viewing a thread for the first time

Recommended Posts

Ok, this has been bugging me for some time now. Often when I view a thread for the first time it takes me to the middle of the thread rather than the beginning. Now I could understand it taking me to the end, ie the most recent, but why the middle?

Sometimes it might take me to a third of the way down page seven of twelve or just to half way down the first page or whatever, there seems to be no pattern to it. It's irritating as I have to wait for the page to load then click on the first page or scroll up. It happens in Firefox 1.0.7 and also in IE6. I stress again that it does this in threads I have not previously viewed.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Just a SWAG here, but if you hit the "Mark All Read" button, it will do just that, whether you have read all the posts/threads.

Then when you go to the thread, it takes you to the first new post in that thread just like it's supposed to.

If you haven't marked all as read, then I don't know WTF is going on, but if I was a betting man ...

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

Try going to "Edit Profile"
Select the "Display Settings"

in the box that says: In flat view, when viewing thread: ; select "View root post" in the dropdown box to see if that fixes it.
Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
