thinking about Shutterfly - - Is it really worth it?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
AggieDave 6 #2 March 24, 2004 For video? What is the package that you're looking at, a certain amount of data per month? If you look at it this way, your average site, with graphics, comes in at about 100k per page. Think about how much traffic your site will recieve and factor that in as well. Now factor in your average video size and calculate how much traffic your video will recieve. It all addes up very very quickly.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
PhreeZone 15 #3 March 24, 2004 Shutterfly is for selling stills, they won't host video. Best advice is to find a host that does'nt measure on the bandwith used, but is on fat pipes and gives at least 300 meg storage. I like my host. 500 megs storage space, and I consistantly top out at 1.5 meg downloads. I've got 18 movies up there including 5 that are 10 minutes+ long. If you are needing more then that you might need to figure out the scope of the project and find a host that can meet those requirements.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
