JohnRich 4 #1 February 10, 2005 When photos are uploaded to my personal library, the commas which I used in my titles and captions are stripped from the text, leading to improper punctuation. See the attached image for an example. What I entered was: "John, Sons & Granddaughters". What comes out is: "John Sons & Granddaughters".
PhreeZone 15 #2 February 11, 2005 Correct, odd charactors like that in SQL tables can lead to some majorly screwed up tables so a lot of progrms just drop them.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
bob.dino 0 #3 February 11, 2005 If the database is correctly set up, the only character that could cause a problem is a single quote ('). To escape the single quote, just add another so you're inserting a string containing two single quotes (''). Note: not a double quote ("). Otherwise there's no reason to strip punctuation. Unless of course, the files aren't actually stored in a database, but on a filesystem. But that's probably not the case.

Wouldn't that also cause problems with all of the punctuation in the forum posts? They're also stored in the db, correct? - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. PhreeZone 15 #5 February 15, 2005 Probally different databases. Honestly its probally just an oversight on a few lines of code that powers the photo gallery. HH can now work with the developers to fix it Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
