robr 0 #1 February 15, 2006 even though it's supposed to be cold this weekend (2/18 and 2/19), anyone know of any dz's in the new england area that will be flying? i'm pretty sure none of jumptown, lebanon, or pepperell will be...
ccowden 0 #2 February 15, 2006 Good chance you can get something in at The Ranch if the weather is ok.
pilotdave 0 #3 February 15, 2006 CPI (connecticut parachutists) has been the only new england DZ open all winter. If the weather's jumpable, they'll be open this weekend too. http://www.skydivect.com. BTW, according to mapquest, it's only 88 miles from cambridge to ellington. Ewww, highs of 32 and 27. How desperate for a jump am I? It will have been 2 weeks.... I guess I can deal with the cold! Dave
doublespock 0 #4 February 15, 2006 Jumptown is open all winter too, except Janurary. I bet they will be flying this weekend. We have an otter. We also have all new facilites for 2006 P Jizzle

robr 0 #6 February 16, 2006 E-mailed Diane and she thought it was doubtful the Otter would get up this weekend because of the temperatures, and Cessna's in the shop.
robr 0 #7 February 16, 2006 I'm pretty desparate for a jump right now I got lucky and my most recent jumps were all in California where it was warm.

robr 0 #11 February 20, 2006 yea, y'all have a nice dz. how'd the time lapse come out?
pilotdave 0 #12 February 20, 2006 It was nice meeting you guys too. If I wasn't such a wuss, I'd have made more than one jump and gone with you guys. I was glad to get one, but I remember why most new england DZs shut down for the winter... The time lapse packing is hilarious... maybe I'll post it tonight. RipcorD's got some ideas for episode 2 though. Dave
crashintou 0 #13 February 20, 2006 haha- so that's what you were doing with the camera? I'm so stupid I didn't even realize and I packed in front of it just about every time plus we were practicing those freefly exits.
pilotdave 0 #14 February 20, 2006 Quoteplus we were practicing those freefly exits Looks more like the chicken dance. Don't worry, it compressed ~1 hour into ~1 minute... everything happens fast. But pausing at random times does reveal some interesting things going on... Dave

pilotdave 0 #17 March 2, 2006 Weather's looking good (I KNOW it's time to move somewhere warm when highs under 40 sound good)... I'll be there. Hopefully less filmy, more jumpy this time. Dave
doublespock 0 #18 March 8, 2006 Hey New England, I heard a rumor that the weather could be nice this weekend (3/11 - 3/12), almost 60!!! FACT: Jumptown in Orange, MA willl be jumping if the weather is good and jumpers show up. Safety day is Saturday 3/11 and starts at 4pm in the NEW JUMPTOWN BUILDING. We have a cessna and an Otter. Lets fill up the Otter and go Freefly, R-dub, Birdman, Swoop, or just get current. This safety day would be a great opportunity to come check out the NEW JUMPTOWN BUILDING. If you havent seen it, you will be very impressed. Make some jumps during the day, safety day in the evening, and a pot luck dinner too. So, bring some food if you want in on the pot luck dinner. Bring your gear if you wan to jump. I hope to do some freeflying myself, so count me in PJ
