I've heard and agree that doing a lot of 4-way RW is good for AFFI candidates. It's small, fast flying, like an AFF jump. Of course, your swoop skills need to be dialed in too.

One of my pet peeves is instructors that "teach" by talking at a room full of people. The real learning doesn't start until the student stands up and starts demonstrating back. That's when you can verify learning and correct mistakes. I'd like to add this: Develop a fine eye for watching the student's demonstrations. Correct all mistakes, big and small, until they learn the task correctly. It'll save a lot of frustration in the air.

I have seen jumpers who first
become camera flyers on tandem jumps have an easier time on air evaluations because those jumpers have developed great chase skills.

Thanks to everyone with such positive advice, Putting in the practice jump, going well so far. Props to my instructors,Voodoo,Joey,Mike,Travis,and all the first jump students I have coached.
