  1. Two tunnels - a 12 footer and a 16.5 footer sharing the same carpark. Amazing! Great staff at Freezone - I can't wait to see the new tunnel. Blue skies! Gordon Beware of advice from those with more posts than jumps ;-)
  2. The four man camera-team (3 on the 51-way) was also all local, and all got great shots. The one I posted at the top of the thread is by Mike Barrett who also nailed a great top-shot of the same formation (on a 3-second hold! ). Blue skies! Gordon Beware of advice from those with more posts than jumps ;-)
  3. Thanks Jim. Yes, for your database, during the same event two other National Records were set: Irish FEMALE FS big-way = 13-way, built Wed 30 July 08. Irish POPS FS big-way = 12-way, built Sun 27 July 08. The 51-way record was built on the 2nd attempt. On day 1 of the record-event we set a 36-way national record which completed on the 3rd attempt...that record lasted only 48-hours
  4. A new Irish Record 51-way record was set today We used four aircraft (Skyvan, 2 x Dornier, Porter) to haul the jumpers to 14,100ft, and held the formation for about 3 seconds. All the squad are either Irish, Northern Irish or permanently resident in Ireland. Blue skies! Gordon Beware of advice from those with more posts than jumps ;-)
  5. Prior to Sat 5th - grounded for about 2 weeks We jumped Sat 5th - fast turnarounds everyone happy. Our group did 8 jumps in half a day Sun 6th - 2 loads up, then crap weather for rest of day. Mon 7th - Great weather, but DZ grounded again, no lifts, no info from dz. At 18.00 we were told we'll be jumping again tomorrow (8th). Very frustrating with lack of info coming from DZ, but at least the Skyventure Moscow windtunnel (12ft recirculator trading as "Freezone") has cheap rates at nighttime and we've been in there every night - :-) Fingers crossed for jumping tomorrow. For those thinking of travelling, you need to decide for yourselves. The DZ is mega efficient when they get going and you could realistically do 10+lifts a day very easily with briefs/debriefs, but then again you could just sit around like we've had to . Blue skies! Gordon Beware of advice from those with more posts than jumps ;-)
  6. Friends on the ground at Kolomna say they've been told by the DZ the restriction is lifted, but still awaiting paperwork They expect to be jumping later today (4th) or tomorrow. Blue skies! Gordon Beware of advice from those with more posts than jumps ;-)
  7. Still closed as at end of day Thu 3 July, still no firm date for re-opening Blue skies! Gordon Beware of advice from those with more posts than jumps ;-)
  8. The next All-Ireland big-way record attempts will take place 28-30 July 2008, at the Irish Parachute Club. The current record is 30, and we will have lift capacity for a 50-way. So any Irish or Northern Irish ex-pats out there with big-way experience or aspirations, get in touch at [email protected]. Foreigners are welcome to jump on a big-way skills camp running alongside the Irish Record with organising by Kate Cooper-Jenson, Derek Thomas and me. The big-ways will take place during the Irish Boogie with all sorts going on - four turbines, maybe more
  9. Woohoo! I had an SMS to say it's been confirmed. What an amazing achievement for all involved, especially the organising team...well done to all. C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S !!!! Blue skies! Gordon Beware of advice from those with more posts than jumps ;-)
  10. Wendy - just a quick note to say thanks for writing the daily updates on the record website and here. It's great to follow the progress - keep em coming!
  11. That sounds good. The UK and Ireland records both had 'National' defined as anyone who has that country as their Nationality + foreigners who now live and regularly jump in the country. Blue skies! Gordon Beware of advice from those with more posts than jumps ;-)

  13. 12, inc 8-way, CRW, formation loads, AFF and a hybrid. Top weekend
  14. You need to have the pic in 8-bit mode, not 16-bit, to be able to save as .JPG. got to Image > Mode > 8-bit - after doing that you'll get your .JPG option back in the Save > As dialogue. :-) Blue skies! Gordon Beware of advice from those with more posts than jumps ;-)
  15. Only went for half a day and did 1 - a great AFF level 2 - I was main-side and it was SWEET. I'd hoped for more, but the DZ was busy with tandems Blue skies! Gordon Beware of advice from those with more posts than jumps ;-)
