skypuppy 1 #1 August 27, 2009 At the recent POPS meet at Skydive Toronto a friend of mine dropped off some boxes of magazines. Looking through them, I came upon some old Spotter magazines from 1972. On thing that caught my eye was mention that Eddie Grimm of Niagara Parachutes holds the record for longest static line on a jump with a 300È line. He said he had about 4 1é2 seconds of freefall before reaching the end. I didnèt meet Eddie but I knew two of his sons. Anyone have more info on this jump, or other jumps with long static lines....If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Beatnik 2 #2 August 27, 2009 Talk to Rudy. I believe he may have been JM'ing Eddie on that jump. He told me about this jump last year, so I believe he may have more information. I will see what I can uncover as well.
riggerrob 558 #3 September 6, 2009 Rumour I heard was that the first jump - with long static-line - went great! But, on the second jump, the static-line whipped back and forth so badly that it shredded the container. The canopy opened fine, but that was the end of that experiment!
