Hey, is the DZ in Wasilla, Alaska really closed this year like their website says? Any body know? I sure was looking forward to jumping there on a trip north!

Yes, it so sad but true the DZ in Wasilla closed at the end of the season last year. At this time there is no DZ in Alaska.

From what I heard the land was sold to people who have no interest in having skydivers there.

I don't think you understand. The DZ was on residential property. As I understand it, the people who bought the DZ live on the land. Whould you want a bunch of people you don't know partying in your back yard for a week?

So does any know a place to skydive in Alaska? Any word of where or when a drop zone will open up ? Did anyone buy the gear from Wasilla ?

FYI. I got the following info from Bill Jones, former DZO at Skydive Alaska. As the other thread on this topic says, Bill sold the DZ and it is no longer at the old location. But, it is apparently in operation now. I am no longer in Alaska, so I didn't call. But for anyone who is interested, here's the info:

The DZ opened this weekend. Call 907-360-8338 or 230-5334 for all the details. -Bill Jones

They are open Saturdays and Sundays for NOW!!!! I just talked to them, they're gonna fax me a flier to work tomorrow, so I'll have more details then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
