Aerograd Kolomna Closed?

Recommended Posts

I called them today - language was a bit of an issue but it seems that there is not jumping at the moment and I was told to call back on Friday.

Someone sent me a PM suggesting there is an issue with dropzones in the Moscow area that has been ongoing for a week or so and that has stopped jumping.

If anyone has any more information, please share it - some groups are due to visit from the UK and Denmark in 2 weeks.

Latest information I have is that the Defence Ministry have required that all sports aircraft (including skydiving planes, planes used for acrobatics) are grounded.

I have no idea when this will be resolved.

Hi,

We are heading for Kolomna in August.

I talked to a local Aerograd skydiver yesterday.
This is very unofficial information, but he said that Defence Minister is expected to make his decision by July 14th. (when it's Russia & politics - I have no idea what to expect and whether making a decision will be good or bad for us skydivers)

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Friends on the ground at Kolomna say they've been told by the DZ the restriction is lifted, but still awaiting paperwork They expect to be jumping later today (4th) or tomorrow.

Blue skies!

Just got a text from Gordy , who arrived in Kolomna last night , the first load has just gone up :)

And he did several loads today - sounds as though it is back to normal... :)

Prior to Sat 5th - grounded for about 2 weeks
We jumped Sat 5th - fast turnarounds everyone happy. Our group did 8 jumps in half a day
Sun 6th - 2 loads up, then crap weather for rest of day.
Mon 7th - Great weather, but DZ grounded again, no lifts, no info from dz.

At 18.00 we were told we'll be jumping again tomorrow (8th).

Very frustrating with lack of info coming from DZ, but at least the Skyventure Moscow windtunnel (12ft recirculator trading as "Freezone") has cheap rates at nighttime and we've been in there every night - :-)

Fingers crossed for jumping tomorrow.

For those thinking of travelling, you need to decide for yourselves. The DZ is mega efficient when they get going and you could realistically do 10+lifts a day very easily with briefs/debriefs, but then again you could just sit around like we've had to >:(.

Blue skies!
